Inter state co-ordination meeting of traffic police held

An inter-state co-ordination meeting between traffic police officers of Tri-city i.e. Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali was organized by Chandigarh Traffic Police at Police Headquarters, Sector 9, Chandigarh with a view to enhance coordination between traffic police units of Tri-city.

The meeting was attended by Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Security, U.T. Chandigarh, Sh. Tarun Rattan, SP/Traffic, Mohali, Sh. Munish Sehgal, ACP/Traffic Panchkula and all Traffic DSPs and TIs of Chandigarh Traffic Police.  In the meeting, inter-alia the following traffic issues were discussed:-

  • Day-to-day communication between traffic police officials of Tri-city.
  • Advisory/alerts regarding traffic congestion in Tri-city.
  • Co-ordination needed for movement of emergency vehicles i.e. ambulances, fire brigades.
  • Plying of auto rickshaws without permit and registration in Tri-city.
  • Action against bikes with modified silencers.

Two arrested for consuming liquor at public place

Two different cases U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC have been registered in PS-03, Chandigarh against two persons who were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. Later both bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law.

Three arrested under NDPS Act

Chandigarh Police arrested Harmandeep Singh R/o # 110, Shivalik Enclave, Naya Gaon, Distt. Mohali (PB) near RIMT School, Mani Majra, Chandigarh and recovered 10 gram smack from his possession. A case FIR No. 267, U/S 21 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-MM, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Chandigarh Police arrested Pritam Maurya R/o # 1135, Ph-2, Ram Darbar, Chandigarh from Ram Darbar, Chandigarh and recovered 12 injections of drugs from his possession. A case FIR No. 257, U/S 22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-31, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Chandigarh Police arrested a lady resident of Sector 38A, Chandigarh near Paddy Mandi, Sector 39, Chandigarh and recovered 22 injections of drugs from her possession. A case FIR No. 243, U/S 22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

One arrested for Burglary

Sh. Mahesh Kumar R/o # 86, Ph-3, BDC, Sector-26, Chandigarh alleged that Roshan R/o # 731/32, Ph-1, BDC, Sector-26, Chandigarh was caught while stealing purse containing cash Rs. 450/- and some documents from his house on 12.06.2018. A case FIR No. 191, U/S 380, 457, 411 IPC has been registered in PS-26, Chandigarh. Alleged person has been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

MV Theft

Sh. Sourav R/o # 1850, Sector-22B, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away Bullet M/Cycle No. CH-01BQ-4673 while parked near his residence on night intervening 11/12-06-2018. A case FIR No. 192, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A lady resident of Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away Scooty No. CH-01AG-9597 while parked near Gate No. 1, Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 192, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-26, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Accident

A case FIR No. 115, U/S 279, 337, 304A IPC has been registered in PS-49, Chandigarh on the complaint Nidhi Kamran R/o # 1211, New Light Society, Sector 51, Chandigarh against driver of car No. PB-01B-4594 namely Hardev Singh R/o Village Kotlabet, Dsitt. Ludhiana (PB) who hit to complainant’s Skoda car No. PB-02BP-5000 at light point, Sector 46/47/48/49, Chandigarh 12-06-2018. Resultantly, complainant’s daughter namely Adira age about 4 years got injured and declared brought dead at GMCH-32, Chandigarh. Alleged person arrested and later bailed out. Snatching

A lady resident of Sector-32, Chandigarh reported that unknown person on Motor Cycle snatched away mobile phone from complainant near chowk, Sector 34/21, Chandigarh on 12.06.2018. A case FIR No. 224, U/S 356, 379 IPC has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Sh. M.D. Bhasin R/o # 1081, Sector 40-B, Chandigarh reported that unknown person committed theft at H.No. 143, Sector 36A, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 227, U/S 380, 457 IPC has been registered in PS-36, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 244, U/S 454 IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh on the complaint of Inspector Mohinder Ram, CBI against unknown person who broken backside door of H.No. 332, 2nd floor, Sector 37A, Chandigarh which was sealed by CBI on 07.04.2018. Investigation of the case is in progress.

