चंडीगढ़ 14 जुलाई। शनिवार  को उत्कल सांस्कृतिक संघ की ओर से जगन्नाथ मंदिर सेक्टर-31 से भगवान जगन्नाथ की रथयात्रा शहर में धूमधाम के साथ निकाली गई। फूलों और मालाओं से सजे भगवान जगन्नाथ ऐसे लग रहे थे मानो उनका साक्षात अवतरण हुआ हो।

रथयात्रा में हजारों श्रद्धालुओं की भीड़ जय श्री जगन्नाथ के जयकारे लगाते हुए व उनका गुणगान करते हुए चल रही थी। शहर के विभिन्न सेक्टरों से आए बच्चे, वृद्ध और महिलाएं सभी भगवान की रथयात्रा में शामिल हुए। भगवान जगन्नाथ की पूजा- अर्चना के बाद दोपहर 1 बजे भगवान जगन्नाथ की भव्य रथयात्रा की शुरुआत हुई।  मुख्य अतिथि श्री देवेश मोदगिल महापौर चंडीगढ़, श्रीसंजय चंडीगढ़ टंडन  भाजपा अध्यक्ष, श्री सत्यपाल जैन पूर्व सांसद एवं एडिशनल सॉलिसिटर जनरल ऑफ इंडिया आदि ने भक्तों के साथ जगनाथ यात्रा में भगवान का आशीर्वाद लिया व यात्रा का शुभारम्भ किया। इस मौके पर पूरा शहर राधे-राधे के जयकारों से गूंज उठा । यात्रा में रथ की रस्सी खींचने के लिए श्रद्धालुओं की भीड़ उमड़ी। यात्रा के साथ भक्त नाचते-गाते हुए चल रहे थे। भगवान रथ में सवार थे और भक्त उनकी मस्ती में झूम रहे थे। मान्यता के अनुसार भगवान श्री जगन्नाथ भाई बलभद्र और बहन सुभद्रा के साथ नगर भ्रमण पर निकले। इस रथ यात्रा में भगवान बलराम की पालकी को खींचने से पाप से मुक्ति के द्वार की तरफ प्रस्थान माना जाता है। 

 रथ को फूल मालाओं से सजाया गया था, जिसकी शोभा देखते ही बनती थी। रथ यात्रा  सेक्टर-31 के श्री जगन्नाथ मंदिर से शुरू होकर सेक्टर-29, 30, 20, 21, 22, 23, 35, 36, 34,45, 46 और सेक्टर-47 होते हुए सेक्टर-31 स्थित मंदिर में 9  बजे के करीब दोबारा मंदिर में पहुंची। इस दौरान श्रद्धालुओं के लिए भंडारे का आयोजन भी किया गया।  रथयात्रा का जगह-जगह भव्य स्वागत हुआ। श्रद्धालु कीर्तन करते रथयात्रा में चल रहे थे।  उत्कल सांस्कृतिक संघ के सेकेट्री एस के नायक ने बताया कि 22 जुलाई को बुहाडा यात्रा निकाली जाएगी।

करसोग की मैहरन पंचायत में वन महोत्सव का आयोजन

मण्डी 14 जुलाई, 2018:– करसोग वन मण्डल में वन विभाग ने 12 से 14 जुलाई को 90 हैक्टेयर भूमि पर देवदार व बान के लगभग एक लाख 10 हजार पौधा रोपण किया गया। यह जानकारी करसोग के विधायक श्री हीरा लाल ने ग्राम पंचायत काण्डी सपनोट वन बीट मैहरन में पौधा रोपण करने के बाद एक जनसभा को सम्बोधित करते हुए दी।
अपने संबोधन में उन्होंने कहा कि प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा इस वर्ष एक विशेष तरह का आयोजन चलाया जा रहा है, जिसके तहत प्रदेश में 12 से 14 जुलाई तक 15 लाख पौधे रोपित करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है। उन्होंने लोगों से आहवान किया कि वे बरसात के मौसम में अधिक से अधिक पौधे लगाएं तथा आगे भी उनकी देखरेख करते रहें। उन्होंने कहा कि अधिक मात्रा में वन विकसित होने के कारण जंगली जानवरों से किसानों की फसलों को कम नुकसान होगा तथा साथ ही वातावरण भी स्वच्छ होगा।
उन्होंने पंचायती राज संस्थाओं, युवक व महिला मंडलों, स्वयं सेवी संस्थाओं से आहवान किया कि वे अधिक से अधिक पौधे लगाएं तथा अन्य को भी प्रेरित करें।
अतिरिक्त प्रधान मुख्य अरण्यपाल श्री पी.एल. चैहान ने मुख्य अतिथि को शाॅल व टोपी भेन्ट कर सम्मानित किया। उन्होंने कहा कि इस बार वन महोत्सव के दौरान मैहरन बीट में वन मण्डल करसोग द्वारा छः हैक्टेयर क्षेत्र मेें देवदार व बान के 5 हजार पौधा रोपण किया गया।
वन मण्डलाधिकारी करसोग राज कुमार शर्मा ने अतिरिक्त प्रधान मुख्य अरण्यपाल श्री पी.एल. चैहान को शाॅल व टोपी भेन्ट कर सम्मानित किया।
इसके उपरान्त विधायक श्री हीरा लाल ने स्थानीय जनता की समस्याओं को भी सुना।


