Celebrity Cricket League 2025 to kick off on January 31 with Punjab De Sher leading the charge, Mohali to host two matches

The much-awaited Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) is set to return, connecting cine stars with their fan base through the beloved sport of cricket. Scheduled to commence on January 31, 2025, in Hyderabad, this star-studded tournament will span nearly a month, culminating with grand finale at Visakhapatnam (Vizag) on February 23. Bringing together 200 renowned actors from eight Indian film industries, CCL promises a thrilling fusion of entertainment and sportsmanship.

Addressing at a press conference, Punjab De Sher’s co-owners Puneet Singh and Navraj Hans  along with the team management, shared their enthusiasm for the upcoming season. Representing Punjab since 2016, Punjab De Sher will once again take center stage in the league, competing in four league matches within their group. Mohali would be hosting two matches of the CCL on Feb 15 and 16. 

The team will be captained by celebrated actor and social worker Sonu Sood, joined by an impressive lineup of Pollywood stars including Binnu Dhillon, Aparshakti Khurana, Navraj Hans, Gurpreet Guggi, Hardy Sandhu, Babbal Rai, Jassi Gill, Ninja, Dev Kharod, Manmeet Singh (meet brothers), Suyyas Rai, Karan Wahi, Daksh Ajit Singh, Gavie Chahal, Mayur Mehta, Anuj Khurana and Rahul Jaitly. The team is being coached by noted coach Amit Uniyal.

Highlighting the league’s growing impact, Puneet Singh reflected on CCL’s journey since its inception in 2011. With ten successful editions to date, the league has established a global reach, connecting with over 250 million fans worldwide. The previous edition marked a record-breaking season with a digital reach of billion impressions, setting the stage for an even bigger event this year.

The 2025 tournament will continue to adopt the innovative format introduced in 2019—four innings of 10 overs each—ensuring fast-paced, high-energy matches. All league and playoff games, along with the final, will be broadcast on Sony Sports Network and leading regional channels.

Punjab De Sher is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations for the league. The team plans to host exhibition matches with corporate houses in Mohali and Chandigarh and has called on educational institutions across Punjab to actively support the initiative.

CCL, which debuted in 2011 in Vizag, has grown to become a major sporting event, attracting cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar to its opening ceremonies in the past. As the countdown begins for the 2025 edition, fans can look forward to a spectacular celebration of cricket, camaraderie, and cinematic flair.