पाक ने किया संघर्ष विराम समझौते का उल्लंघन, 4 जवान शहीद

सांबा सेक्टर के रामगढ़ में बाबा चमलियाल के सालाना उर्स से पहले पाकिस्तान की ओर से संघर्ष विराम तोड़ा गया है।

पाकिस्तान की नापाक हरकतें थमने का नाम नहीं ले रही हैं. पाकिस्तान की तरफ से बीती रात जम्मू कश्मीर के अरनिया सेक्टर के चमलियाल पोस्ट पर हुई फायरिंग में बीएसएफ के तीन अफसर सहित एक जवान शहीद हो गए. शहीदों की पहचान असिस्‍टेंट कमांडेंट जीतेंद्र सिंह, सब इंस्‍पेक्‍टर रजनीश, असिस्‍टेंट सब इंस्‍पेक्‍टर रामनिवास और कांस्‍टेबल हंसराज के रूप में हुई है. पाक की तरफ से हुई गोलीबारी में बीएसएफ के तीन अन्‍य जवान भी गंभीर रूप से हताहत हुए हैं. इन सभी को इलाज के लिए अस्‍पातल में भर्ती करा दिया गया है. जहां उनकी हालत गंभीर बनी हुई है.

बीएसएफ के अनुसार मंगलवार रात्रि करीब 9 बजकर 40 मिनट पर पाकिस्‍तान रेंजर्स के अधीन आने वाली असरफ पोस्‍ट से बीएसएफ की चमलियाल पोस्‍ट पर भारी गोलीबारी और मोर्टार से हमले शुरू किए गए.  सांबा सेक्टर के रामगढ़ में बाबा चमलियाल के सालाना उर्स से पहले पाकिस्तान की ओर से संघर्ष विराम तोड़ा गया है।
गोलीबारी के लिए पाकिस्‍तान रेंजर्स लंबी दूरी तक मार करने वाले हथियारों का इस्‍तेमाल कर रहे थे. चमलियाल पोस्‍ट पर तैनात बीएसएफ के जवानों ने पाकिस्‍तानी रेंजर्स को मुंह तोड़ जवाब देना शुरू किया. इसी दौरान पाकिस्‍तान की तरफ से आई गोलियां बीएसएफ के तीन अधिकारी और चार जवानों को जा लगी. मौके पर मौजूद बल के अन्‍य सदस्‍यों ने सभी को समीपवर्ती अस्‍पताल में भर्ती कराया. जहां असिस्‍टेंट कमांडेंट जीतेंद्र सिंह, सब इंस्‍पेक्‍टर रजनीश, असिस्‍टेंट सब इंस्‍पेक्‍टर रामनिवास और कांस्‍टेबल हंसराज को मृत घोषित कर दिया गया. जबकि गंभीर रूप से जख्‍मी तीन अन्‍य जवानों का इलाज शुरू कर दिया गया है.

पाकिस्तानी रेंजर्स ने अखनूर सेक्टर के प्रगवाल इलाके और नजदीक के कंचक और खौर सेक्टरों में रविवार (3 जून) को भारी गोलीबारी और मोर्टार से गोले दागे थे. रविवार की रात करीब 1:15 बजे पाकिस्तान की ओर से प्रगवाल स्थित अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा पर स्थिति BOP को निशाना बनाकर गोलीबारी की गई. इस गोलीबारी में सहायक उपनिरीक्षक एसएन यादव (48) और कांस्टेबल वीके पांडे गंभीर रूप से जख्मी हो गए. दोनों घायलों को अस्पताल पहुंचाया गया. जहां उन्‍होंने देश के लिए अपने प्राण न्‍यौछावर कर दिए. पाक की तरफ से हुई गोलाबारी में 9 स्‍थानीय नागरिक और एक पुलिस कर्मी जख्मी हुए थे. जिसमें 6  घायलों की पहचान सिलेक्शन ग्रेड कांस्टेबल जाकिर खान, सुलक्षणा देवी (25), बंसीलाल (40) बलविंदर सिंह (22), सुधाकर सिंह (50) और विक्रम सिंह (34) के तौर पर हुई थी.

