VC discuss the academic development and the research ecosystem in the Economics Departmen

  In an endeavour to understand the thrust areas of various departments of the University, Prof. Raj Kumar, ViceChancellor(VC), Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh, met the faculty of the Department of Economics to discuss the academic development and the research ecosystem in the Department.

                        Prof. Upinder Sawhney, Chairperson, made a presentation about the department focussing on the Thrust areas ofResearch which are Economic Development And Structural Change, Public Policy And Governance Issues and Money, Banking and International Trade. She also apprised the Vice Chancellor about the courses being run by the department and the future plans. The Dept. of Economics is the only department amongst the social sciences running the B.A./M.A. Hons. in Economics for the last many decades. The Hons. Programme under the CBCS has also been introduced only in this Dept.

                        The VC was appreciative of the faculty achievements and  motivated the faculty to carry out more research as Economics is one of the leading departments of Panjab University. He further suggested that the faculty should focus on collaborative research and funding from national and international organisations like Niti Aayog, Ministry of Finance, World Bank, IMF, etc. He promised that he will look into the infrastructure and manpower needs of the department in order to strengthen it further.

प्ंाचकूला 28 जनवरी।  नेहरू युवा केन्द्र व जिला प्रशासन के सहयेाग से माता मनसा देवी में 11वां जनजातिया युवा आदान प्रदान कार्यक्रम के छठे दिन विभिन्न राज्यों से आए युवाओं ने योगाभ्यास कर शुरूआत की। युवाओं ने महात्मा गांधी के 150वीं जयंती पर आयोजित कार्यक्रमों में आगे भी बढचढ कर भाग लेने का संकल्प लिया। 

विभिन्न राज्यों से आए युवाओं ने सीआरपीएफ कैम्प पिंजौर का भ्रमण किया और अधिकारियों से पूर्ण तालमेल के करते हुए बातचीत की तथा विस्तार से जानकारी ली।  युवाओं को बैंड के माध्यम से देशभक्ति गीत के साथ परेड व अन्य सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों में भाग लिया तथा अपने अनुभव सांझा किए। 

नेहरू युवा केन्द्र के जिला समन्वयक जी एस बाजवा ने कैम्प में सीआरपीएफ अधिकारियों के साथ सभी का अभिवादन किया और आंतकवाद को जड से उखाड फेकनें का संकल्प करवाया। उन्होंने कई गम्भीर विषयों पर भी युवाओं के साथ अपने अनुभव सांझा किए।

प्ंाचकूला 28 जनवरी।

   जिला परियोजना संयोजक, समग्र शिक्षा अभियान, सैक्टर-7 पंचकूला के कार्यालय में दिव्यांग छात्रों हेतु सहायक उपकरण वितरण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया। इस कार्यक्रम में चिकित्सा जाँच शिविर में जिन 21 बच्चों को सहायक उपकरण हेतु चिन्हित किया गया था उन्हें  अतिरिक्त उपायुक्त   पंचकूला   जगदीप ढांडा, जिला शिक्षा अधिकारी एच एस सैनी,, जिला मौलिक शिक्षा अधिकारी उर्मिल बांगड व जिला परियोजना संयोजक पंचकूला के द्वारा उपकरण प्रदान किये गए। इस दौरान 6 सी.पी चेयर, 5 व्हील चेयर, 3 ट्राई साईकिल, 4 रोलेटर, 2 श्रवण उपकरण, एक जोडी क्रच व एक एम.आर किट उपलब्ध करवाई गई। 

इस शिविर में बच्चों के अभिभावकों को ।स्प्डब्व् के प्रतिनिधि व विशेष अध्यापकों के द्वारा उपकरणों के इस्तेमाल सम्बंधी प्रशिक्षण दिया गया। इस दौरान अतिरिक्त उपायुक्त ने सभी उपकरणों के इस्तेमाल की विधि को बच्चों व अभिभावको से ट्रायल करवाया व सभी विशेष अध्यापकों को इन उपकरणें के रख-रखाव व जिन बच्चों को च्ीलेपवजीमतंचल की आवश्यक्ता है उसका प्रबंध करने बारे निर्देशित किया। शिविर में उपस्थित सभी प्रतिभागियों हेतु जल-पान की व्यवस्था भी करवाई गई थी।

Swachhta Drive at Department of Geology

Chandigarh January 28, 2019
A SWACHHTA DRIVE was organised by Department of Geology and Geography in collaboration  with NSS & Horticulture Department of Panjab University Chandigarh.  Dr Gurmeet Kaur, 
NSS Programme officer with chairpersons of both departments coordinated the drive.  
Around 200 volunteers & non volunteers, teaching and non teaching staff & 10 gardeners  participated in drive. They cleaned their surroundings and created awareness campaign  for students to make their campus clean and green

IAS Centre hosts Inaugural Session

        The IAS Centre, Panjab University hosted the inaugural session for the new 
batch of students. Ms. Urvashi Gulati, former Chief Secretary, Haryana and State 
Information  Commissioner, Haryana was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof. Parmjit Kaur welcomed the students and the guests to the session. Ms. Gulati motivated the students and shared her experiences as an IAS officer with them. She gave them tips to prepare for the tough road ahead and said that perseverance will see you through.

