Annual Day of Neerja Bhanot Hall celebrted

Purnoor, Chandigarh April 23, 2019

Neerja Bhanot Hall, Girls Hostel Number 10, Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated its FIRST ANNUAL DAY. The Chief guests were Mr. Anish Bhanot, Brother of Late Ms. Neerja Bhanot and sister-in-law Ms. Shanti Bhanot who gave away the prizes to the winners of various competitions organized by the hostel throughout the year. Awards of appreciation were also presented to the residents and staff of the hostel.

Mr. Anish Bhanot gifted a Book on Ms. Neerja to the hostel. Dr. Archana Chauhan, Warden of the hostel said that this book has inspired her to open a small recreational library in the hostel and this will be one of her focus for future.  Dr. Chauhan took everyone down the memory lane by presenting the annual report of the hostel and showing the evolution of the hostel. Prof. Neena Capalash, Dean Student Welfare-Women and Prof. Emanual Nahar, Dean Student Welfare, Wardens and several eminent guests also graced the occasion.

A diligently organized cultural programme commenced   with saraswati vandana. Various   events in   the field of   modeling, dance and singing were performed by students. A skit based on the memory of Neerja Bhanot was beautifully presented by the students of the hostel wherein they recreated the event that immortalized Neerja Bhanot and presented the tale of her bravery. The Bhanot family members and audience got very emotional on this occasion and a standing ovation was given to the actors by the audience.

The tag of Ms. Farewell was scored by Ms. Upasna, Ms. Harsimran Kaur became Ms. Personality and Ms. Jyotsna was awarded with the tag of Ms. Popular.