इस मौके पर विधायक श्री हीरा लाल ने काण्डी सपनोट तथा मैहरन पंचायत के सभी महिला मण्डलों को 10-10 हजार रूपये अपनी ऐच्छिक निधि से देने की घोषणा की।

कुरुक्षेत्र 14 जुलाई। डीसी डा. एसएस फुलिया ने स्थानीय राजकीय आदर्श वरिष्ठ माध्यमिक विद्यालय कुरुक्षेत्र में पिहोवा और लाडवा ब्लॉक के तीसरी,पांचवी और सातवीं कक्षाओं को पढ़ाने वाले अध्यापकों की मीटिंग ली और उन्हें स्पष्टï निर्देश दिए कि विद्यार्थियों को आगामी 15 अगस्त तक हर हालात में उनकी कक्षा के अनुरूप सक्षम बनाना सुनिश्चित करे। इसके साथ-साथ विद्यार्थियों को हिन्दी और गणित विषय में सक्षम बनाना सुनिश्चित करे। इस विषय को लेकर किसी भी प्रकार की लापरवाही नहीं होनी चाहिए। पढ़ाई में कमजोर बच्चों की ओर विशेष ध्यान दिया जाए।

उन्होंने स्कूलों के अध्यापकों को निर्देश देते हुए कहा कि वे अपने-अपने स्कूलों में सफाई व्यवस्था, पीने के पानी, शौचालय आदि के उचित प्रबंध करना सुनिश्चित करे। इसके साथ-साथ नियमित रूप से स्कूलों में बनने वाले मिड-डे-मिल को भी चैक किया जाए। अगर किसी भी स्कूल में किसी प्रकार की खामी पाई जाती है तो सम्बन्धित के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

उन्होंने कहा कि विद्यार्थियों के शिक्षा के स्तर में सुधार लाने के लिए अध्यापकों को निरंतर प्रयास करना होगा। शिक्षा के साथ-साथ विद्यार्थियों की अन्य गतिविधियों जिनमें खेल कूद, सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम आदि में भागीदारी सुनिश्चित की जानी चाहिए ताकि विद्यार्थियों के मानसिक और शारीरिक विकास में भी वृद्घि हो सके।

इस अवसर पर डीसी ने यह भी बताया कि जिला में पौधगिरी कार्यक्रम के तहत सवा लाख विभिन्न किस्मों के पौधे लगाने का लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया गया है। इनमें से 80 हजार पौधे स्कूली बच्चों द्वारा लगाएं जाएंगे। जिला के विभिन्न स्कूलों में 40 हजार विद्यार्थी शिक्षा ग्रहण कर रहे है। सभी विद्यार्थी दो-दो पौधे लगाएंगे। एक पौधा सम्बन्धित स्कूल में और एक पौध अपने घर में लगाएंगे। शेष अन्य पौधे लगाने के लिए विभिन्न विभागों के अधिकारियों को निर्देश दे दिए गए है। इस कार्य में समाज सेवी संस्थाओंं और ऐच्छिक संगठनों का सहयोग भी लिया जा रहा है। ये पौधे वन विभाग द्वारा नि:शुल्क उपलब्ध करवाएं जा रहे है।

मौके पर उपस्थित जिला मौलिक शिक्षा अधिकारी सतनाम सिंह भट्टी ने बताया सभी स्कलों को निर्देश दिए कि वे स्कूलों में घडी, कैलेंडर व दिशा सूचक लगाना सुनिश्चित करे। इस अवसर पर डीईओ नमिता कौशिक भी उपस्थित थी।

