Screening Camp for Eyes on 24,05,2022

A free screening camp for eyes was organized by Boys’ Hostel no. 3, at Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health, Panjab University Chandigarh in collaboration with Department of Ophthalmology, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh. Dr. J.S. Sehrawat, Warden, Boys Hostel No. 3, and Dr. Rupinder Kaur, CMO, BGJ Institute, Panjab University Chandigarh coordinated the successful organization of eye screening camp on 24.05.2022.
Dr. Sudesh Arya and his team comprising of four doctors, junior residents, five optometrists and eye-donation counselors started the screening camp from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. More than 250 students, faculty members, staff and their family members were examined for their vision, any pathology/problem and few were also referred for checking their spectacle numbers etc. Individuals with serious eye defects were refereed to GMCH-32, Chandigarh for their comprehensive check-up and screening. Guidance was also given to the patients regarding eye related diseases for those patients diagnosed for having such problem. The organizers also distributed free eye drops and medicines to the needy patients in the camp. “Such initiatives are helpful for the people who cannot afford expensive procedures and medicines, said Dr. Sudesh Arya, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh. Eye donation pledge were also submitted by some participants in the camp. Dr. Sehrawat, Warden, BH-3 thanked the GMCH-32 team and CMO, BGJ institute for coordination in this humanitarian effort towards the service of humanity.
