Koral ‘Purnoor’, Demokratic Front, Chandigarh –  October 12  :

The Centre for Women Development Cell, UILS, Panjab University celebrated International Girl Child Day in a very eventful manner by organising a case study event ‘Unsung Female Heroes’ on 12th October in the Moot Court Hall, UILS. The event was coordinated under the able guidance of Prof. Rajinder Kaur (Director, UILS, PU). The event began with the welcome speech for our revered Teacher Coordinator, Dr. Anupam Bahri, delivered by diligent convener of the Centre for Women Development Cell, Ramyajit Kaur.

The activities of the event were carried out with the help of student coordinators Aarushi Aggarwal and Kashish Garg and there were a total of 35 entries of participants. All the participants performed fantastically. It was astounding to see the enthusiasm and awareness in each person who came forward to present a case study on their favourite female hero. Some of their case studies were on distinguished and eminent personalities such as Savitribai Phule, Jhalkaribai, and Sunita Krishnan. The audience enjoyed the event at most and imbibed the gracious words. The participants were fortunate to have Prof Dr Atambir, Dr Shalu and Dr Anupam Bahri as the judge for the competition.

The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates.

The event concluded, with our convenor RamyaJit Kaur presenting a vote of thanks to all the teacher coordinators, participants and club members because of whose collective efforts this successful and impactful event was possible. The entire event was indeed a creative and knowledgeable one that focused on  helping students understand the  indispensable role of women in the society.
