Hindi day was jointly celebrated by Urdu and Sanskrit departments of the Panjab University, Chandigarh.In his presidential address Prof. V.K Alankar, Chairperson of the Sanskrit department said that the trinity in Sanskrit, Urdu and Hindi languages have enriched the literary traditions of our country glorifying its glorious achievements in various domains of our life and culture.“Today, Sanskrit as grandmother has the satisfaction to see that her two daughters in Hindi & Urdu are producing world class literature.” Prof. Alankar added.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ali Abbas, Chairperson of the Urdu department said that Lingua-Franca is the back bone of our literature where Sanskrit, Urdu, Hindi and other Indian languages have made colossal contribution in strengthening the concept of Indian literature as well as our national unity and emotional integration before and after that attainment of Independence.
