            Saraswati Pooja and Basanth Panchmi was celebrated at the
Neerja Bhanot Hall, Girls Hostel No. 10 Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Idol of Goddess Saraswati was unveiled and Sarasvati Vandana was
recited. Wardens from other girl’s hostels, guests and residents
participated in this religious ceremony and took the blessings of the
deity.  Pooja was followed by Basanth Panchmi celebrations which
involved taking swing and kite flying.

Prof. A.K. Bhandari passes away

            Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University,
Chandigarh expressed  his deep condolences on the demise of Prof. A.K.
Bhandari, Department of  Mathematics, PU. He said that Prof. Bhandari
served the University in various capacities like Dean of University
Instructions, Registrar and Controller of Examination. His
contribution has been immense and his passing away has left a great
void for PU fraternity.

            Condolence meeting was organized by the University to pay
homage to the departed soul.

Special drive against consuming liquor at public place was carried out at different parts of the city in which total 09 cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered.

 In continuation of a special drive against consuming liquor at public place, yesterday, the drive was carried out at different parts of the city. Under this drive total 09 different cases U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered in different police stations of Chandigarh in which total 10 persons were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. All later on bailed out. The detail of police Stations in which cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 got registered:-  PS-3 = 3 cases, PS-17= 1 case, PS-I.T Park= 3 cases, PS-MM= 2 cases.

This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law.

Damage to property

A case FIR No. 21, U/S 435 IPC has been registered in PS-Sarangpur, Chandigarh on the complaint of Danish R/o # 2010/B, EWS Colony, Village-Dhanas, Chandigarh who alleged that unknown person put fire to complainant’s motor cycle No. CH-01BR-8368 while parked near his residence on 10.02.2019. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 44, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-3, Chandigarh on the statement of Mridu Chatiya R/o SDG, BSF Headquarter Lakhnaur, Distt.-Mohali, Punjab against driver of car No. CH-01BS-1539 who hit and run to complainant’s bus No. PB-08BC-9522 near Press light point, Chandigarh on 10.02.2019. 13 persons got injured and admitted in GH-16, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 22, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-11, Chandigarh on the statement of C. Satwinder Singh (Traffic staff) R/o # 30, Phase-1, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh against driver of pulsar motor cycle No. CH-04K-2465 who hit complainant’s near Sector- 14/25 turn, Chandigarh on 10.02.2019. Complainant’s got injured and admitted in GH-16, Chandigarh. Accused person arrested and bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 40, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh on the statement of Samwartak Singh R/o # 125, Sector-23, Chandigarh against driver of unknown car who hit to pedestrian complainant’s near SCF No.35, Sector-23, Chandigarh on 10.02.2019. Complainant’s got injured and admitted in GH-16, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Deterred public servant while discharging govt. duty

A case FIR No. 47, U/S 332, 353 IPC has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh on the complaint of HC. Shashi Bhushan (Traffic Staff) who alleged that driver of car No. PB-10GW-0546 hit to complainant and deterred him while discharging Govt. duty at Sector 44/45/50/51 light point on 10.02.2019. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Abducted/missing

A person resident of Village-Daria, Chandigarh reported that complainant’s daughter aged about 15 years has been abducted/ missing from her residence since 10.02.2019. A case FIR No. 21, U/S 363, 366 IPC has been registered in PS-Ind. Area, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Attempt to murder/Arms Act

Gurdeep Singh R/o # 115/2, Village-Daddu Majra, Chandigarh alleged that 6/7 unknown person occupant of Red Bolero No. PB-30K-8034 beaten complainant and also threatened him by firing near wine shop, Village-Daddu Majra, Chandigarh on 10.02.2019. A case FIR No. 21, U/S 147, 148, 149, 323, 336, 341, 506, 307 IPC & 25-54-59 Arms Act has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh. Complainant got injured and admitted in GH-16, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Burglary