नागरिक विकास मंत्री कविता जैन ने दो करोड़ से अधिक की लागत से बनने वाली गलियों का किया शिलान्यास

सोनीपत, 14 जुलाई। शहरी स्थानीय निकाय तथा महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री कविता जैन ने शनिवार को सोनीपत शहर को आधा दर्जन गलियों का तोहफा दिया, जिनके निर्माण पर करीब दो करोड़ 13 लाख 85 हजार रुपये की लागत आएगी। उन्होंने संबंधित अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिए कि सभी गलियों का निर्माण तयबद्ध समय में पूरा किया जाए, जिसमें गुणवत्ता का विशेष ध्यान रखा जाए।

शहरी स्थानीय निकाय मंत्री कविता जैन ने गलियों के शिलान्यास कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत विवेकानंद चौक से सडक किनारे इंटरलाकिंग टाइल्स लगाने के कार्य का नारियल तोडकर शिलान्यास किया, जिसपर करीब 44 लाख 66 हजार रुपये की लागत आएगी। इसके उपरांत उन्होंने आदर्श नगर तथा चिंतपूर्णी मंदिर के मध्य शर्मा अस्पताल वाली गली के साथ लगती विभिन्न गलियों के निर्माण का शिलान्यास किया।

इसमें इंटरलॉकिंग टाइल्स से कई गलियों का निर्माण किया जाएगा, जिन पर लगभग 72 लाख 68 हजार रुपये का व्यय होगा। इसके पश्चात् उन्होंने ककरोई रोड पर सडक किनारे इंटरलाकिंग टाइल्स लगाने के कार्य का भी शुभारंभ किया, जिस पर करीब 72 लाख 52 हजार रुपये का खर्च होगा। अंत में उन्होंने मयूर विहार की गली नंबर-8 व 7 में बनने वाली गलियों के निर्माण कार्य का शिलान्यास किया, इसपर लगभग 23 लाख 99 हजार रुपये की लागत आएगी।

इस दौरान महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री कविता जैन ने लोगों की समस्याओं की सुनवाई करते हुए सभाओं को संबोधित किया। लोगों ने उनके समक्ष प्रमुख तौर पर पानी की निकासी तथा पेयजल की व्यवस्था को दुरुस्त करवाने की मांग की। इस पर उन्होंने लोगों को भरोसा दिलाया कि इन समस्याओं से जल्द ही लोगों को पूर्ण रूप से छुटकारा मिलेगा। ऐसी समस्याओं को जड़ से खत्म करने के लिए कदम-दर-कदम बढ़ाये जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि पूर्व सरकारों ने सोनीपत के साथ विकास के मामले में हमेशा भेदभाव किया है। यही कारण है कि आज तक सोनीपत को सीवर, निकासी, पेयजल जैसी समस्याओं को झेलना पड़ रहा है। किंतु भाजपा सरकार ने इस दिशा में ठोस कदम उठाये हैं, जिससे लोगों को भविष्य में ऐसी समस्याओं को नहीं उठाना पड़ेगा।

शहरी स्थानीय निकाय मंत्री कविता जैन ने कहा कि गुड़मंडी फ्लाईओवर के विस्तारीकरण के लिए उनके प्रयासों को सफलता मिल रही है। मुख्यमंत्री ने इस कार्य को अपनी सैद्धांतिक स्वीकृति दे दी है। इस कार्य को लोगों के सहयोग से पूरा करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि जन सहयोग जरूरी है। साथ ही उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस सरकार के कार्यकाल में इस मांग को वे विधानसभा में उठाती रही हैं।

दशकों पुरानी मांग को पूरा कराया गया, किंतु स्थानीय कांग्रेसी विधायकों ने इसमें कोई रूचि नहीं ली। इस कारण फ्लाईओवर को गुड़मंडी की ओर एकतरफा बना दिया गया, जिसका वे विरोध करती रही हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि फ्लाईओवर का विस्तारीकरण आवश्यक है ताकि लोगों को और अधिक सुविधाएं मिल सके।

इस मौके पर भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेता रविंद्र दिलावर, मंडलाध्यक्ष नवीन मंगला, जिला परिषद के वाइस चेयरमैन बिजेंद्र मलिक, जगमोहन भारद्वाज, सुरेंद्र मदान, नीरज, पूर्व पार्षद अशोक, सतपाल कटारिया, नीटू वाल्मीकि, ओमप्रकाश बतरा, लक्ष्मण, जयप्रकाश, सुरेंद्र शर्मा, नगर निगम के एसई टीएल शर्मा, एसडीओ आरडी गोयल, एसडीओ सोमबीर आदि अधिकारी तथा गणमान्य व्यक्ति मौजूद थे।