तीन जून को पाकिस्‍तान की तरफ से हुई फायरिंग का बीएसएफ ने मुंहतोड़ जवाब दिया था. बीएसएफ की गोलीबारी से पाकिस्‍तानी रेंजर्स इस तरह घबरा गए थे कि उन्‍होंने आनन-फानन ब्रिगेडियर अमजद हुसैन को बातचीत के लिए भेज दिया था. 4 जून को सेक्‍टर कमांडर लेबल की हुई इस बैठक में बीएसएफ के डीआईजी पीएस धीमान और रेंजर्स के ब्रिगेडियर अमजद हुसैन के बीच करीब एक घंटे तक चर्चा हुई थी. चर्चा के दौरान पाक बिग्रेडियर अहमद हुसैन ने वादा किया था कि पाकिस्‍तान की तरफ से अब के बाद गोलीबारी की शुरूआत नहीं की जाएगी. मीटिंग में यह भी तय हुआ था कि 21 जून को बीएसएफ और पाक रेंजर्स की सेक्‍टर कमांडर लेबल की वार्ता पर भी सहमति हुई थी. इससे पहले 29 मई को भारत और पाकिस्तान के सैन्य अभियानों के महानिदेशकों (डीजीएमओ) ने जम्मू कश्मीर में सरहद पर गोलीबारी की घटनाओं को तुरंत रोकने के लिए 2003 के संघर्ष विराम समझौते को अक्षरश : लागू करने पर सहमति जताई थी.
विशेष हॉट लाइन पर हुई बातचीत में दोनों कमांडरों ने नियंत्रण रेखा और अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा पर मौजूदा स्थिति की समीक्षा भी की थी. हॉटलाइन पर बातचीत करने की पहल पाकिस्तानी डीजीएमओ ने की थी. बातचीत भारत के डीजीएमओ ले. जनरल अनिल चौहान और पाकिस्तान के डीजीएमओ मेजर जनरल साहिर शमशाद मिर्जा के बीच हुई थी. इसके बाद दोनों सेनाओं ने एक जैसा बयान जारी करके कहा था कि दोनों पक्ष 15 साल पुराने संघर्ष विराम समझौते को लागू करने पर सहमत हैं. उल्‍लेखनीय है कि  इस साल 29 मई तक संघर्षविराम उल्लंघन की कुल 908 घटनाएं हुईं  थी, जबकि पिछले साल 860 घटनाएं हुई थीं.
आपको बता दें कि आतंकी संगठन घाटी में एक बड़े हमले की फिरांक में हैं. मंगलवार को सुरक्षाबलों के काफिलों को निशाना बनाने के लिए आतंकियों ने बाहू त्राल के अवंतिपुरा रोड पर IED ब्‍लास्‍ट करने की साजिश रची. साजिश के तहत आतंकियों ने अवंतीपुरा रोड को काजीगुंड रेलवे स्‍टेशन से जोड़ने वाले लिंक रोड पर IED लगा दिया. यह IED करीब पांच किलो विस्‍फोटक से बना था. आतंकियों को पता था कि CRPF के वाहन पीकेट पार्टियों को लेकर वहीं से गुजरती हैं. आतंकियों का मंसूबा गाड़ी में मौजूद CRPF की पीकेट पार्टियों को एक साथ उठाना था. गनीमत रही कि CRPF की 185वीं बटालियन की फुट पेट्रोलिंग टीम को इस IED के बारे में पता चल गया. जिसके बाद CRPF के अधिकारियों ने तत्‍काल इसकी जानकारी J&K पुलिस के साथ साझा की. CRPF और J&K पुलिस की संयुक्‍त टीम तत्‍काल मौके पर पहुंची और इस IED को डिएक्टिवेट कर नष्‍ट कर दिया.

