Mrunali Pande finally emerged the winner of Blind National Women Chess Championship, 2023

Demokratic Front, Chandigarh – April 17  :

After 4 days of intense competition amongst the top Blind Women Chess players of India, Mrunali Pande finally emerged the winner of Blind National Women Chess Championship, 2023.

Tijan Punaram Gawar grabbed 2nd position whereas Megha Chakraborty had to settle for 3rd position. Rathi Himanshi and Vruthi Jain secured 4th and 5th positions respectively. Rs 50,000 cash prizes were distributed to the first five positions. Winners and runners up were also awarded trophies, medals and certificates besides cash prizes. A memento presented to Sh Satya Pal Jain, Ex MP, Chandigarh during inauguration ceremony was accepted by him and returned for giving it to the winner of the Championship which was, therefore, duly gifted to the winner Ms Mrunali Pande as per his wishes.

Prizes were distributed amongst the winners by Smt Madhvi Kataria, IAS, Director Social Security, Women & Child Development, Punjab, Sh Ajay Arora, IAS, Additional Secretary, Social Justice, Empowerment & Minorities, Punjab, and Sh K.C Mittal, Chairman, MG Contractors Pvt Ltd at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Smt Madhvi Kataria gave a very inspiring and motivational speech and offered full support to National Association for the Blind for jointly conducting future National level events with Punjab Govt.
