Interactive Dialogue of Centre for Human Rights & Duties with the VC, PU on Major Thrust Areas

 The team comprising faculty, guest faculty and research scholars of the Centre for Human Rights and Duties ,Panjab University Chandigarh gave a presentation on major thrust areas of the Centre before the Vice Chancellor, Prof Raj Kumar. He applauded research and advocacy efforts of the Centre. It was recommended that the university will introduce human rights courses both at Post Graduate and Under Graduate level as well as in the Department of Evening Studies to make human rights education accessible in institutes of higher learning which is also mandated by UN World Programme on Human Rights Education.

 It was also suggested that the USOL should appoint research scholars in their PG Diploma Course in Human Rights and Duties as guest faculty to give more opportunities to the pass-outs holding UGC-NET qualification in the subject. Certificate, Diploma Courses and training programme would be initiated for various governmental departments including police personnel, corporate houses, NGO’s and general masses. 

PU VC appreciated the suggestion of introducing two proposed UGC Chair and Subject areas i.e. Kailash Satyarthi Chair-Child Rights and Pushpa Kapila Hingorani Chair- Access to Justice.