एयरसेल-मैक्सिस मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग मामले में कार्ति चिदंबरम के खिलाफ आरोपपत्र दायर

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ईडी) ने दिल्ली की एक अदालत में एयरसेल-मैक्सिस मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग मामले में कार्ति चिदंबरम के खिलाफ आरोपपत्र दायर किया। अतिरिक्त सत्र न्यायाधीश रूबी अल्का गुप्ता ने कहा कि वह चार जुलाई को आरोप पत्र पर विचार करेंगी। एजेंसी ने अपने आरोप पत्र में धन शोधन रोकथाम कानून की धारा चार के तहत कार्ति के अलावा चार अन्य लोगों को नामजद किया है।

निदेशालय ने आरोपपत्र में कई जगहों पर पूर्व केन्द्रीय मंत्री पी चिदंबरम के नाम का जिक्र किया है लेकिन उन्हें इस मामले में आरोपी नहीं बनाया गया है।

एजेंसी ने अदालत को बताया कि वह इस मामले में पूरक आरोपपत्र दायर कर सकती है। अदालत टूजी स्पैक्ट्रम मामलों से जुड़े एयरसेल-मैक्सिस प्रकरण में 2011 और 2012 में क्रमश: सीबीआई और प्रवर्तन निदेशालय द्वारा दायर दो मामलों में पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री प. चिदम्बरम  के बेटे कार्ति को दस जुलाई तक गिरफ्तारी से अंतरिम राहत दे चुकी है। यह मामला एयरसेल में निवेश के लिए फर्म मैसर्स ग्लोबल कम्युनिकेशन होल्डिंग सर्विसेज लिमिटेड को विदेशी निवेश संवर्द्धन बोर्ड की मंजूरी से जुड़ा है।

कर्णाटक में मिली भाजपा को एक और हार, ज्स्य्नगर सीट सौम्य जीतीं

कर्नाटक में भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) को एक और झटका लगा है। जयनगर विधानसभा सीट कांग्रेस ने जीत ली है। कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार सौम्या रेड्डी ने 16 राउंड की गिनती के बाद भाजपा के उम्मीदवार बीएन प्रहलाद को लगभग 2900 वोटों से हरा दिया। इससे पहले, आठवें राउंड की गिनती के बाद कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार सौम्या रेड्डी, भाजपा प्रत्याशी बी एन प्रहलाद से 10,205 वोटों से आगे चल रही थी। मतों की गिनती सुबह 8 बजे से शुरू हुई थी।

इस जीत के साथ कर्नाटक में कांग्रेस की 80 सीटें हो गई हैं। कर्नाटक चुनाव के दौरान कांग्रेस को 78 सीटें  मिली थीं। जबकि बाद में आरआर नगर पर हुए चुनाव में भी कांग्रेस को ही जीत मिली थी। फिर आज विजयनगर सीट पर भी कांग्रेस का कब्जा हो गया। इस तरह कांग्रेस के खाते में अब 80 सीटें हो गईं। जबकि भाजपा को 104 सीटें मिली हैं।

बता दें कि भाजपा उम्मीदवार बी एन विजयकुमार के निधन के बाद जयनगर में चुनाव स्थगित कर दिया गया था। जिसके बाद यहां पर 11 जून को मतदान हुआ था। चुनाव आयोग के मुताबिक, जयनगर के कुल 216 पोलिंग बूथों पर 55 फीसद मतदान दर्ज किया गया था।
निर्वाचन अधिकारियों ने बताया कि सुबह दस बजे तक कांग्रेस की उम्मीदवार सौम्या रेड्डी 27,195 मतों के साथ भाजपा के बीएन प्रहलाद से आगे चल रही हैं , जिन्हें अब तक 19,873 मत मिले हैं।