झज्जर जिला अपनी 21वीं वर्ष गांठ मना रहा है। इन 21 सालों में झज्जर जिले का जहां आधारभूत ढांचागत विकास हुआ है वहीं रूढि़वादी सोच को दूर करते हुए सामाजिक बदलाव लाने में भी झज्जर जिले की जनता ने सरकार व प्रशासन की सहभागिता के साथ विकासोन्मुखी तरक्की की है। झज्जर को जिला बनने की वर्षगांठ पर उपायुक्त सोनल गोयल ने जिलावासियों को बधाई दी है। उल्लेखनीय है कि 15 जुलाई 1997 को झज्जर उपमंडल जिला के रूप में अस्तित्व में आया था। इससे पूर्व झज्जर रोहतक जिले का हिस्सा था।
जिले की 21वीं वर्षगांठ पर शुभकामनाएं देते हुए उपायुक्त सोनल गोयल ने कहा कि जिला बनने की यह वर्षगांठ जिले के सभी लोगों के लिए इसलिए भी महत्वपूर्ण हैं चूंकि इस साल जिले में अनेक बड़ी महत्वाकांक्षी योजनाओं की सौगात लोगों को मिली है वहीं सामाजिक सुधार की दिशा में सरकार के फ्लैगशिप कार्यक्रमों को प्रभावी ढंग से लागू करने के साथ ही लिंगानुपात में अभूतपूर्व सुधार का गवाह यह साल बना है। इतना ही नहीं आने वाले समय के लिए बेहतर इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के साथ विकास योजनाएं झज्जर जिले में धरातल पर नजर आएंगी। झज्जर जिला निर्माण के 22 वें वर्ष में प्रवेश कर रहा है और निरंतर विकासात्मक बदलाव जिले के लोगों के सामने है। उन्होंने कहा कि इन 21 वर्षों में झज्जर को विकास की अनेक परियोजनाएं मिली हैं।

जिले में ढांचागत विकास के साथ सामाजिक बदलाव भी आया :
उपायुक्त गोयल ने कहा कि यह हर्ष का विषय है कि आज झज्जर जिले की पहचान उसमें चल रहे मेगा प्रोजेक्ट के कारण पूरे प्रदेश में बनी है। जिले के उपमंडल बहादुरगढ़ में हाल ही में प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी द्वारा मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहर लाल व केंद्रीय शहरी आवास मंत्री श्री हरदीप सिंह पुरी की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति में मैट्रो सेवा की सौगात दी है। मैट्रो की दस्तक के साथ ही गेट वे आफ हरियाणा को नया रूप गेट वे डवेलपमेंट बहादुरगढ़ का मिला है। झज्जर जिले से निकल रहे केएमपी एक्सप्रेस हाईवे व बाढ़सा में राष्ट्रीय कैंसर संस्थान का निर्माण कार्य अंतिम चरण में है। झज्जर जिले में सामाजिक बदलाव के तहत गरीब व जरूरतमंद लोगों की सेवा के लिए उपायुक्त सोनल गोयल द्वारा शुरू की गई सांझी मदद, लड़कियों के लिए स्कूली स्तर पर निशुल्क नेपकिन पैड उपलब्ध कराने के लिए चलाई गई उमंग-एक पहल मुहिम, पोस्को एक्ट के तहत बाल रक्षक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन, नारी की चौपाल लगाकर महिला सशक्तिकरण के प्रति प्रशासन की ओर से सार्थक संदेश देना, शिक्षा के प्रति संजीदगी बरतते हुए जिले के तीन खंडों मातनहेल, बेरी व साल्हावास के सक्षम घोषित होने के साथ ही सामाजिक जागरूकता के तहत जिले में अब तक पांच बार झज्जर व बहादुरगढ़ शहर में राहगीरी कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन, प्रशासनिक शिविर/रात्रि चौपाल में जन समस्याओं के निराकरण सहित ग्रामीण परिवेश की महिलाओं को समसामयिक गतिविधियों में भागीदार बनाना, जागृति प्रोजेक्ट के तहत महिला सुरक्षा के प्रति प्रशासन द्वारा जिम्मेवारी का निर्वहन करना सहित अनेक सकारात्मक पहलुओं पर झज्जर जिला प्रशासन की ओर से उल्लेखनीय भूमिका अदा की है। उपायुक्त गोयल की सोच के तहत जनभागीदारी के साथ सामाजिक कुरीति दहेज व पर्दा प्रथा के खिलाफ भी आमजन लामबंद होते जा रहे हैं और उपायुक्त अपने ग्रामीण दौरे के दौरान स्वयं महिलाओं को पर्दा प्रथा से दूर होकर स्वावलंबिता के साथ विकास में सहभागी बनने की अपील भी कर रही हैं। उपायुक्त के साथ महिलाएं पर्दा प्रथा से दूर होकर उनके साथ खड़ी हो रही हैं जाकि एक सुखद सामाजिक बदलाव है। उन्होंने कहा कि झज्जर, बहादुरगढ़ व बेरी के बाद मौजूदा सरकार के कार्यकाल में बादली को उपमंडल का दर्जा दिया गया।

