04 persons arrested while consuming liquor at public place under special drive

          In continuation of a special drive against consuming liquor at public place, yesterday, the drive was carried out in different parts of the city. Under this drive total 04 different cases U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered in different police stations of Chandigarh in which total 04 persons were arrested while consuming liquor at public   place. All later on bailed out. The detail of police Stations in which cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 got registered:- PS-17= 03 cases, PS-I.T. Park = 01 case.

This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law.

Two arrested for possessing illegal liquor

          Chandigarh Police arrested Balwinder R/o # 6548/B, Sector- 56, Chandigarh while he was illegally possessing 20 quarters of country made liquor from T-Point near Sports complex, Sector- 56, Chandigarh on 21.07.2019. A case FIR No. 230, U/S 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Later he was bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

          Chandigarh Police arrested Sheru Kumar R/o # 6614/B, Sector- 56, Chandigarh while he was illegally possessing 20 quarters of country made liquor from near Sr. Sec. School, Sector- 56, Chandigarh on 21.07.2019. A case FIR No. 231, U/S 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Later he was bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Action against Gambling/Satta

          Chandigarh Police arrested Krishan Lal R/o # 256, Indira Colony, Manimajra, Chandigarh and Lakhan R/o # 1913, Indira Colony, Manimajra, Chandigarh both were arrested from Public toilet, Indira Colony, Manimajra, Chandigarh on 21.07.2019. Total cash Rs. 2,500/- was recovered from their possession. In this regard, a case FIR No. 164, U/S 13-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered in PS-I.T Park, Chandigarh. Later they released on bail. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Action against violation of orders of DM, UT, Chandigarh

A case FIR No. 101, U/S 188 IPC has been registered in PS-Sarangpur, Chandigarh against Pyara Singh R/o # 238, village- Sarangpur, who rent out his residence but did not given information to local Police.  Accused arrested and later bailed out.

MV Theft

Rajiv Kumar R/o # 757, Phase- 2, Ram Darbar, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s M/Cycle No. CH-01AP-6064 while parked near # 1280, Sector- 22/B, Chandigarh on 13.07.2019. A case FIR No. 233, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Accident

          A case FIR No. 163, U/S 279, 304-A IPC has been registered in PS-I.T Park, against diver of unknown vehicle who sped away after hitting to motor cycle No. CH-01BL-4946 near railway light point, Chandigarh on 21.07.2019. Occupant of motor cycle namely Mohhamad Shanu R/o # 1436/16, Sector- 29/B, Chandigarh (age- 26 yrs.), Shahrukh (age- 25 yrs) and Haider R/o # 1435/11, Sector- 29/B, Chandigarh (age- 24 yrs) got injured and admitted in PGI, Chandigarh where they declared brought dead. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Burglary

Ladala R/o # 1310, Village- Burail, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away cash 8000/-, 02 mobile phones, gold mangal sutra, 01 pair of anklets from complainant’s residence during night intervening 20/21.07.2019. A case FIR No. 190, U/S 380, 457 IPC has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.