Akash Chander R/o # 3778, Maloya colony, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away 20 gram gold ornaments, 500 gram silver ornaments, 1 laptop, keyboard, hard disk, Samsung LCD and cash Rs. 45,000/- from complainant’s resident after breaking locks on night intervening 07/08.02.2019. A case FIR No. 20, U/S 380, 457 IPC has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

मुख्यमंत्री हरियाणा के दिशा निर्देशों पर हरियाणा में नवंबर 2017 से सक्षम घोषणा योजना लागू की गई । जिसके तहत तीसरी, पाँचवी व सातवीं के विद्यार्थियों को पढ़ने व लिखने में सक्षम बनाने के लिये यह योजना आरम्भ की गई है। हरियाणा घोषणा के राउंड 7 को लेकर सभी जिलों में फील्ड अधिकारियों को प्रशिक्षण दिया गया ।
हरियाणा में तीसरी व पांचवी के 1लाख 22 हज़ार 958 छात्र-छात्राएं एवं सातवीं के 65 हज़ार 929 छात्र – छात्रयों का मूल्यांकन किया जाएगा।
हरियाणा का झज्जर ज़िला पूर्ण रूप से सक्षम हो चुका है।
इसी संदर्भ में पंचकूला के जिला शिक्षा एवं प्रशिक्षण संस्थान, सेक्टर -2 में ज़िले के फील्ड इंवेस्टिंगटर्स को प्रशिक्षण दिया गया। इस अवसर पर राज्य परियोजना विभाग के समग्र शिक्षा अभियान की कंसलटेंट श्रीमती कल्पना शर्मा, सीएमजीए सरोज, पंचकूला के ज़िला शिक्षा अधिकारी श्री एच0एस0सैनी , ज़िला परियोजना संयोजक श्रीमती उर्मिला देवी , ज़िला मौलिक शिक्षा अधिकारी श्रीमती उर्मिल बांगड, डाइट प्रिंसिपल श्रीमती सुजाता राणा व खण्ड शिक्षा अधिकारी , सी0एंड वी टीचर्स, वोकेशनल टीचर्स व डाइट के विद्यार्थी उपस्थित थे।
इस बारे में अधिक जानकारी देते हुए कल्पना शर्मा , कंसल्टेंट , समग्र शिक्षा अभियान,राज्य परियोजना विभाग ने बताया कि गुणवत्ता पूर्ण शिक्षा प्राप्त करके विद्यार्थी सभी प्रकार की प्रतियोगिताओं के लिये सक्षम हो सके , यही हरियाणा सक्षम का उद्देश्य व लक्ष्य है।उन्होंने बताया कि सक्षम हरियाणा के तहत 14 से 18 प्रोजेक्ट चलाये जा रहे हैं। सक्षम घोषणा के तहत प्रत्येक जिले के उपायुक्त, अतिरिक्त उपायुक्त, ज़िला शिक्षा अधिकारी व ज़िले के शिक्षा विभाग के सभी अधिकारी खण्ड स्तर पर सभी विद्यालयों के तीसरी, पांचवी व सातवीं के बच्चों को पढ़ने व लिखने में सक्षम करवाना है। राज्य के 119 ब्लॉकों में से 26 ब्लॉक सक्षम हो चुके हैं। झज्जर ज़िले के सभी ब्लॉक सक्षम हो चुके हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि अगले वर्ष से सक्षम प्लस योजना शुरू की जाएगी जिसमें गणित व हिंदी के अतिरिक्त अन्य विषयों में सक्षम किया जाएगा।
डाइट की प्रिंसिपल श्रीमती सुजाता राणा ने बताया कि ज़िले में दो स्थानों पर फील्ड इंवेस्टिंगटर्स को ट्रेनिंग दी गई हौ।मोरनी ब्लॉक की मोरनी स्थित गैटी में व अन्य ब्लॉक के सभी अध्यापकों की डाइट सेक्टर -2 में ट्रैनिंग दी गयी । ज़िले के 281 फील्ड इंवेस्टिंगटर्स इस मूल्यांकन प्रकिर्या को सुचारू व नकल रहित करने में सहयोग देंगे।

