“Literary Resonances in the Corridors of Law” released

PU VC Releases Faculty Colleague’s Book

            Prof Raj Kumar Vice Chancellor Panjab University released the book titled “Literary Resonances in the Corridors of Law” authored by Dr Chanchal Narang, Associate Professor,  University Institute of legal Studies, PU Chandigarh in the presence of Prof. R.K. Singla, Dean Research, Prof Rajinder Kaur and Dr Sasha.

            Dr Narang’s book is based on the Action Research Project that she had undertaken based on the topic, “The Impact of Teaching literature in an interactive manner on law Students’ ability to interpret literary texts.” Dr Narang had taken up this project to train the students of Law in the micro-skills of reading, which are very crucial in the legal profession. She had taken up this project in accordance with the mandate of Bar Council of India which states that “The best way to learn English is to read more and more English literature.” She had taught the students Indian literature in English so as to enable them to do the close reading of texts which would further enhance their faculties of sympathy and empathy which are essential in the legal profession.

            Prof. Kumar appreciated the efforts of Dr Narang for her efforts and encouraged her to continue her academic work in the field of Language pedagogy. It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Narang is the founder teacher of UILS and has contributed two books and around 20 research papers in the field of English language Teaching in the Journals of national and International repute.
