C M Manohar Lal directed DC Mahavir Kaushik to call meeting to prevent the spread of dengue in Pinjore and Kalka areas of the district

            On the direction of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal, Deputy Commissioner Sh. Mahavir Kaushik today called a meeting to chalk out an effective strategy to prevent the spread of dengue in Pinjore and Kalka areas of the district. 

            The meeting held in the office of Director General Health Services in Sector-6, was also attended by DGHS Dr. Veena Singh, former Kalka MLA Latika Sharma and Chairman, Kalka Municipal Council, Krishan Lal Lamba . 

            It was decided to constitute three member teams comprising employees of Health Department, Kalka Municipal Council and volunteers who would go door-to-door in dengue affected areas in Kalka and Pinjore to detect and destroy the mosquito larvae. To ensure this, additional manpower will be deployed by the health department. Apart from this, frequency of fogging would be increased in and outside the houses and spraying of medicine in drains would be carried out. To make people aware, pamphlets of ‘Dos and Don’ts’ would be got printed and distributed by the Health Department. Emphasizing the need of community participation in the effective control of the disease, it was also decided that the councilors of Kalka Municipal Council would sensitize the people about the measures to be taken to prevent the disease.

            It was informed that besides deputing sufficient number of doctors and other paramedical staff, adequate stock of medicine is being made available in the sub-divisional hospital Kalka. Apart from this, a control room will soon be set up at Kalka Hospital so as to provide necessary assistance in case of emergency. It was also informed that a new Testing lab has been set up in Kalka Hospital for dengue and other blood related tests. This lab will also remain functional in day time on Sundays also. In addition, a Dengue Elisa Reader has also been installed in the hospital to confirm cases of dengue virus.

            Among those present in the meeting included SDM Kalka Ruchi Singh Bedi, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Panchkula Deepak Sura, Executive Officer Municipal Council, Kalka Nisha Sharma, Tehsildar Kalka Vikram Singla, Civil Surgeon Panchkula Dr. Mukta Kumar, Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department Vikas Lather, Sanitary Inspector, Municipal Corporation Panchkula Avinash Singla, other officers of Health Department and Councilors of Municipal Council.