मनसा देवी काॅम्पलैक्स में प्रधानमंत्री के कार्यक्रम का सीधा प्रसारण

प्ंाचकूला 11 फरवरी-

     पंचकूला के विधायक एवं मुख्य सचेतक ज्ञानचंद गुप्ता व उपायुक्त मुकुल कुमार एवं जिला पुलिस उपायुक्त कमलदीप गोयल सहित कई प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों ने माता मनसा देवी काॅम्पलेैस का दौरा कर तैयारियांे का जायजा लिया। काम्पलेक्स में बनने वाले आयुर्वेद संस्थान की भारत के प्रधान मंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी के 12 फरवरी को प्रातः 11 बजे कुरूक्षेत्र में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में डिजिटल लिंक से शिलान्यास करेगें।

       विधायक एवं उपायुक्त ने बताया कि इस श्री माता मनसा देवी कॉम्प्लेक्स पंचकुला में बनने वाले प्रदेश के एकमात्र नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ आयुर्वेद की डिजिटल लिंक के माध्यम से प्रधानमंत्री नीवं रखेंगे। उन्होंने बताया कि मनसा देवी में प्रधानमंत्री के इस कार्यक्रम को लाईव दिखाया जाएगा। इस अवसर पर मनसा देवी काम्पलेक्स में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में केन्द्रीय आयुष राज्य मंत्री श्रीपेड येसो नाईक, अम्बाला के सांसद रतन लाल कटारिया, आयुष मंत्रालय के सचिव राजेश कोटेचा तथा एनआईए निदेशक संजीव शर्मा तथा हरियाणा के कई मंत्री एवं विधायक भी शिरकत करेंगें।उन्होंने बताया कि इस परियोजना की अनुमानित लागत 270.50 करोड़ है। यह संस्थान 250 बेड के आईपीडी अस्पताल के साथ आयुर्वेद उपचार, शिक्षा और अनुसंधान के लिए एक राष्ट्रीय स्तर का संस्थान होगा। संस्थान हर साल 500 से अधिक छात्रों को यूजी, पीजी और पीएच की पेशकश करेगा। सभागार के लिए सुविधाओं के साथ डी डिग्री। छात्रावास, स्टाफ क्वार्टर और गेस्ट हाउस आदि का निर्माण किया जाएगा। लगभग 19.87 एकड़ जमीन पर विकसित किया जाएगा।

इस अवसर पर अतिरिक्त उपायुक्त जगदीप ढांडा, एसडीएम पंकज सेतिया, जिला सूचना एवं विज्ञान अधिकारी सतपाल शर्मा, जिला आयुर्वेद अधिकारी डा. दलीप कुमार मिश्रा, श्रीमाता मनसा देवी बोर्ड के मुख्य कार्यकारी, भाजपा की  प्रदेश कार्यकारिणी सदस्य बंतो कटारिया सहित कई अधिकारी मौजूद रहे।  

सिब्बल ने कर्तव्यनिष्ठ अधिकारियों को धमकाया

कांग्रेस नेता कपिल सिब्बल ने आने वाले चुनावों को लेकर अधिकारियों पर निशाना साधा है. सिब्बल ने कहा, ‘अधिकारियों को ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि चुनाव आते जाते हैं, कभी हम विपक्ष में होते हैं और कभी सत्ता में होते हैं. हम ऐसे अधिकारियों पर नजर रखेंगे जो ज्यादा उत्साही हैं और पीएम मोदी के प्रति अपनी वफादारी साबित करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं.’

वहीं प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता रहे अमोल पालेकर की स्पीच बीच में रोक दिए जाने के मुद्दे पर सिब्बल ने कहा, ‘किसी के खिलाफ देशद्रोह हो जाता है, किसी को बोलने नहीं दिया जाता है. ये तो नया भारत है न. देश बदल रहा है. पीएम मोदी तो यही अच्छे दिन के बारे में बात करते थे.

