Dr.SSBUICET, PU Conducts online Workshop

Dr.S.S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with DUIET, Dibrugarh, Assam under aegis of TEQIP-III inaugurated one week online workshop titled “ Statistical Tools for Research” 5th to 10th January,2021 for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department and its Mentee Institute, Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering & Technology, Dibrugarh.
The Programme started with an inaugural address by Chief Guest and Chairperson Prof. Amrit Pal Toor. Dr.Harjit Kaur (Coordinator) welcomed the guests including Vice Chancellor Prof.Raj Kumar (Chief Patron) , Chairperson Prof. Amrit Pal Toor and Prof. Anupama Sharma (Coordinator-TEQIP-III) and the expert for today’s session, Dr.Tilak Raj from University Business School, PU, Chandigarh.
The workshop began with highlighting the role of Statistical tools in research that are seen as guides for learning from data and navigating common problems that can lead you to incorrect conclusions. Given the growing importance of decisions and opinions based on data, it’s crucial that you can critically assess the quality of analyses that others present to you which comes in handy by the use of tools.
The Workshop began today with the first session on index numbers highlighting their importance in business analysis and various methods used to construct index numbers. Other topics such as non-parametric methods of analysis, quality by design, sampling design shall be covered in coming weeks. The programme received a resounding response from all the attendees. The workshop provided forth a great ambience to the attendees wherein they have imbibed knowledge which is impeccable and useful in their course of education. The course aims at building concepts and laying the foundation to understand the different skill sets needed in data analysis and how we utilize these skills in statistical analysis everyday to enrich our lives.
