1 cr ransom sought after kidnapping and assault, police didn’t help

Victim tells the media that he might get kidnapped again

Demokratic Front, Chandigarh   May 24         :

Inderjeet Singh Brar s/o Sukhchain Singh Brar, a resident of TDI-74, Mohali, was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted by two people in Amritsar, who demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom. The victim, living under the fear of kidnapping and assault once again, alleged that the Mohali police did not support him. This press conference was organized at Chandigarh Press Club.

Inderjeet told the media today that on May 19, accused Mandeep and Jaskaran called him to Amritsar for some work and kidnapped him at gunpoint. They beat him up at their farmhouse and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore.

He said that he was forced to drink alcohol. Then both the accused along with their accomplices kept on assaulting him. They also made his nude videos and threatened to make the videos viral if he reported the matter to the police. After the assault, the accused made Inderjeet put his thumb impression on blank papers and sign them. He was also forced to give arbitrary statements in the video.

Since then Inderjeet has been living in fear and is making rounds of the Mohali police station. He also complained to the higher police officers, including SSP Mohali, in writing, but to no avail. Troubled, he approached the media.
