Former union minister P Chidambaram today moved a Delhi court for protection from arrest in the Aircel Maxis money-laundering case in which his son Karti Chidambaram is an accused. The court has told the Enforcement Directorate that no coercive action can be taken against Mr Chidambaram until the next hearing on June 5.

The senior Congress leader has to appear for the hearing.

Another senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal, also a former minister, represented Mr Chidambaram in court.

The Enforcement Directorate is investigating foreign investment clearance granted in 2006 to the Aircel-Maxis deal, when Mr Chidambaram was finance Minister in the Congress-led central government.

Karti Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI in February this year.

According to the CBI charge-sheet, Mauritius-based Global Communication Services Holdings, a subsidiary of Maxis, had sought approval for an investment of 800 million dollars in Aircel.

Though a cabinet panel led by the Prime Minister should have cleared the deal, the CBI said, the approval was granted by the Finance Minister at the time.

The CBI also alleges that Rs. 26 lakh was paid by Aircel Televentures Limited to a company allegedly linked to Karti Chidambaram days after the approval by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).

Nasi-Ul-Mulk to be interim Prime Miniser of Pakistan

Pakistan opposition leader has made a plea to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to appoint an interim prime minister and four interim chief ministers to supervise the process for the next general elections due by mid-2018.

One of the staunch rivals of the ruling party and leader of Awami Muslim League Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad in a statement issued in Lahore on Sunday has made a request to the Chief Justice Saqib Nisar to appoint a neutral interim prime minister for the country and chief ministers for Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure transparency before the next elections are held.

Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad who is also an ally of another opposition leader Imran Khan, the chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaaf (PTI), also said the establishment of an independent and powerful interim administration was necessary before the next elections.

Pakistan’s opposition leaders are fearing the installation of a pro-ruling party interim set-up before 90-days from election, a condition elaborated in the Constitution. Officially the elections are due by the end of June or July and a set interim set up must come by April if the elections are to be held on time.

Several other political opponents of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government have also called for setting up of an interim government to supervise and ensure fair and free elections in the country.

One of the leading opponents of present government, General(Rtd.)Pervez Musharraf has also made repeated calls for establishment of a caretaker government in Pakistan to meet the rising challenges.

A caretaker government is mandated to hold the general elections within three months or 90 days and then hand over affairs of the state to the elected government as those holding official or ministerial positions cannot take part in elections.

As per the Pakistani Constitution, “the purpose of the caretaker Cabinet in Pakistan is to create a conducive environment for genuine elections, ensuring the neutrality of the government to facilitate a smooth transfer of power from one elected government to another.”

The Constitution also says that as a non-partisan administration, the caretaker’s primary role is to exercise the routine functions of government. The experience of other countries with this institution shows that an efficient caretaker government requires a clear set of rules that define its mandate, function and neutrality.

According to media reports, the ruling party’s Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will resume consultations with leaders of parliamentary parties next week.

But according to a report published earlier in the daily Express Tribune “these contacts will only be customary and decision for caretaker prime minister and National Assembly will be taken after proper agreement with leader of the opposition so as to avoid confrontation with parliamentary committee and the Election Commission”.

Before the elections are announced the National Assembly would be dissolved but the Senate would remain intact. The ruling party is seriously worried about the role of newly elected Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani during the interim three months period.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Abbasi who is also a leader of the ruling PML-N government, has also expressed his serious reservations on election of new Senate chairman who would become an acting president of the country in the absence of PML-N- nominated current President Mamnoon Hussain.

Abbasi’s strong criticism of the Senate chairman has also drawn reactions from allied party leaders.

PML-N’s long-time ally, Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam leader and Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haidri who is now part of new alliance of Islamists on Sunday criticised the prime minister’s statement against election of Sadiq Sanjrani.

Senator Haidri, a deputy secretary-general of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA or United Action Union), in his statement said that the “prime minister should represent the nation and not one party” and claimed that “the way the PM has criticised the Senate chairman election, he himself would come under criticism”.

