OBCs should also get reservations in appointments at Advocate General Office Punjab   – Dr Ranauta

Demokretic Front Correspondent, Chandigarh :

Dr Haracharan Singh Ranauta National General Secretary of the OBC federation India welcomed the initiative of the Punjab Government in which through an advertisement applications are invited for eligible Scheduled caste advocates/candidates for engagement as law officers in the office of Advocate General, Punjab at Punjab and Haryana High Court  but at the same time Dr Ranauta expressed discontent over lack of representation and consideration towards OBC candidates as they were equally entitled to reservation in AG office Punjab.
Dr Harcharan Singh Ranauta further stated that OBCs of Punjab have been kept out of key posts on the administrative and political sides for too long. He further told that over the last decades’ successive governments have come up with all kinds of plots and pleas to defy the rights of the OBCs of Punjab. He charged previous state governments with ” betraying” them and he said now the present government is doing the same.

While addressing the media Mr. Jaspal Singh Kheeva National Vice President of All India Backward Classes Federation pointed out issues like the implementation of the Mandal Commission and Kaka Kelkar’s recommendations. He said all other states other than Punjab are following the recommendations of these commissions to a major extent but it is a very sad state of affairs that Punjab is nowhere close to  its counterparts in the implementation of the guidelines of the above-mentioned commissions
Mr Ranauta requested Hon’ble Chief Minister that OBCs candidates should also be given space in the AG office through adequate reservation. He further stated  If the government fails to address the grievances of OBCs a state-wide movement will be started and if found necessary the doors of the Punjab and Harayana Highcourt or Supreme Court of India will also be knocked.
