Major drug haul recovered by Chandigarh Police

A special drive was carried out by crime branch Chandigarh against the drug menace in the city under the supervision of DSP Crime Sh. Sukhraj Katewa. During this drive in last seven days 6 cases of NDPS were registered. Detail is under:-

Today a team of crime branch led by Insp. Amanjot Singh got major success when they apprehended one Anoop Ram S/o Sh. Lal Das R/o Vill. Godighat, PS-Banjar Distt. Kullu HP and from him a major drug haul was recovered.
Profile of accused.
Anoop Ram S/o Sh. Lal Das R/o Vill. Godighat, PS-Banjar Distt. Kullu Himachal Pradesh, age 32 year, Height 5’ 9”, Married, Qualification 8th class fail, Profession Taxi Driver in Manali.
Today as the city was on high alert the team of Crime Branch was on routine Naka duty near Mullanpur Barrier and was checking suspected vehicles, in the afternoon during this checking one Bolero Jeep bearing temporary number HP33-9257 (T) which was being driven by Anup Kumar came, on suspicion the driver of the vehicle was questioned who got nervous and try to run with vehicle but as the Naka was fully barricaded he did not get any chance to run away with vehicle so he got down from his Bolero Jeep and started running towards Mullanpur and was apprehended after 15-20 meters of chase, he was carrying one white colour bag with him and on checking the Charas was recovered in the bag and further on weighing it was found i.e. 4 kg 400 grams. On interrogation of the accused it has been come to notice that he is resident of Vill. Godighat, PS-Banjar Distt. Kullu and he has come here to deliver the stuff in Chandigarh near bus stand Sec.17, Chandigarh. In this regards FIR No. 28 dated 1.3.2019 u/s 20 NDPS Act PS-Saranpur, Chandigarh was registered.
Modus Operandi
Accused is a taxi driver by profession and who so ever in search for charas goes to Mandi (Himachal) and somehow come in contact with him, he further strike deal with them and provide stuff as per their demands wherever it is required.
Previous history of the accused.
Accused Anoop Ram S/o Sh. Lal Das R/o Vill. Godighat, PS-Banjar Distt. Kullu has a tainted past and has been arrested previously by Mandi Police in January 2018 with 886 grams charas and in this case in remained in Mandi jail for 40 days.
