Parminder Kaur awarded with OSPP Award

Purnoor, Chandigarh May 3, 2019

            Dr Gurmeet Kaur, Department of Geology, Panjab University and her students in collaboration with other geoscientists from India and abroad are carrying out work to promote significant stones of India which were used in the architectonic heritage in the past. Under prestigious Roland Schlich travel support and IGCP project 637 two students from Dr Kaur’s lab, Mr Amritpaul Singh and Ms Parminder Kaur received funding to attend EGU general assembly 2019 which had more than 16000 geoscientists from 113 countries in attendance. Both the students presented their posters and participated for the Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) award. Parminder Kaur (CSIR fellow) received the prestigious OSPP award for her poster presentation. Her award includes full registration fee waiver for the next EGU assembly and an award certificate. She will attend the next EGU assembly at Vienna, Austria in 2020 to receive her award.

“Ill Effects of Over Population in India”

            A special lecture was organised on “Ill Effects of Over Population in India”  by Population Research Centre(PRC), Panjab University, Chandigarh sponsored by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India at ICSSR (NW), Chandigarh.

            The key speaker was Sh. Manu Gaur, National President, Taxpayers Association of Bharat (TAXAB). He highlighted the problems associated with over population with facts and figures. He also touched on different aspect relating to over population. The main focus of the discussion was on uneven population growth and its relationship with natural resources. He concluded that uneven population growth is a major challenge for sustainable development.

            Prof. Kiranpreet Kaur, Director PRC highlighted activities and various research projects such as Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), Maternal health, Monitoring and evaluation programmes undertaken by PRC, PU, Chandigarh. Recently Centre has initiated research studies on Swatch Bharat and Health monitoring information system (HMIS). Prof. Devinder Singh addressed and discussed various  implication of right to birth and population law. The concluding remarks were given by Prof. Raghu Ram Rao, Director NIPER, who was Chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Manmohan Singh proposed vote of thanks. The lecture was attended by Chairpersons, Faculty members and research scholars from different departments.

          Chandigarh Police arrested Ram Kumar R/o # 6528, Sector- 56, Chandigarh while he was gambling near Badheri Chowk, Chandigarh on 02.05.2019. Total cash Rs. 2,140/- was recovered from his possession. In this regard, a case FIR No. 119, U/S 13A-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

MV Theft

          Naushad Ahmad R/o # 3851, Sector- 25, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s Discover motor cycle No. CH-01BD-5171 from mandi EWS Colony, Village- Dhanas, Chandigarh on 29.04.2019. A case FIR No. 60, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-Sarangpur, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Sudhir Chauhan R/o # 912/10, Gharaunda, Bhisham Marg, Distt.- Karnal, Haryana reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s splendor Motor Cycle No. HR-05AF-2658 while parked near while parked near DLF Building, IT Park, Chandigarh on 30.04.2019. A case FIR No. 93, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-IT Park, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Sushil Sharma R/o # 2855/2, Sector- 47, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s splendor Motor Cycle No. CH-01BA-5793 while parked near his residence on 30.04.2019. A case FIR No. 138, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-31, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Mandeep Chahal R/o # 114, Sector- 38/A, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s Honda Twister motor cycle No. CH-01BB-5095 while parked near his residence on 09.04.2019. A case FIR No. 120, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress. 

Accident

A case FIR No. 57, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh on the complaint of a lady resident of Daddu Majra Colony, Chandigarh who alleged that driver of Truck No. PB-65AF-7720 namely Pardeep Sharma R/o village- Bahlolpur, Distt.- Mohali, Punjab who hit to three wheeler No. PB-65AF-7720 at Shahpur Light Point on 02.05.2019. 02 children’s of complainant in three wheeler namely Sonia @ Gunni and son Avi got injured got injured and admitted in GMSH-16, Chandigarh. Later Sonia @ Gunni refer to PGI, Chandigarh. Accused arrested and bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Fetus found

A case FIR No. 121 U/S 318 IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh against unknown person who left 6 months fetus in dustbin near petrol pump, Sector-41, Chandigarh on 02.05.2019. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Missing/Abduction

A person resident of colony No.4, Chandigarh reported that his daughter age about 14 years has been missing from his residence on 02.05.2019. A case FIR No. 112, U/S 363, 366 IPC has been registered in PS- Indst. Area, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Outraged modesty of Women

A lady resident of Distt.- Hisar, Haryana alleged that Shyam Lal Goyal (President) Radha Krishan Mandir, Sector- 18, Chandigarh misbehave, used offensive language on 08.02.2019. A case FIR No. 61, U/S 506, 509 IPC has been registered in PS-19, Chandigarh after taking legal opinion. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Rash Driving

A case FIR No. 62, U/S 279 IPC & 184 MV Act has been registered in PS-19, Chandigarh on the complaint of C. Anil Kumar 3990/CP, Traffic staff who alleged that driver of car No. PB-65A-8154 negligently driving the vehicle and try to hit the on duty complainant near Shani Mandir, Sector- 19, Chandigarh on 02.05.2019. Investigation of the case is in progress. 

Breach of Contract

A Case FIR No. 103 dt. 02.05.2019 U/s 3, 66 & 72 A IT Act, PS-34 has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh on the complaint of Mr. Rahul Kamboj, office of Frankfin Institute of Air Hostess Training, SCO 118-120, Sector- 34 Chandigarh. He reported that their employees violated the terms and conditions of agreement and  Gladwin Rawat R/o Derabassi, Punjab has committed offence of cheating and fraud with company by  using company’s official email and iD without their permission. Investigation of the case is in Progress.