Monsoon hits Kerala 3 days before

The southwest monsoon hit Kerala on Tuesday, three days before its scheduled arrival, says the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The onset of monsoon over the southern state marks the commencement of the four-month-long rainy season in the country.

June 1 is the official onset date for the arrival of monsoon in the country and it takes more than a month-and-half to cover the entire country.

The IMD has made a forecast of “normal” rainfall this season.

Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency and a rival of the IMD, had said that the monsoon made its arrival in Kerala + on Monday.

According to the IMD, if after May 10, 60 per cent of the available 14 stations — Minicoy, Amini, Thiruvananthapuram, Punalur, Kollam, Allapuzha, Kottayam, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Thalassery, Kannur, Kudulu and Mangalore — report 2.5 mm or more rainfall for two consecutive days, the onset of monsoon over Kerala can be declared on the second day. This is one of the main parameters for declaring the arrival of monsoon.

Besides this factor, the westerly winds must be up to 15,000 feet above main sea level and outgoing long-wave radiation less than 200 wm-2 (watt per square metre) to declare the arrival of monsoon.

Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav on Tuesday warned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will face the anger of the farmers in the 2019 general elections.

He made the remarks at a meeting arranged by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee which marked June 5 as ‘Mandsaur Shaheed Kisan Smriti Diwas’ as six farmers were killed in the police firing in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur in 2017.

Criticising the inaction of the Madhya Pradesh government, he said that six farmers and a child named Abhishek were killed by police, but “to this day no concrete action was taken against the police officers responsible for this heinous murder”.

Last year farmers demanding the better price for the crops triggered the widespread protest in Mandsaur, in which six people killed in police firing. Initially the Madhya Pradesh government denied police firing but finally Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan confirmed it

The committee members demanded the immediate arrest of the of police personnel responsible for the killing of the six farmers.

The committee also met President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday and urged him to immediately pass the two bills prepared by the farmers of the country and asked him to arrange a parliament session to resolve the agrarian crisis.

Briefing the media about the interaction with the President, AIKS leaders said 21 political parties have signed their support for the bills and expressed confidence in passing both the bills.

Describing the four years regime of the prime minister as anti-farmer, V.M. Singh, the national President of Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan said: “Modi should immediately waive the crop loans of the farmers unconditionally in one go.”

Expressing disappointment at the rising fuel prices, he said that this has terribly hit the farmers, most of whom use diesel generators as there is absence of electricity in most of the villages.

Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani on Tuesday pooh-poohed Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s statement that he was ready to be the Prime Minister in case the Congress emerged as the single largest party after the 2019 general elections.

“I do politics in the area where Rahul Gandhi also does politics. In Amethi, he has lost every Assembly and local election in four years. How can a person not guaranteed to get re-elected in his own constituency have chances of returning to power in the country,” she told journalists in the Meghalaya capital.

“People in Amethi are not happy and he is talking of development in different parts of the country. It was during our tenure that Passport Office, Chief Medical Officer’s office and District Collector’s office in Amethi were inaugurated, while the Congress did nothing in its own bastion. How can he talk of development in the country’” the Bharatiya Janata Party leader added.

Noting that the earlier United Progressive Alliance government left behind a legacy of apathy, she said: “This is a 48-year-old legacy of apathy of one family versus 48 months of good governance under (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi,” Irani said.

“I would like to remind you that when we came to power and got the opportunity to serve the people, the economic condition of the country was poor. The government had to address the financial challenges in every sector, especially pertaining to the scams and debts incurred under the UPA rule,” she said.

Evading a direct reply to queries on fuel price hike and black money, Irani assured the people that her colleagues in the government and party President Amit Shah would offer a “time-bound solution” to the issues soon.

On Congress claims that the NDA government was inaugurating projects in the northeast which were initiated in the UPA rule, the Union Minister pointed out that the NITI Aayog, Mudra loans and the Jan Dhan Yojana were initiated by the current dispensation.

A NITI forum for the northeast was formed and its first meeting was held on May 10.

