Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Gian Chand Gupta today inaugurated the three-day 15th Ashwani Gupta Memorial District Badminton Championship at Tau Devi Lal Sports Stadium

              Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Gian Chand  Gupta today inaugurated the three-day 15th Ashwani Gupta Memorial District Badminton Championship at Tau Devi Lal Sports Stadium, Sector-3 here today.

 About 125 sports persons including the winners of National Championship, 2019 (Under-17) Devika Sihag and Riddhi Kaur Toor  and the silver medalist of  2015 National Games, Akshit Mahajan are participating in this championship being organized under the aegis of Ashwani Gupta Memorial Trust and District Badminton Association, from April 2 to 4, 2021 .

On this occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Sh. Kulbhushan Goyal and other dignitaries paid floral tributes to late Sh. Ashwani Gupta.

Speaking on this occasion, Sh Gupta said that Ashwani Gupta Memorial District Badminton Championship has been organized in memory of his late son Sh Ashwani Gupta for the last 15 years. He said that after the demise of Shri Ashwani Gupta, Ashwani Gupta Memorial Trust was formed in his memory.

He said that four programs are organized by the Trust every year in the memory of late Ashwani Gupta which also includes this Badminton Championship. Apart from this, blood donation camp, eye operation camp and kabaddi championship to encourage the youth in the village are also organized by the Trust. He said that with a view to encourage the youth towards sports, prizes of up to Rs 5 lakh are distributed every year. This not only motivates the youth to take up sports in their life by channeling  their energy in the right direction but also helps them  stay away from the bad habit of drugs, he added. Apart from this, the Trust also provides financial assistance to the children of those poor families who could not go to school for studies for the want of money.

        Mr. Gupta said that Ashwani Gupta Memorial District Badminton Championship could not be organized last year due to Corona pandemic. But this year, it has been decided that the sports competitions should be continued by following the Covid-19 guidelines.  He also appealed to the people to maintain social distancing and use masks and sanitizers to protect themselves from this dangerous disease.

He said that our scientists have given a huge gift to all of us by developing corona vaccines to put a strong fight against this Pandemic. He said that the Corona vaccine is necessary to prevent people from Corona.  He said that along with the vaccine, collective efforts are also necessary to prevent the further  spread of Corona. He  called upon the sports persons participating in Badminton Championships to play the games in its true spirit by following the Covid19 guidelines .

Sh Gupta said that Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Shri Sandeep Singh would felicitate the winners of Championship by giving them trophies on concluding day of the Championship on April 4, 2021.  He hoped that Ashwani Gupta Memorial Trust would continue to give its vital contribution in organizing various social service activities.

On this occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. Gian Chand Gupta and Mayor, Municipal Corporation Mr. Kulbhushan Goyal encouraged the sports persons by playing badminton.

Soni, District BJP President Ajay Sharma, President Mahila Morcha, Paramjit Kaur, General Secretary Umesh Sood, Chairman, Haryana Chambers of Industries and Commerce, Vishnu Goyal, Chairman , Chambers of Industries and Commerce, Panchkula Arun Grover, Councilor Narendra Lubana and  Harendra Malik and other dignitaries were also present.
