An interactive session was organised in the department of English and Cultural Studies. Professor Meena T. Pillai, Director, Institute of English, Centre for Cultural Studies, University of Kerela, spoke eloquently on the dynamics governing the popularity of cinema and it’s role in the propagation of gendered stereotypes.The representation of women in Indian cinema was examined and the underpinning ideological positions were exposed and questioned.