“The northeast is an area of prime focus as the Prime Minister has given a clarion call for its all-round development. A forum had been set up under the NITI Aayog to work to this end…,” the Minister said.

Now Digvijay will say “SORRY” to Gadkari

A court here on Tuesday disposed off the defamation case filed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari against senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh after both expressed their desire to settle the matter.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) allowed the joint application filed by both seeking to withdraw the case.

BJP leader Gadkari in 2012 had filed the criminal defamation case against Singh, who had accused him of having business links with his party MP Ajay Sancheti, who allegedly pocketed a huge sum in the coal block allocation.

Gadkari, in his statement recorded in the court, had denied having any business ties with Sancheti and said that Singh levelled “totally false and defamatory” allegations against him to “give the impression that I have been responsible for allocation of the coal mines” to Sancheti.

Cyclone Mekunu hits coastal Karnataka, Mangalore and Udupi

Cyclone Mekunu that caused havoc in Oman and Yemen all through last week entered India on Tuesday with the coastal districts of Karnataka – Mangalore and Udupi – among the first to bear the brunt of the sudden climate change. Schools, colleges and markets, were shut following the disruptions caused by the Cyclone. The regions witnessed heavy rainfall with uprooted trees as private weather forecaster Skymet predicted that the cyclone might make an onset in Kerala in a day or two. Earlier, the Indian Meteorological Department issued a warning regarding cyclone ‘Mekunu’ for Maharashtra-Goa coast.

सीपीएम के नेता की अगुआई में दलित की ऑनर किलिंग

केविन की हत्या की खबर सोमवार को सुर्खियों में बनी रही. चेंगन्नूर में भारी मतदान भी हुआ. अब 31 मई को मतगणना है. इसी से पता चलेगा कि क्या केविन की हत्या ने उप-चुनाव पर असर डाला?

 

केरल की सत्ताधारी लेफ्ट डेमोक्रेटिक फ्रंट (एलडीएफ) सरकार के लिए यह घटना कितनी बदतर हो सकती है, इसका अंदाजा नहीं लगाया जा सकता है. वह भी तब, जब इसका खुलासा चेंगन्नूर के महत्वपूर्ण

उप-चुनाव के दिन हुआ. इस उप-चुनाव को पिनाराई विजयन सरकार के दो साल के शासन के जनमत संग्रह के रूप में प्रचारित किया गया है. जाहिर है, ये सरकार के लिए एक जोर का झटका ही माना जाएगा.

23 साल के एक दलित लड़के केविन पी जोसेफ को रविवार को ‘ऑनर किलिंग’ के नाम पर, कथित तौर पर एक समृद्ध ईसाई परिवार की लड़की से शादी करने के लिए मार डाला गया था.

सत्तारूढ़ मोर्चे के लिए शर्मिंदगी की बात यह है कि जिस गिरोह ने केविन का अपहरण किया और बाद में हत्या कर दी, उसकी अगुआई नियास कर रहा था. नियास सीपीआई (एम) के यूथ विंग, डेमोक्रेटिक यूथ फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया (डीवाईएफआई) का सेक्रेटरी है. इस तथ्य की पुष्टि राज्य पुलिस द्वारा कर दी गई है. एक अन्य सदस्य ई शान, जो पहले से ही पुलिस हिरासत में है, भी डीवाईएफआई कार्यकर्ता माना जा रहा है.

माना जाता है कि ये अपराध उस लड़की के भाई की तरफ से किया गया है, जिसके साथ केविन पहले गायब हुआ और बाद में शादी कर ली थी. केविन का मृत शरीर सोमवार सुबह राज्य की राजधानी के करीब थेनमाला के चलियाकारा नहर से बरामद किया गया था. शुरुआती रिपोर्टों के मुताबिक, उसकी आंखें निकाल ली गई थी और गर्दन पर गहरे घाव के निशान थे.

