TEDxUBSPU on the 23rd Of March, 2019

            University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh is organizing TEDxUBSPU on the 23rd Of March, 2019 under the leadership of our Chairman, Professor Deepak Kapur and the guidance of Professor Kulwinder Singh. 

            TEDxUBSPU is student driven event of University Business School, Panjab University. It is the first ever TEDx solely for UBS. 

            The programme will start at 9:00 AM and will be concluded at 6:00 PM. 

            TEDxUBSPU is a local independent TED conference where live speakers would come forward and share their ideas and experiences to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group, in a TED like ambience. In this era of change, it has become essential to keep abreast with the developments around us, ergo the theme of the talks would be Change is the Only Constant. The conference would see illustrious Speakers from diverse backgrounds and walks of life joining us to share their experiences and perspectives on change.  

            Speakers for the Event includes Mr. Prabir Jha – President and Global Chief People Officer, Cipla, Mr. Saurabh Nigam – Vice President Human Capital,Omidayar Network, Mr. Sunil Gulati – Vice President- Technical, Coca ColaIndia and South West Asia Business Unit, Mr. Vikas Singh – AVP, Dainik Bhaskar, Mr. Devinder Sharma – Food Policy Analyst, Researcher, Writer, Brig Rangi – Force Commander of the Crack Commandos,successfully led the operation Black Tornado of 26/11, Mr. Maneet Gohil – Founder and CEO at Lal 10, Listed in Forbes 30 under 30, Ms. Nilanjana Das – Founder and Director at Action Centre for Transformation, Ms.Shruti Rao Rathore – Vegan Fashion and Lifestyle Entrepreneur and Ms. Supreet Dhiman – Director of Projects and Research at End Incest Trust 

Police maintained law & order during Holi

On the day of Holi festival, Chandigarh Police made special arrangements to avoid any untoward incident and to maintain Law & Order in the city. In this connection, Chandigarh Police has undertaken a major checking exercise in the city to check on the movements of criminals in the city. Chandigarh Police set up 64 Nakas along with special patrolling parties and approximately 860 Police Personnel including 06-GOs, 26 Inspectors & SHOs, 672 NGOs/ORs, 156 L/ORs were deployed to keep close watch on miscreants in the city. A Special focus was given to curb the hooliganism, rash driving and eve teasing incidents. All area having girls’ Hostels/PGs were covered by deputing lady police force.

          During the checking 228 vehicles were impounded and 744 vehicles were Challaned in which 112 issued for triple riding, 471 for without helmet and 161 for other traffic violations by the Police Stations.

          33 persons were booked in 25 cases for drinking alcohol at public places in the area of Sector 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 25, 22, 23, 26, lake-42, 43, Mani Majra, Ind. Area, Khuda Ali Sher.

To control hooliganism 59 persons were booked under 21 preventive action of 107/151 CrPC.

          Police Control Room received 585 Calls for which PCR vehicles dispatched for police assistance. Out which most of the calls were of Quarrels/Brawls = 323, Accident =67, Creating Nuisance =31 and remaining 164 spots were of other Miscellaneous events.

          Due to professionalism and dedication shown by Chandigarh Police during Holi Festival overall situation was remain peaceful.

Special drive against consuming liquor at public place was carried out at different parts of the city in which total 25 cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered.

In continuation of a special drive against consuming liquor at public place, yesterday, the drive was carried out at different parts of the city. Under this drive total 25 different cases U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered in different police stations of Chandigarh in which total 33 persons were arrested while consuming liquor at public   place. All later on bailed out. The detail of police Stations in which cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 got registered:- PS-03= 5 cases, PS-11 = 6 cases, PS-17 = 1 case, PS-26 = 2 cases, PS- Ind. Area= 1 case, PS- Manimajra= 1 case, PS- 31= 1 case, PS- 36= 7 cases, PS- 39= 1 case.

This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law.

One arrested under NDPS Act

Chandigarh Police arrested Ashok R/o # 588, Sector-38/A, Chandigarh from near CAP Complex, Chandigarh and recovered 10 gram heroin and 50 injections of drugs from his possession on 21.03.2019. A case FIR No. 38, U/S 21, 22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS- Sarangpur, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

One arrested for applying fake number plate

Chandigarh Police arrested Sanjiv Kumar R/o # 291, Milk Colony, Village- Dhanas, Chandigarh from near Shankar rice mill, Village- Daria, Chandigarh while he was using fake Registration number PB-01B-1166 on tempo traveler, where as its original No. is HR-99SF-(T)-1166. In this regard, a case FIR No. 82, U/S 473 IPC has been registered in PS-Ind. Area Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Deterred public servant while discharging govt. duty

A case FIR No. 47, U/S 332, 353, 441, 34 IPC has been registered in PS-Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh on the complaint of C. Sandeep Kumar 5195/CP, Driver, PCR Vehicle who alleged that Ramesh Pal R/o # 291, EWS Colony, Phase-2, Village- Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh and 3 others deterred, manhandled and torn uniform of complainant while performing govt. duty at near # 288, EWS Colony, Part-2, Village- Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh on 21.03.2019. Ramesh Pal (age- 32 yrs) has been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

MV Theft

Navdeep R/o # 2471, Sector-40/C, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s activa scooter No. CH-01AN-4324 while parked near SCO No. 1043, Sector-22/B, Chandigarh on 16.03.2019. A case FIR No. 78, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Snatching

Prem Chand @ Mahinder R/o # 1048, Sector-43/B, Chandigarh reported that 02 unknown persons occupant of motor cycle sped away after snatched complainant’s mobile phone from near Laxmi Narain Mandir, Sector-44, Chandigarh on 21.03.2019. A case FIR No. 72, U/S 356, 379, 34 IPC has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Dowry

A lady resident of Sector-51, Chandigarh, alleged that her husband & others resident of Distt.- Bhatinda, Punjab harassed complainant’s to bring more dowry. A case FIR No. 55, U/S 406, 498-A IPC has been registered in PS-Women, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.

A lady resident of Phase-I, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh alleged that her husband & others resident of Distt.-Sector-38 West, Chandigarh harassed complainant’s to bring more dowry. A case FIR No. 56, U/S 406, 498-A IPC has been registered in PS-Women, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.

A lady resident of Sector-26, Chandigarh, alleged that her husband resident of New Delhi harassed complainant’s to bring more dowry. A case FIR No. 57, U/S 406, 498-A IPC has been registered in PS-Women, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.
