This skill development training programme will be benefiting juvenile offenders, victims of crime: Jayanta Dass

Today, Mega Counseling Session of skill development programme under “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna” by Chandigarh Police was completed at Multi-Purpose Hall, Police Lines, Sec-26, Chandigarh in which about 600 male/female participated. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT- Nodal Officer for project, was present at this function. A welcome address was given by Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT and all participants were made familiar/conversant with skill programme of Govt i.e. “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna”. Jayanta Dass, Primero Skills founder gave lecture on youth development. He shared success stories of children in yuva programme of Delhi Police. DGP/UT in official address said “This skill development training programme will be benefiting juvenile offenders, victims of crime, poor youths and youth likely to fall into habit of drugs. Chandigarh Police will stand beside them to get a better place in society and live life peacefully. He requested parents of youths to ensure that they should attend this skill development programme regularly. The youth will also be made aware about traffic rules, bad effects of drugs in their lives under this programme.” W/DGP UT also interacted with the students and gave his guidance to students on this programme. In a lively address, W/DGP urged youth to respect women and not to engage in domestic violence/ molestation/ eve-teasing.

            Thereafter, counseling and interview session of the participants/candidates held accordingly, to choose their course according to their interest and caliber. This programme is for youths who are unemployed and may land in wrong company & crime. This skill development programme of Chandigarh Police for youths has also been approved by skill ministry. Govt. is also providing mudra loan to start own business to trainees once they pass out.

            Chandigarh Police is giving this training free of cost and will also help them to get better placement. Inauguration of this Skill Development Programme will be held soon. Under this skill development program 480 students will be trained under vocational courses in (1) Beauty and wellness (2) General Duty Hospital Assistant (3) Retail Store Assistant (4) Food & Beverage assistance. The classes for this training will be held in Police Station – 34, 26 and Police Post 24.

            This Skill Development Programme will help to reduce unemployment which is being faced by the youths in the modern era. Such type of courses will motivate these unemployed youths to live their life peacefully and will help in creating a better society; it is a community policing initiative to bridge the gap between police and public.