उत्तर भारत के कई ग्रामीण हिस्सों में प्रायः ऑनर किलिंग जैसे भयानक अपराध की खबरें आती रहती है. लेकिन, केरल जैसे साक्षर राज्य में घटी ऐसी घटना ने न केवल एक साक्षर समाज को चौंका दिया है, बल्कि सत्तारूढ़ सीपीएम को भी शर्मिंदा होने पर मजबूर कर दिया है, जो खुद को दलितों की आवाज मानती है.

प्रख्यात दलित कार्यकर्ता ध्याणा रमन नेबताया, ‘यह जातीय हत्या का एक बहुत ही गंभीर मामला है. हमारे पास यह साबित करने के लिए पर्याप्त सबूत हैं कि लड़की का परिवार उसे हर कीमत पर वापस लाना चाहता था और स्थानीय डीवाईएफआई नेताओं/कार्यकर्ताओं ने मदद की. इस हत्या के राजनीतिक पक्ष है जो कि जाति आधारित राजनीति है. केविन एक शेड्यूल कास्ट का लड़का है और वास्तविकता यह है कि केरल में वामपंथी प्रगतिशील संगठन भी अब इस तरह के विवाह के खिलाफ हैं. यह एक दुखद सच्चाई है.’

अन्य गैर-दलित कार्यकर्ताओं की बातें भी ध्याणा के शब्दों को मजबूत देती हैं. इससे यह भी लगता है कि केरल में वामपंथी सरकार कैसे मूलभूत नीतियों का क्षरण कर रही है, जिससे इस तरह की प्रवृत्ति केरल जैसे प्रगतिशील राज्य में देखने को मिल रही है.

मशहूर सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता पोरान ने फ़र्स्टपोस्ट को बताया कि यह साक्षर केरल के चेहरे पर एक जबरदस्त तमाचा है. लेकिन यह अपेक्षित था, क्योंकि जब वामपंथी, जो इस तरह की बुराइयों पर पहले निगरानी रखते थे वहीं अब कॉरपोरेट के पिछलग्गू बन गए और अपनी मूल नीतियों से भटक जाएं तो केरल के समाज में भी क्षरण तो आना ही था. इसमें आश्चर्य की कोई बात नहीं है.

केरल में सत्तारूढ़ दल के लिए स्थिति खराब करने में राज्य पुलिस की भी भूमिका रही. रविवार की सुबह केविन की पत्नी नीनू चाको को जब अपने पति के अपहरण की खबर अपने चचेरे भाई अनिश से मिली तो वो कोट्टयम के गांधी नगर पुलिस स्टेशन गई.

नीनू को केविक ने पहले ही एक छात्रावास में डाल दिया था. ये काम उसने तब किया जब उसे शादी के बाद, तीन दिन से लगातार नीनू के परिवार की तरफ से गंभीर परिणाम भुगतने की धमकी मिल रही थी. शनिवार की रात को नीनू के भाई शानू चाको, डीवाईएफआई नेता नियास की अगुआई में दस लोगों ने केविन के घर पर हमला कर दिया और उसका अपहरण कर लिया था.

रविवार को पुलिस थाने के बाहर नीनू ने मीडिया को बताया,’मैं रविवार सुबह से पुलिस स्टेशन में इंतजार कर रही थी, लेकिन पुलिसकर्मी मेरी शिकायत को ले कर गंभीर नहीं थे. वे शुरू में मेरी शिकायत दर्ज करने के लिए तैयार नहीं थे. उन्होंने कहा कि चूंकि मुख्यमंत्री एक समारोह के लिए शहर में हैं, इसलिए वे उनकी सुरक्षा में व्यस्त हैं और मेरी शिकायत बाद में लेंगे.’

जब कुछ दलित संगठन पुलिस थाना पहुंचे और मीडिया ने रिपोर्ट करना शुरू किया, तब जा कर गांधी नगर पुलिस स्टेशन के उप निरीक्षक ने काम करना शुरू किया. लेकिन तब तक समय बीत रहा था और केविन को बचाया नहीं जा सका.

