Punjab Plastic Waste Management Society (PPWMS) organized “Awareness Workshop for rag-pickers / waste collectors on Plastic Waste Collection, Segregation and Sanitation” at Nagar Panchayat Moonak, Punjab

Punjab Plastic Waste Management Society (PPWMS) organized “Awareness Workshop for rag-pickers / waste collectors on Plastic Waste Collection, Segregation and Sanitation” at Moonak, Punjab on 31st October, 2023, Tuesday. The event was organized by Punjab Plastic Waste Management Society (PPWMS) and Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), which is implementing agency of PPWMS. 

Dr. Reena Chadha delivered the workshop and engaged participants in various games and activities based on the subject. More than 50 Waste collectors participated in the programme, and were distributed safety kits including safety jackets, gloves, masks, soaps pamphlets and refreshments during the event, at Office of Moonak Nagar Panchayat. 

All the officials of Moonak Nagar Panchayat namely Mr. Chandar Parkash Wadhwa (Executive Officer), Mr Paramjit Singh (Sanitation Inspector), Mr. Bobby Kumar (Clerk), Mr. Parshottam Lal (Clerk), Mr. Pardeep Sharma (Clerk), Mr. Sandeep Singh (CF), Mr. Ajay Parocha (Motivator), Mr. Jassii Ram (Motivator), Mr. Amit (Motivator), Mr. Kaushal (Motivator), participated and supported the event.

Mr. Parbhakar Mishra, Chairman, PPWMS informed that “these IEC activities are being conducted regularly under action plan of Punjab Plastic Waste Management Society (PPWMS), for waste collectors in various districts of Punjab. These activities are significant for ensuring sustainable action towards management of plastic waste, and increasing their skills and knowledge for effective plastic waste management, while ensuring their health/ sanitation during waste collection, as saviors of environment”. Through these programmes Punjab Plastic Waste Management Society (PPWMS) has been able to network with more than 600 waste collectors in the region.