इस सीट पर विजयकुमार के भाई भाजपा के बी एन प्रहलाद और वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता और पूर्व मंत्री रामलिंगा रेड्डी की बेटी सौम्या रेड्डी के बीच कड़ा मुकाबला था। बता दें कि चुनाव से पहले जनता दल (एस) ने 5 जून को अपने प्रत्याशी को मैदान से हटा लिया और अपने सत्तारूढ़ गठबंधन सहयोगी कांग्रेस को समर्थन दे दिया था।  इससे पहले कांग्रेस को मिली शुरुआती बढ़त के बाद ही कर्नाटक कांग्रेस समर्थकों ने जश्न मनाना शुरू कर दिया था।

Panchkula Sewage Flooding Dhakoli

Hundreds of residents of MS Enclave, Dhakoli, have been suffering hell for the past 72 hours due to stinking surroundings caused by overflow of sewerage water on roads from the treatment plant of Sector 20, Panchkula. For the past more than a decade, the residents have been telling the authorities that during rainy season the sewerage overflow makes life difficult. But all their words have fallen on deaf ears.

On Sunday at 10am, the sewerage water flowed in the area and there was flood-like situation on roads. The dirty water entered houses and for the past three days, people are living with it. During a visit to the area, residents said they suffer as the authorities were not regular in cleaning the sewer.

Zirakpur municipal council employees, who are entrusted with the job of cleaning the sewer, said there were a large number of plastic bags, bottles and thermocol blocking the sewer. They said they have used the sucking machine also, but as the quantity of these things was huge they have to clear it manually.

Lalit Goyal, a restaurateur, complained that since Sunday his eatery has been shut due to waterlogging. He said he had bought the shop in 1998 and during every rainy season the sewerage water overflows and a temporary cleaning is done by the authorities. “The problem might continue till Wednesday, as the technique the authorities are using is traditional,” he added.

Another resident, Rahul Kumar, said since morning the MC had collected one trolley of garbage from the overflowing sewerage and the work was still on. “Garbage has chocked the sewers,” he added.

Area councillor Devinder Singh Brar said this was the story every rainy season. “In 2017, a letter was sent to the Panchkula deputy commissioner and he was asked to get the manholes repaired, but to date nothing has been done. In the complaint letter, the residents had stated that the diameter of the manholes in Dhakoli was smaller than in Panchkula,” he added.

Manbir Gill, executive officer of the MC, said JCB machines are on the job to clean the sewerage. About the main cause, he said the Haryana government installed the sewerage treatment plant (STP) in their area almost a decade ago and under their project they have to lay pipelines in Punjab too as it’s located on the border. But to date, they have not completed the project due to which the problem occurs every year, he said, adding that they had raised the matter with the Haryana government, but to no avail.

भाजपा सरकार प्रदेश में कर रही शिक्षा का निजिकरण : दीपांशु बंसल

भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस छात्र संगठन, एनएसयूआई हरियाणा के प्रदेश मीडिया प्रभारी दीपांशु बंसल ने भाजपा सरकार का जनविरोधी चेहरा बेनकाब करते हुए बताया कि सरकार द्वारा प्रदेश के 59 राजकीय महाविद्यालयो में विभिन्न 39 विषय बंद कर दिए गए है।

एनएसयूआई हरियाणा सरकार की इस जनविरोधी व छात्र विरोधी फैसले का विरोध करते हुए रोष प्रकट करती है।

दीपांशु ने बताया भाजपा सरकार द्वारा तुगलकी फरमान जारी करते हुए 39 विषयो को बंद करके गरीब व मध्यम वर्गीय परिवार के बच्चो को उच्चतर शिक्षा प्राप्त करने से वंचित किया जा रहा है।हरियाणा प्रदेश में अधिकतर राजकीय महाविद्यालय दुर्गम व पिछड़े क्षेत्रो में है।भाजपा सरकार द्वारा प्रदेश में शिक्षा के निजीकरण के लिए , विभिन्न विषयों को बंद करके छात्रो को प्राइवेट महाविद्यालयों की ओर आकर्षित किया जा रहा है जहाँ शिक्षा महंगी है व गरीब-मध्यमवर्गीय परिवार के बच्चो के लिए शिक्षा प्राप्त करना आसान नही है।