राफेल डील के मामले पर सिब्बल ने कहा कि राफेल डील वर्तमान सीएजी राजीव महर्षि के वित्त सचिव रहते हुआ. चूंकि यह एक भ्रष्ट सौदा है तो जांच होनी चाहिए. लेकिन, कैग खुद के खिलाफ जांच कैसे करेगा? पहले वह खुद को बचाएंगे, फिर सरकार को. यह हितों का टकराव है.View image on Twitter

पंचकूला,10 फरवरी।  आम आदमी पार्टी का कहना है कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी आप कन्वीनर एवं दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरङ्क्षवद केजरीवाल की बढ़ती लोकप्रियता से इतनी परेशान है कि वह अपने लोगों से उन पर जानबूझकर हमले करवाती है। पार्टी का कहना है कि यह एक मुख्यमंत्री की सुरक्षा को लेकर किये जाने वाले प्रबंधों पर भी प्रश्र चिन्ह लगाता है  कि एक मुख्यमंत्री के   कार्यक्रम में भाजपा के लोग डंडे लेकर पहुंच जाते हैं। ऐसा पहली बार नहीं बल्कि पांचवी बार हुआ है कि मुख्यमंत्री की सुरक्षा में सेंधमारी कर किसी ने उन पर हमला किया हो। पार्टी का कहना है कि दिल्ली पुलिस जानबूझकर केंद्र सरकार के इशारे पर केजरीवाल पर हमले होने दे रही है,क्योंकि भाजपा को अब सिर्फ और सिर्फ अरविंद केजरीवाल से ही डर लगता है और शायद इसी लिए वह केजरीवाल को जानबूझकर मरवाने का षडयंत्र कर रही है। मगर आप इसके कतई बर्दाश्त नहीं करेगी और गृहमंत्रालय से इसका जबाब मांगेगी।

 आज यहां जारी एक ब्यान में आप के लोकसभा अंबाला एवं जिला पंचकूला के प्रधान योगेश्वर शर्मा ने कहा कि शुक्रवार को दिल्ली के नरेला में भाजपा के लोगों ने भीड़ की शक्ल में हमला करने का प्रयास किया, यह एक सोची समझी साजिश के तहत हुआ है। क्योंकि मुख्यमंत्री के काफिले के रुट की क्लीयरेंस होने के बावजूद अगर भीड़ उन पर हमला करने पहुंच गई तो यह बात साफ है कि उन्हें जानबूझकर जाने दिया गया। उन्होंने कहा कि वह अपनी पार्टी आलाकमान से बात कर इस बारे में गृहमंत्रालय को पत्र लिखकर इसका जबाब मंगवायेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि पहले भी भाजपा के एक कार्याकर्ता द्वारा केजरीवाल पर मिर्ची पाउडर से सचिववालय में हमला करवाया गया था। उन्होंने कहा कि अब तक तो भाजपा अरविंद केजरीवाल को सिर्फ काम करने से ही रोकती आई है, मगर जब उसे इसमें भी सफलता नहीं मिली और लोगों के बीच उनकी लोकप्रियता बढऩे लगी तो भाजपा इस तरह के ओछे हथकं डे अपनाने पर उतर गई है। उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा को इसका परिणाम आने वाले चुनावों में भुगतना ही पड़ेगा, दिल्ली की जनता उन्हें वोट की चोट से जबाब देगी।

Alumni Meet of Zoology Department, PU

          Demokraticfront News : A 95 years old alumna, student of the first batch of Department, Mrs.Satija was the charm of the alumni meet of the Zoology Department Alumni Association, Department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, here today.

          About 90 alumni attended the programme. The Alumni members were received by the registration team and welcomed with a Tilak.

          Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, PU was the chief guest of the Programme. He highlighted the importance of such events to reconnect with the alma mater and to share their achievements with each other.

          The event was inaugurated by the distinguished guests by lamp lighting ceremony. Chairperson of the department, Dr.HarpreetKaur welcomed the gathering. She gave insights on the emotional bonding, alumni have with their alma mater.

