UIFT conducts Workshop on Qualitative analysis through Atlas ti

University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development, Panjab University, conducted a workshop on ‘Qualitative analysis through Atlas ti’ on 29th September 2023. This workshop was conducted by Dr. Kavita Jarodia, an anthropologist and a senior Associate, Clinical Outcomes Assessment at Parexel International India Pvt. LTD. This workshop drew 34 participants- Faculty, Research scholars, masters’students from Department of Public health, Department of Anthropology, Department of Laws and UIFT & VD.
The resource person emphasised the importance of using software for analysis of research work. The session further moved on analysing qualitative data analysis by using Atlastisoftware. Dr.Kavita elaborated various aspects related to qualitative analysis- developing extensive codebook structures, making transcripts and conducting clinical and in-depth interviews and contributing to the technical reports. She further made the participant understand the value of making a good code book. As she is familiar with new trends for data analysis in real-world settings, she emphasised that the New researchers should get familiarized with new tools and techniques used in Industry to make data look technical and more transparent to big agencies who deal with structured and non-structured interviews for data collection.
The session was enriching that was filled with many queries from the participants, which were answered citing real world examples by the resource person. Many participants felt that such software can help them understand and carry their research in more depth. Dr Ramandeep Bawa, Guest Faculty, UIFT & VD coordinated the workshop.