अधिकतर राजकीय महाविद्यालयों में प्राध्यापक, प्रयोगशाला व लाइब्रेरी जैसी मूलभूत सुविधाएं तक नही है वही दूसरी ओर भाजपा सरकार प्रदेश में लड़कियों को उच्चतर शिक्षा प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य से 30 राजकीय महाविद्यालय खोलने के दावे कर रही है।राजकीय महाविद्यालयों में प्राध्यपको के पद रिक्त है व विषयो के बन्द होने से नई भर्ती नही की जाएगी जिससे शिक्षित युवाओ व लोगो की बेरोजगारी बढ़ेगी।भाजपा सरकार ने 20 छात्रो से कम वाले विषयो को 2018-19 शिक्षा सत्र से बन्द करने का एलान किया है।

सरकार द्वारा राजकीय महाविद्यालय कालका में फिलॉसफी, म्यूसिक-5, म्यूसिक-1 ,जूलॉजी , बॉटनी, बीसीए-1 , फिजिकल एजुकेशन, बीबीए-1 – राजकीय महाविद्यालय पंचकूला में एंथ्रोपोलॉजी, म्यूसिक-5 संस्कृत, होमसाइंस, बॉयोटेक, बीएमसी-1 , राजकीय महाविद्यालय सेक्टर 14 पंचकूला में बीबीए -1 बीसीए 1 , अम्बाला केंट में संस्कृत , कैथल में बीएससी (आईटी), अम्बाला शहर में मैथेमैटिक्स , जियोग्राफी, बरवाला में संस्कृत , पोल साइंस, इकोनॉमिक्स , फिजिकल एडुकेशन , फिजिक्स , केमिस्ट्री , होम साइंस , साइकोलॉजी , छछरौली में जूलॉजी , बॉटनी समेत कुल 59 कालेजो में 39 विषय बंद करके छात्रो के हितों के साथ कुठाराघात किया है जबकि दीपांशु ने बताया कि जिला पंचकूला , अम्बाला व यमुनानगर शिवालिक क्ष्रेत्र के अधीन है , यहाँ अर्ध पहाड़ी क्षेत्र है व तमाम नियमो से छूट है जबकि बाकी जगह के मुताबिक सबसे ज्यादा विषय इन जिलों में बंद किए गए है।

साथ ही एनएसयूआई , हरियाणा सरकार से मांग करती है कि तुरन्त प्रभाव से इन विषयों को पुनः शुरू किया जाए अन्यथा प्रदेशाध्यक्ष दिव्यांशु बुद्धिराजा के नेतृत्व में पूरे प्रदेश में एनएसयूआई ,सरकार के इस फैसले का विरोध करेगी।भाजपा की केंद्र सरकार व राज्य सरकार द्वारा शिक्षा का स्तर कम किया जा रहा है व छात्रो को निजी महाविद्यालयों में उच्चतर शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के लिए विवश किया जा रहा है।

यदि प्रत्येक विषय मे छात्रो की कमी थी तो सरकार अन्य माध्यमो से क्लब आदि करके उन विषयों को चालू रख सकती थी परन्तु सरकार की मंशा निजीकरण की ओर है।

British man accused of killing RSS leaders in Punjab have to face law: India to UK

A British man, accused of conspiring targeted killings of RSS leaders in Punjab, will have to face law in India, Union minister Kiren Rijiju is believed to have told his UK counterpart Baroness Williams.