 

राष्ट्रपति ने भी किया उपायुक्त की कार्यशैली को प्रोत्साहित :
अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस के अवसर पर राष्ट्रपति श्री रामनाथ कोविंद द्वारा झज्जर की उपायुक्त सोनल गोयल को उनकी सामाजिक बदलाव की दिशा में उठाए गए कदमों व बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढ़ाओ राष्ट्रीय कार्यक्रम के तहत म्हारी लाडो बुकलेट को पढ़ते हुए उनकी कार्यशैली की सराहना की। उन्होंने झज्जर जिले में इस पुनीत अभियान को संजीदगी के साथ आगे बढ़ाने में उपायुक्त को बधाई भी दी। इसी क्रम में राज्यपाल प्रो.कप्तान सिंह सौलंकी ने भी झज्जर जिले को विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में रैडक्रास सोसायटी अवार्ड समारोह में सम्मानित किया। मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहर लाल द्वारा जहां जिले में जागृति प्रोजेक्ट की शुरूआत की वहीं हाल ही में झज्जर दर्पण का भी लोकापर्ण करते हुए जिले में चल रही सार्थक गतिविधियों पर संतोष जताया। उपायुक्त ने कहा कि वे झज्जर जिले में सरकार के फ्लैगशिप कार्यक्रमों के क्रियांवयन के साथ ही लैंगिक असमानता को दूर करने के लिए भी काम कर रही हैं और हाल ही के आंकडों से स्पष्ट है कि जिले में लिंगानुपात में काफी सुधार हुआ है।
उपायुक्त ने उन्होंने जिलावासियों को विश्वास दिलाया कि झज्जर जिले को विकास के मार्ग पर आगे ले जाने के लिए शासन-प्रशासन की ओर से पूरी कोशिश की जा रही है। उपायुक्त ने लोगों से आह्वान किया कि जिले को विकास के रास्ते पर अग्रणी करने के लिए हर जन अपनी जिम्मेदारी समझते हुए काम करें।

वर्षगांठ के उपलक्ष्य में रक्तदान शिविर आज गुढ़ा में :
झज्जर जिले की 21वीं वर्षगांठ के उपलक्ष्य में रविवार, 15 जुलाई को औद्योगिक प्रशिक्षण संस्थान गुढ़ा परिसर में रक्तदान शिविर का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। रक्तदान शिविर के साथ ही संस्थान में कौशल विकास की दिशा में उठाए जा रहे कदमों पर विषय विशेषज्ञों द्वारा युवाओं को जागरूक भी किया जाएगा।

Hima Das of Assam has become the First Indian Athlete to win a gold medal in a world Championship across all age groups.

Hima Das has done India proud, becoming the first winner on track in the World Under-20 athletics championships in Finland. This is a breakthrough achievement as track events have been the least productive for Indian athletes in recent decades, which have seen tremendous advancements in so many other disciplines. The Assamese teenager may have graduated to proper running shoes with spikes only a couple of years ago, but she has been most impressive in her progressive performances in the 400m event.

Her finishing prowess enabled her to move fluently in the home stretch, putting some distance between herself and her rivals in a time of 51.46 seconds. In beating all comers, including those older than her, Hima suggests she has great potential that raises the prospects of a track medal in world-level IAAF and other competitions. The younger they come out winning, even in age-level events, the better their future should be. A string of sporting accomplishments across disciplines in recent times, including in the Olympics, suggests that Indian sportswomen are getting over their inhibitions and have upped their self-confidence to the extent of being able to produce their best in international venues.

