All India yuva tabla mahotsav 20th August to 23rd August

 

Pracheen Kala Kendra is going to organize four day  Musical treat in form of  All India Yuva Tabla Mahotsav to promote young and upcoming talent from all over India.   Tabla  is the main originating from the Indian Subcontinent, consisting of a pair of drums, used in traditional, classical, popular and folk music. It  has been a particularly important instrument in Hindustani classical music since the 18th century, and remains in use in IndiaPakistanAfghanistanNepalBangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

This festival is being organized with sole aim to  promote  young and upcoming artists of  gharanas of Tabla who are flag bearers of    our cultural heritage.  So , the Kendra has endeavor to organize a four  day Tabla Mahotsav  in the city at M.L. Koser Indoor Auditorium, Sector 35 complex of Kendra, Chandigarh  from 20th to 23rd August 2018 at 6:30 p.m. daily. A brief pen sketch of the participating Tabla sensations  is  appended below:

Nishit Gangani: Nishit Gangani  is  disciple of  Pt. Fateh Singh Gangani . He is child prodigy of  famous Ganganis . Nishit (15 years old) is the newest addition to the bandwagon. The continuum between uncle and nephew consists of siblings, cousins, fathers and grandfathers.

Zargham Khan:  Zargham is  child prodigy of Ajrara Gharana renowned Tabla exponent Ustad Akram Khan. He is  disciple of Ustad Hashmat Khan . He is youngest Tabla player of  Khan family. His  hands are  like  thunder on Tabla.

Aarchik Banerjee: Aarchik Banerjee is  prodigal child of Vocalist Nibedita Banerjee and Tabla Maestro Pt. Shubhankar Banerjee . Inspite of being  a school student , a football fanatic , his first love is Tabla.  His first performance  was in Switzerland  at the age  of 8.  He is blessed to be appreciated by  Tabla  Maestroes  like  Pt. Shankar Ghogh, Pt. Anindo Chatterjee , Pt. Swapan Chowdhury   , Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia. He performed in various events  in India and abroad.

Tarun Lala: Tarun lala was born on 27th July 1993. He started learning Tabla at the early age of Four from Shri Sandeep Chauhanji and after him he learned from Shri Suresh khadanvisji. Tarun gave his first performance at the age of six at South Central Cultural Zone. He is blessed to learn  Tabla intricacies  from  Great tabla Maestro Pt. Arvind Mulegaonkar ji.  He has given many performances throughout India and won the appreciation from audience and critic alike.

Vinay Mundhe:  Vinay Mundhe is learning Tabla for last10 years . Initially he has learned from Shri. Avinash Patwardhan and after that Sh.  Sagar Mestry in Mumbai, later he continued his training under Sh. Swapnil Bhise. Currently he is taking further guidance and taalim of Punjab gharana from Pt.Yogesh Samsi. He has received silver medal in national level youth festival from Mumbai University, He has won 1st prize in Pt. Nandan Mehta Taal-vadya Spardha 2018 organized by Saptak & Gujarat Government at Ahmedabad. In academics, he is completing his graduation in Tabla (B.A.in Music) from university of Mumbai.

Shivagrah Bhattacharya:  Shivargh Bhattacharya is  a young table player from Lucknow gharana . He is a graduate in Mass Communication .  He started learning Tabla in the age of six.. he is gandabandh  Shagird of Ustad Ilmas Husain Khan , a prominent pillar of  Lucknow gharana. Shivagrah  also grabed 1st position in State level music competition by SNA Lucknow.. He also received a scholarship from Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. He has performed not only in India but in abroad as well.

Ishaan Ghosh:

Rabab Singh: Rabab Singh is Son of Ustad Kulwinder Singh (Disciple of Ustad Alla Rakha Khan). Completed my Schooling from New St. Soldier Senior Secondary School, Punjab, 2012 &Currently Doing my BA from Guru Nanak College, Punjab.His early training from Ustad Kulwinder Singh & now learning under the Guidance of Ustad Fazal Qureshi of Punjab Gharana. He performed in India and abroad and won applause from all.

Romaan Khan: Born in the year 1996 into a family of musicians. Romaan Khan is the son of Danish Aslam Khan. Romaan Khan belongs to the Ajrada gharana and is the grandson and disciple of Ustad Hashmat Ali Khan Sahib who was a prominent exponent of this gharana. Romaan started learning Tabla at a very young age from his maternal Uncle Ustad Shafaat Ahmed Khan Sahab who was the leading exponent of dilli gharana. later he continued his main training under the guidance of his grandfather Ustad Hashmat Ali Khan.,  Ustad Chhamma Khan Sahab , Ustad Akram Khan . Romaan has performed in many festivals.

 

Shahbaaz Khan: Shahbaaz Khan was born in a traditional family of Music of Delhi Gharana. He is a son of the famous Tabla Maestro Ustad Shakeel Ahmed Khan & the Grandson of Ustad Usman Khan- the famous Classical Vocalist of Delhi Gharana. He is great maternal grandson S/o Doyen of Ajrara Gharana Ustad Niyazu Khan Saheb and Doyen of Farukhabaad Gharana Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Saheb. Shahbaaz started his initial training under the guidance of hisfather Ustad Shakeel Ahmed Khan since the age of four years now he is under the prestigious wings of his Maternal Grandfather Ustad lqbal Hussain KhanSaheb of Farukhabaad and Ajrara Gharana. Shahbaaz is a child prodigy and performing on the stage since the age of 8 years. He has been performing invarious concerts in Delhi and also performed in various parts of country and abroad, has given some of the TV recordings for channels like DD National etc.

Reshma Pandit: Reshma is a young percussionist and fabulous  Solo Tabla performer. Born in 1991, was a keen interest in Tabla playing from very tender age.  She learnt tabla from  her father Pt. Kumar Pandit.  She  has performed in  many prestigious events in India and abroad.

Jyotirmoy Roy Chowdhury : Jyotirmay was initiated in Tabla at the age of four by great Tabaliya Pt. Abhijit  Banerjee in the year 1996 with familiar love & affection. After 12 years of learning, Jyotirmay started to take lessons from the Tabla wizard Late Pt. Shankar Ghosh. Finally, he could able to reach before his long cherished, legend of Tabla, Taalyogi Padmashree Pt. Suresh Talwalkar for further extensive training at Pune, Maharastra, which is continuing till date.