During an hour-long meeting at New Delhi on Tuesday, Rijiju is said to have conveyed to Williams that Jagtar Singh Johal is suspected to be one of the conspirators in carrying out targeted killings of seven RSS, Shiv Sena and Dera Sacha Sauda leaders between January 2016 and October 2017, an official said on Wednesday. The visiting minister has been told that Johal will have to face law in India for his alleged role in the crime in Punjab, the official said.

The National Investigation Agency, in a charge sheet filed in a court in Punjab’s Mohali on May 4, had claimed that Johal was involved in the funding of the conspiracy to kill Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leader Ravinder Gosain in Ludhiana last October. Johal is currently in a jail in Punjab and other cases against him are under various stages. Rijiju told Williams that regular consular access is being provided to diplomats of the British High Commission to meet Johal and so far 11 consular visits have been facilitated.

All legal avenues are available for Johal and his lawyers to pursue his case through India’s independent judicial system, the Union minister of state for home told his British counterpart. India has been maintaining that Johal, a citizen of the UK, has become a rallying point for Sikh groups in Britain. There was also a debate in the UK Parliament on Johal’s issue and providing the consular access to him. Since Johal’s arrest, a false, slanderous and orchestrated media campaign has been initiated by militants and their sympathisers as well as radical elements based in Britain and other Western countries against the Punjab government and the Punjab Police, another official said.

There were instances when Punjab Police officers received death threats targeted at them and their family members from such elements over phone, WhatsApp and various social media platforms, the official said. During his meeting with his UK counterpart recently, NSA Ajit Doval had even suggested that one can approach the National Human Rights Commission, which is an independent body with investigative and judicial powers, to look into allegations of mistreatment.

Johal had claimed that police threatened to shoot him and set him alight with petrol, according to the British media reports.

Bajwa Visted Kabul to Check the Rise of ISIS

Pakistan’s powerful Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday met with Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul, where the two discussed wide range of issues including peace efforts in the strife-torn country, checking the rise of ISIS and terror activities along their shared border.

Bajwa returned to Islamabad after the day-long visit to Kabul, where he had a one-on-one meeting with President Ghani, according to a statement by Pakistan Army. “The discussions encompassed wide range of issues especially the ongoing efforts for reconciliation in Afghanistan, measures needed to check the rise of ISIS and the issue of terrorists taking benefit of the porous border to indulge in terrorism, smuggling and drug trafficking, being often networked together,” it said.

Bajwa also congratulated Afghanistan authorities on recent peace initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid and wished that these steps gained more permanence leading toward an enduring peace. He said the recently-agreed Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Stability (APAPPS) was expected to bring more cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

Referring to the border fencing with Afghanistan, he said it would help check terrorism but not pose any hurdle for people on both the sides. Ghani shared contours of his vision about regional development, efforts to extend ongoing temporary ceasefire and steps related to creating conditions for reconciliation.

The Pakistan Army chief also had meetings with Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and Commander Resolute Support Mission (RSM) General John Nicholson, the statement said. Talking to Nicholson, Bajwa said that Pakistan desires that US and NATO Forces must succeed and leave behind a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, according to the statement.

Blaming bureaucrats for not working AAP CM will continue his “dharna” and his entire cabinet will be on roads.

As Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues continue to stage a sit-in protest at L-G Anil Baijal’s office for the third straight day, AAP MLAs and workers on Wednesday will march to Raj Niwas to protest against the bureaucratic crisis in the national capital. “We are not sitting here for ourselves. We are sitting here for the people of Delhi, for schools, water, mohalla clinics, so that the people of Delhi get the facilities,” Kejriwal said in a video message from LG’s office.

The BJP and Congress slammed Kejriwal, terming his ‘dharna’ at the L-G office a “mockery of democracy” and a “drama”. Raising the water shortage issue in the city, BJP’s Delhi unit will also stage a protest at Kejriwal’s residence today.

Kejriwal, along with Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai have been staging a sit-in at the LG’s office since Monday to protest against agitating IAS officials and to get an approval for the doorstep ration delivery scheme. Jain also launched an indefinite hunger strike over the demands.
