“Senior Citizen’s Walk for Fun”

          Today 16.03.2019, a “Walk for Fun” was organized jointly by Chandigarh Senior Citizens’ Association (CSCA) and Chandigarh Police at 6.30am at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. Shri Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh flagged off the walk at 7 AM. Senior Citizens and Officers of Police Department Sh. O.P. Mishra, DIG/UT, Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Sec., Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT, along with other senior officers of police department were present at the event.  Shri I.P. Puri, President of the Association briefed the participants about the rules, distance to be covered and the various facilities provided by the police department. The registration process was held between 6:00 AM to 6:40 AM. The distance of the walk was 1.5 Km for age group between 60 to 70 years and 1 KM for age group of 70 years & above. The walkers were separated on the basis of age of the members with Red and Green stickers. Chandigarh Police had provided ambulance facility for emergency purposes, drinking water, tea and refreshment.

          The Walk was followed by Interaction with DGP UT Chandigarh. Members of Senior Citizen’s Association spoke in glowing terms about the friendly attitude of Chandigarh Police and the many innovations it had brought in to protect the Senior Citizens. The members also raised many points about traffic lights, ruthless driving by younger generation, conditions of roads, parking facilities and many more. The DGP gave the suitable replies and also assured that he would issue the necessary directions for these issues to concerned unit. Shri I.P. Puri thanked the Police Department for facilitating the whole programme.