          Dean Alumni of Panjab University Prof. Deepti Gupta was also present on this occasion and addressed the alumni. She quoted “Panjab University is like a garland having its alumni members as colorful flowers and all departments are chapters of Panjab University Alumni Association”.

          She honoured the coordinator of the Amritsar Chapter,DrJasmeetNayyar and appreciated the efforts of bringing together Alumini of the State of Punjab on one page and will be soon organising a Gala Alumni meet at Amritsar in near future.

          The inauguration was followed by a lively cultural program which started with a very devotional shabad seeking the blessings of almighty followed by a graceful classical dance, traditional himachalinaati, and a very energetic GiddhaandBhangra performance by the students. Prof. Neelima, Faculty in the Zoology Department, briefed the audience about the history, development, achievements and various projects ongoing in the department recently.

          The eminent alumni members of the Department Prof. G. Satija, Prof. O.P.Mittal, Prof. H.R. Pajni, Prof. A.K. Chawla and Prof. R.C. Sobti were felicitated for their notable contributions to the research and University. A thought provoking quiz about the University was also held. Lastly, to end things on a lighter note, the function was concluded with a stunning and emotive video of old days of department.

          The function was concluded by the Coordinator, Dr.Ravneet Kaur. The alumni members were taken to the University tour to rejuvenate their old memories and to see various Departments, Hostels and South Campus of the University.

Film Appreciation course concludes at PU

          Demokraticfront News: The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, collaboration for a film appreciation course hosted by the Department of English and Cultural Studies, PU concluded, here today with a Valedictory function in which certificate of participation were distributed to over 75 participants from eight states of the country.

        Prof Deepti Gupta, Chairperson of the department, who had initiated this collaboration declared it a successful attempt on part of the department to engage with other institutions for teaching and learning.

        Dr SurbhiGoel shared her views as to how education and instruction of subjects like Cinema and Audio-visual were more about curating the optimal content and creating insightful conversation and discussion rather than an informational flow alone. The participants were exposed to cinematic history, cinematic elements of appreciation and important films drawn from world Cinema.

        Instructors of the course, ShriPankajSaxena and ShriMunishBhardwaj also screened films which they have participated in the making of to elicit discussions and responses. Ms.Vijaya Singh’s films UNSCHEDULED ARRIVALS was also screened followed by  a Q and A session with her. The course drew enthusiasm from the participants and it was an attempt to turn them from being a mere spectator to rasik of cinema.

Technical session on the fifth and the final day of the course began with a discussion of the film Pyaasa which had been screened the previous day. The discussion was presided over by Mr.MunishBharadwaj and included observations on the form of the film, the music and lyrics of songs.

        This was followed by a script writing session conducted by Mr.Bharadwaj. The session gave participants an insight into what goes into writing a script for a film. Different scripts required for various films were discussed. Additionally, the structure of the conventional script and the job of a script writer were debated. The session also included stages of script writing and character development.

        Issues discussed in the script writing session were further elucidated through the screening of Moh Maya Money (2016), a film directed by Mr.Bhardwaj. The screening was followed by a question-answer session wherein Mr.Bhardwaj answered queries of participants pertaining to their observations of the film.

        Thus, the course came to an end. The valedictory session began with an introduction by Junior Research Fellow, Shubham. Mr.Saxena and Mr.Bhardwaj were invited on the stage to share their experiences and observations about this course. This was followed by Dr.SurbhiGoel outlining the benefits of the coming together of art practitioners and critics in her speech.

        Participation certificates were distributed by Prof. Deepti Gupta, Prof. Akshaya Kumar, Mr.Bharadwaj, and Mr.Saxena. Then, two documentaries made by participants of the course were screened. The first was shot by GaganpreetWalia and her team of two and lasted for seven minutes. The second one titled University Appreciation Course lasted two minutes and was made by Puneet Raj Singh. After this, another documentary by the department of Communication Studies depicting Panjab University was shown. The facilitators were then presented with a token of appreciation. The participants and dignitaries then broke for a delicious lunch.