अपहरणकर्ता राज्य के तीन जिलों से गुजर सकते थे. चेंगान्नूर में उप-चुनाव की वजह से सुरक्षा कड़ी थी. ऐसे में पुलिस को अपहरणकर्ताओं के बारे में निश्चित जानकारी रही होगी, लेकिन पुलिस ने झूठ बोलने का काम किया.

केविन के परिवार के पास यह मानने का एक और कारण है कि पुलिस हत्यारों के साथ मिली है. केविन के पिता का दावा है कि स्थानीय पुलिस खतरे से अवगत थी, क्योंकि केविन की शादी के बाद दोनों परिवारों को, लड़की वाले के परिवार की शिकायत के बाद पुलिस थाने बुलाया गया था.

पुलिस थाने में और उसके बाद केविन के घर से भी जबरन नीनू को ले जाने का प्रयास भी किया गया था. इसके बावजूद पुलिस ने कुछ भी नहीं किया. केविन के परिवार का दावा है कि लड़की के परिवार और पुलिस के बीच मिलीभगत है. अपहरण के बाद केविन के पिता ने पुलिस को उस वाहन की पंजीकरण संख्या, जिसमें केविन का अपहरण किया गया था और नीनू के भाई का फोन नंबर भी दिया. लेकिन पुलिस ने केविन को बचाने के लिए कुछ नहीं किया.

यह भी आरोप है कि गांधी नगर स्टेशन के निरीक्षक ने खुद फोन पर नीनू के भाई से बात की थी. नीनू के भाई ने कहा था कि अगर केविन चाहिए तो पहले लड़की को घर लौटना होगा. अपहरणकर्ताओं की तलाश करने के बजाए पुलिस ने एक वार्ताकार की भूमिका निभाई. नतीजतन, एक युवा असमय मौत का शिकार हो गया.

सेवानिवृत्त पुलिस अधीक्षक सुभाष बाबू ने कहा,’यह कर्तव्य के अपमान का एक स्पष्ट मामला है. जब अपहरण जैसे गंभीर संज्ञेय अपराध की सूचना दी जाती है तो पुलिस का काम सीधे एक्शन लेना होता है, पुलिस को चाहिए था कि वो राज्य की पुलिस को सतर्क करती. तुरंत कार्रवाई करना था. शायद लड़का बचाया जा सकता था. गांधीनगर पुलिसकर्मियों को इसकी भारी कीमत चुकानी पड़ेगी.’

गांधीनगर पुलिस स्टेशन के उप निरीक्षक और सहायक उप निरीक्षक को निलंबित कर दिया गया है और कोट्टायम पुलिस अधीक्षक को स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया है. लेकिन राज्य भर में बड़े पैमाने पर शुरू हो रहे विरोध प्रदर्शन को रोकने के लिए यह शायद ही पर्याप्त हो.

कांग्रेस के नेतृत्व वाली यूडीएफ और बीजेपी ने मंगलवार को कोट्टायम जिले में हड़ताल की घोषणा की है. दोनों मोर्चों ने मांग की है कि मुख्यमंत्री पिनराई विजयन, जिनके पास गृह विभाग भी है, को तुरंत इस्तीफा देना चाहिए.

गांधीनगर पुलिस स्टेशन के बाहर सोमवार को कांग्रेस के नेतृत्व वाले यूडीएफ ने विरोध प्रदर्शन किया था. विपक्षी नेता रमेश चेन्निथला ने मीडिया से कहा, ‘मुख्यमंत्री पिनराई विजयन ने बार-बार साबित किया है कि वह गृह विभाग के लिए पूरी तरह से मिसफिट है. उन्हें इस्तीफा देना चाहिए और ये विभाग ऐसे व्यक्ति को दे जो इसे चलाने में सक्षम हो. अन्यथा केरल की कानून और व्यवस्था और बदतर हो जाएगी.’