UPSC has also declared the result of civil service (preliminary) examination, 2018 for admission in Indian forest service (main) examination, 2018

The following is the text of the official release of UPSC :

Result of civil service (preliminary) examination, 2018 for candidates who have qualified for admission in indian forest service (main) examination, 2018. On the basis of screening test held through Civil Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2018 on 03-6-2018, the candidates with the following Roll Numbers have qualified for admission to the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, 2018. The candidature of these candidates is provisional. In accordance with the Rules of the Examination, all these candidates have to apply again in the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for IFoS (Main) Examination, 2018 which would be available on the website of the Union Public Service Commission www.upsconline.nic.in. All the qualified candidates are advised to fill up the DAF-IFoS, make the payment of Fee (Where applicable) as per the prescribed mode i.e. ONLINE and submit the same ONLINE for admission to the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, 2018 to be held from 2nd December 2018. The DAF will be available on the Commission website from 04-09-2018 to 18-09-2018 till 06.00 PM. important instructions (regarding filling up of the DAF-IFoS and submitting the same ONLINE to the Commission) would also be available on the website. UPSC has declared the result of result of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2018.

The following is the text of the official release of UPSC:  On the basis of the Examination, 2018 held on 03/06/2018, the candidates with the following Roll Numbers have qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2018.

The candidature of these candidates is provisional. In accordance with the Rules of the Examination, all these candidates have to apply again in the Detailed Application Form, DAF (CSM), for Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2018, which would be available on the website of the Union Public Service Commission www.upsconline.nic.in. All the qualified candidates are advised to fill up the DAF (CSM) online and submit the same ONLINE for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2018 to be held from Friday the 28.09.2018. The DAF (CSM) will be available on the website of the Commission from 23/07/2018 to 06/08/2018 till 6.00 P.M.

Important instructions for filling up of the DAF (CSM) and for submitting the completely filled application form ONLINE to the Commission, would also be available on the website. The candidates who have been declared

Novel malaria vaccine may offer treatment hope

New York, July 14, 2018: Researchers have developed a vaccine that protects against malaria infection in mouse models by targeting the specific protein that parasites use to evade the immune system.

Malaria parasites produce a unique protein, named Plasmodium macrophage migration inhibitory factor (PMIF), crucial to the life cycle of the parasite, as it ensures transmission through to new hosts.

This PMIF suppresses memory T cells — the infection-fighting cells that respond to threats and protect the body against re-infection.

The study, published in the journal Nature Communications, demonstrates the effectiveness of the anti-PMIF vaccine.

“If you vaccinate with this specific protein used by the malaria parasite to evade an immune response, you can elicit protection against re-infection,” said Richard Bucala, from Yale University in Connecticut, US.

“To our knowledge, this has never been shown using a single antigen in fulminant blood-stage infection,” Bucala added.

In the study, the team tested a RNA-based vaccine designed to target PMIF. They used a strain of the malaria parasite with PMIF genetically deleted, and observed that mice infected with that strain developed memory T cells and showed stronger anti-parasite immunity.

Further, the research team used two mouse models of malaria to test the effectiveness of a vaccine using PMIF.

One model had early-stage liver infection from parasites carried by mosquitoes, and the other, a severe, late-stage blood infection. In both models, the vaccine protected against re-infection.

Finally, the researchers transferred memory T cells from the immunized mice to “naive” mice never exposed to malaria. Those mice were also protected.

The researchers next plan to develop a vaccine for individuals who have never had malaria, primarily young children.

“The vaccine would be used in children so that they would already have an immune response to this particular malaria product, and when they became infected with malaria, they would have a normal T cell response, clear the parasite, and be protected from future infection,” Bucala said.

Truck body builders resent “forcible” GST recovery

Fatehgarh Sahib, July.14, 2018: The Truck body builders Association protested against alleged forcible recovery of 28% GST by the department officials against 18% as reduced by the Union Government.

A delegation of the Association led by Baljeet Singh Bhutta, Chairman Zila Parishad Fatehgarh Sahib called on Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra MP and submitted him a memorandum regarding charter of demands to be taken up with Union Government.

Tilak Raj Secretary of the Association told that Union Govt. has reduced the GST from 28% to 18% on the representation of the association as the truck body building is a labour work by which they provide service to truck owner and it should be covered under 18%, but unfortunately the department officials are still pressurizing them and recovering 28% forcibly on one or the other pretext.

He said they have presented charter of demands to Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra to take up the matter with Union Govt. and to issue clear cut instructions.

Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra assured the delegation that he will take up the issue with Union Minister and get their problem resolved.