बहुत से लोग कहते हैं कि ऐसी घटनाओं को रोकने में पुलिस की विफलता असल में पक्षपातपूर्ण निष्क्रियता की वजह से तो है ही, बल्कि पुलिस बल का भारी राजनीतिकरण भी हो चुका है. ऐसा मानने के कई ठोस कारण भी हैं. यह कोई पहला मामला नहीं है, जिसमें राजनीतिक संलिप्तता इतनी स्पष्ट है. एक महीने पहले वारापुझा में श्रीजिथ की पुलिस हिरासत में मौत हुई थी. उसमें भी राजनीतिक हस्तक्षेप स्पष्ट था. एर्नाकुलम डीवाईएसपी की भूमिका तब सामने आई थी. सत्तारूढ़ दल के एक वरिष्ठ जिला नेता के आदेश पर ही श्रीजिथ की गिरफ्तारी हुई थी. ये चर्चा शहर में तब आम थी.

ध्याणा रमन कहती हैं,’आप में से कई ने सीधे इसका सामना नहीं किया होगा. लेकिन हम केरल के पुलिस स्टेशनों में रोजाना ऐसी घटनाओं से दो-चार होते है, जहां पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं के एक फोन कॉल पर दलितों और अन्य के खिलाफ पुलिस वाले मामला दर्ज कर लेते हैं. स्थानीय सीपीएम नेताओं के साथ पुलिस वालों की मिलिभगत इतनी अधिक है कि जब तक आपको उनका समर्थन नहीं है, तब तक आप कुछ भी नहीं कर सकते हैं.’

उनके शब्दों को पिछले महीने लीक हुई एक खुफिया रिपोर्ट से और मजबूती मिलती है. डीजीपी को राज्य की पुलिस खुफिया प्रमुख द्वारा भेजी गई एक रिपोर्ट बताती है कि 2016 में वामपंथी सरकार आने के बाद से केरल पुलिस का जबरदस्त तरीके से राजनीतिकरण किया गया है.

रिपोर्ट में पुलिस एसोसिएशन की बैठकों के दौरान, पुलिस वालों द्वारा अक्सर राजनीतिक नारे लगाने और शहीदों के कॉलम को लाल रंग से रंगने के प्रयास करने जैसी बढ़ती प्रवृत्ति के बारे में बात की गई है.

ये चिंता तब और अधिक बढ़ गई जब पुलिस एसोसिएशन के राज्य सम्मेलन के दौरान उत्तरी केरल, सीपीएम का गढ़, से आने वाले 50 अधिकारी लाल रंग की कमीज पहन कर पहुंचे. वे पुलिस अधिकारी कम सत्तारूढ़ दल के कार्यकर्ता अधिक लग रहे थे.

सीआर नीलकंदन, प्रसिद्ध अधिकार कार्यकर्ता और आम आदमी पार्टी के राज्य संयोजक, ने फ़र्स्टपोस्ट को बताया, ‘यह कोई रहस्य नहीं है. राज्य पुलिस का एक बड़ा हिस्सा (लेफ्ट) पार्टी से सहानुभूति रखता है. ऐसी परिस्थितियों में जब पार्टी कार्यकर्ता पुलिस से एक खास लाइन लेने को कहते हैं तो क्या वे ऐसा नहीं करेंगे? यही कारण है कि केविन की खोज में देरी हुई, क्योंकि पुलिसकर्मी जानते थे कि इसके पीछे कौन है. अन्यथा लड़की के भाई से फोन पर बात करने के बाद भी, पुलिस ने उन्हें पकड़ने के लिए कार्रवाई क्यों नहीं की? ये एक स्पष्ट मिलीभगत है.’

इस बीच वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी चिंतित हैं और कहते हैं कि राज्य के विभिन्न स्टेशनों में तैनात औसत पुलिस अधिकारी सत्तारूढ़ राजनीतिक वर्ग के दबाव से जबरदस्त तनाव में हैं. दूसरी तरफ उन्हें कानून का भी पालन करना है. एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने नाम न छापने की शर्त पर कहा, ‘केविन केस में सब इंस्पेक्टर ने गलत विकल्प चुना और उसे अपनी नौकरी खोकर इसकी कीमत चुकानी पड़ी. लेकिन वामपंथी सत्ता के आने के बाद से युवा अधिकारियों को इस सब का सामना करना पड़ रहा है. यह पुलिस बल को एक बहुत ही खतरनाक रास्ते पर ले जा रहा है.’

इस बीच, सीपीएम ने इस अपराध में अपने किसी भी कैडर या डीवाईएफआई की भागीदारी के दावों को पूरी तरह से खारिज कर दिया है. सीपीएम विधायक एएन शमशीर ने मीडिया से कहा, ‘यह एक बहुत ही दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण ऑनर किलिंग है. केरल जैसे राज्य में ये नहीं होना चाहिए था. जहां तक हम जानते हैं कि हत्या में लड़की का परिवार शामिल है और उनकी राजनीतिक निष्ठा का यहां कोई मतलब नहीं है. पार्टी दोषी पाए गए किसी भी व्यक्ति के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करेगी.’

इस बीच राष्ट्रीय अनुसूचित जाति आयोग ने केविन की हत्या पर राज्य पुलिस से एक रिपोर्ट मांगी है और आयोग के अध्यक्ष जल्द ही स्थिति का जायजा लेने के लिए राज्य का दौरा करेंगे.

केविन की हत्या की खबर सोमवार को सुर्खियों में बनी रही. चेंगन्नूर में भारी मतदान भी हुआ. अब 31 मई को मतगणना है. इसी से पता चलेगा कि क्या केविन की हत्या ने उप-चुनाव पर असर डाला?

पूर्व राष्ट्रपति प्रणव मुखर्जी द्वारा राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के कार्यक्रम में शामिल होने का न्योता स्वीकार करने का मामला तूल पकड़ता जा रहा है। कांग्रेस के एक नेता द्वारा सवाल खड़ा करने और मीडिया में इसके सुर्खियों में आने के बाद अब बीजेपी ने इस पर करारा जवाब दिया है। संघ से लंबे समय से जुड़े रहे बीजेपी के वरिष्ठ नेता नितिन गडकरी ने कहा कि क्या RSSकोई पाकिस्तानी संगठन है, जो इस तरह मामले को उठाया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि ‘लोग तो दारू की दुकान पर जाते हैं, लेडीज बार में जाते हैं। ऐसे में अगर पूर्व राष्ट्रपति प्रणव मुखर्जी राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के कार्यक्रम में जा रहे हैं तो इसे कोई मुद्दा नहीं बनाया जाना चाहिए।’

उन्होंने कहा कि राजनीतिक अस्पृश्यता अच्छी बात नहीं है। आरएसएसके कार्यक्रम में जाने को लेकर टिप्पणी नहीं की जानी चाहिए। उधर, समाजवादी पार्टी के नेता अखिलेश यादव ने सधी हुई प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए कहा कि मैं इस मामले पर कुछ नहीं कहूंगा लेकिन इतना जरूर कहूंगा कि उस (आरएसएस) विचारधारा से देश को बचना चाहिए। इससे पहले कांग्रेस के नेता संदीप दीक्षित ने कहा था कि जो आरएसएस के खिलाफ विचार रखते थे अब वह उनके ही कार्यक्रम में जाने को तैयार हो गए हैं, ऐसे में वह क्या कहते हैं, देखना दिलचस्प होगा।

 

दीक्षित ने आरएसएस पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा कि ‘प्रणव मुखर्जी सांप्रदायिकता और हिंसा को लेकर आरएसएस की भूमिका पर पहले सवाल उठा चुके हैं। RSS को ये बातें पता होंगी। अगर उन्हें संघ अपने कार्यक्रम में बुला रहा है तो क्या प्रणव मुखर्जी ने अपनी विचारधारा बदली है या RSS में कोई स्वाभिमान नहीं बचा है।’

उधर, बीजेपी सांसद सुब्रमण्यन स्वामी ने कहा कि ‘पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी भी RSS के कार्यों की प्रशंसा कर चुकी हैं। पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू भी संघ को पर्याप्त सम्मान देते थे। आज दुनिया के कोने-कोने में आरएसएस को अलग पहचान मिली है। प्रणव वहां जाकर क्या बोलते हैं यह देखना होगा।’ स्वामी ने कहा कि जब परिस्थितयां बदलती हैं तो लोगों का नजरिया भी बदलता है। लाल बहादुर शास्त्री ने भी आरएसएस को महत्व दिया था। आज कांग्रेस का पतन हो रहा है तो मुझे लगता है कि प्रणव मुखर्जी को देश की चिंता है।

 इस बीच, आधिकारिक रूप से कांग्रेस पार्टी ने मामले से दूरी बनाते हुए कहा है कि यह सवाल पार्टी से नहीं बल्कि प्रणव मुखर्जी से पूछा जाना चाहिए कि वह संघ के कार्यक्रम में क्यों शामिल हो रहे हैं। कहा गया है कि यह फैसला प्रणव मुखर्जी का है, कांग्रेस पार्टी का नहीं।

आपको बता दें कि कांग्रेस से लंबे समय से जुड़े रहे पूर्व राष्ट्रपति प्रणव मुखर्जी ने 7 जून को नागपुर में संघ के भावी ‘प्रचारकों’ के सामने राष्ट्रवाद पर व्याख्यान देने का न्योता स्वीकार कर लिया है। वह नागपुर में आरएसएस के उन कार्यकर्ताओं को संबोधित करेंगे, जिन्होंने संघ के शैक्षिक पाठ्यक्रम का तृतीय शिक्षा वर्ग पास किया है। यह ट्रेनिंग पास करने वाले ही आगे चलकर पूर्णकालिक प्रचारक बनते हैं।

उत्तर प्रदेश के एटीएस हेडक्वॉर्टर में तैनात अपर पुलिस अधीक्षक राजेश साहनी की संदिग्ध परिस्थितियों में मौत हो गई है। हालांकि विभाग के उच्चाधिकारियों का कहना है कि उन्होंने आत्महत्या की है। उनका शव मंगलवार दोपहर एटीएस के हेडक्वॉर्टर में उनके कमरे में मिला। सूचना मिलने पर सभी आला अधिकारी मौके पर पहुंच गए हैं।

राजेश साहनी की मौत की खबर से पुलिस महकमे में हड़कंप मच गया है। हालांकि मौके पर पहुंचे एडीजी लॉ ऐंड ऑर्डर आनंद कुमार ने बताया कि राजेश साहनी ने अपने ऑफिशल रिवॉल्वर से खुद को गोली मारी है। उन्होंने आत्महत्या क्यों की यह अभी तक पता नहीं चल पाया है।

1992 बैच के पीपीएस सेवा में चुने गए राजेश साहनी 2013 में अपर पुलिस अधीक्षक बने थे। वह मूलतः बिहार के पटना के रहने वाले थे। 1969 में जन्मे राजेश साहनी ने एमए राजनीति शास्त्र से किया था। राजेश साहनी ने बीते सप्ताह आईएसआई एजेंट की गिरफ्तारी समेत कई बड़े ऑपरेशन को अंजाम दिया था। 

राजेश साहनी की गिनती तेज तर्रार अधिकारियों में होती है। उन्होंने कई आतंकवादियों को गिरफ्तार किया था। वह एटीएस में एएसपी के पद पर तैनात थे। गोमती नगर स्थित हेडक्वॉर्टर में उनका ऑफिस था। सूत्रों ने बताया कि साहनी मंगलवार को छुट्टी पर थे लेकिन वह फिर भी ऑफिस आए।

इस मामले पर यूपी पुलिस के डीजीपी ओपी सिंह ने कहा, ‘हमें बताते हुए अत्यधिक कष्ट हो रहा है कि राजेश साहनी (एएसपी एटीएस) नहीं रहे। वह यूपी पुलिस के सबसे काबिल ऑफिसर्स में से एक थे। उनकी आत्महत्या के कारणों के बारे में अभी तक पता नहीं चल पाया है। हमारी प्रार्थना उनके परिवार के साथ हैं। उनकी आत्मा को शांति मिले।’