        The IAS Centre also honoured the students from the Centre who had cleared the interview  for PCS (Judicial) in November 2018. Ms. Papneet the topper of the batch along with the others were happy to receive the token of appreciation. Dr. Shruti Bedi, Coordinator IAS Centre said that these students has taken the Centre to a higher 
level.

Two arrested for consuming liquor at public place

          Two different cases U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC have been registered in PS-03, Chandigarh against two persons who were arrested while consuming liquor at public place on 27.01.2019. This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law.

One arrested under NDPS Act

Chandigarh Police arrested a lady resident of Sector-38, Chandigarh from near HBC turn, main road, Village-Dhanas, Chandigarh and recovered 10 gram Heroin/Smack from his possession on 27.01.2019. A case FIR No. 18, U/S 21 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-Sarangpur, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

One arrested for possessing illegal liquor

Chandigarh Police arrested Ravi R/o # 3000, Daddu Majra Colony, Chandigarh from near Community Centre, Daddu Majra Colony, Chandigarh while illegally possessing 09 halves of country made liquor on 27.01.2019. A case FIR No. 12, U/S 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

MV Theft

Raj Kumar R/o # 2402, Village-Maulijagran, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s E-Rikshaw while parked near stairs No.6, Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh on 26.01.2019. A case FIR No. 26, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-03, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Atul Nagar R/o # 42, City Enclave, Zirakpur, Punjab reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s Honda City Car No. CH-03R-0777 from paid parking, Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh on 27.01.2019. A case FIR No. 27, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-03, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Accident

A case FIR No. 25, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-IT Park, Chandigarh on the complaint of Sunil Kumar R/o # 30/A, Colony No.4, Block-L, Phase-I, Industrial Area, Chandigarh against driver of truck who sped away after hitting to a auto No. PB-65AH-7045 which was hired by complainant near Railway Light Point, Chandigarh on 29.12.2018. Complainant’s got injured and admitted in GMSH-16, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 26, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh on the complaint of a lady resident of Sector-40/B, Chandigarh against a lady driver of Brezza Car No. CH-01BU-3007 which hit to complainant (pedestrian) near her residence on 19.01.2019. Complainant’s got injured and admitted in GMSH-16, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.   

PU organised Bhagyatara Award

        Department of Chemistry, Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh organized Bhagyatara Award Ceremony, here today. Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, PU presented the Bhagyatara Award to Dr. Akkattu T. Biju, Associate Professor, Department of Organic Chemistry, IISC, Bangalore. 
        PU VC congratulated Dr Biju, for winning a prestigious award. He also encouraged the faculty and young researchers about the importance of research for the welfare and betterment of society. He urged all for integrating and consolidating all knowledge domains for the growth of Industry, Society and Nation. 
        Prof. K.N. Singh, Chairman, in his welcome address, gave the background details about the award and informed that the award which started in 2002,  is given every year by PU for research in the area of Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Dairy Chemistry and the selected Awardee gets Rs. 50,000/- . 
The Awardee is selected on the basis of the merit of his/her research work evaluated by a panel of Experts from among the Nominations received from different Universities/Research Institutes form all over India.
        Dr. Akkattu T. Biju delivered the Bhagyatara Award Lecture on Organocatalysis Using N-Heterocyclic Carbenes(NHCs).    
        Dr. Shankarji Jha, the Dean of University Instructions, PU congratulated Dr. Biju and also encouraged the research activities at the Department.

जींद में सुबह 1 बजे तक 45% और रामगढ़ में 51 फीसदी वोट पड़े

जींद/अलवर. हरियाणा के जींद और राजस्थान के रामगढ़ में विधानसभा उपचुनाव के लिए मतदान जारी है। जींद में सुबह 1 बजे तक 45% और रामगढ़ में 51 फीसदी वोट पड़े। दोनों सीटों पर शाम 5 बजे तक वोट डाले जाएंगे। कांग्रेस ने जींद सीट पर राष्‍ट्रीय प्रवक्‍ता रणदीप सिंह सुरजेवाला को टिकट दिया है। सुरजेवाला कैथल से विधायक हैं। भाजपा ने दिवंगत विधायक डॉ. हरिचंद मिड्‌ढा के बेटे कृष्ण मिड्‌ढा और जननायक जनता पार्टी ने दिग्विजय चौटाला को उम्मीदवार बनाया है। दोनों सीटों के नतीजे 31 जनवरी को आएंगे।

26 जनवरी को यहां सेक्टर 5 में स्थित परेड ग्राउंड में हुए राज्य स्तरीय  70वें  गणतन्त्र दिवस के अवसर पर हरियाणा के राज्यपाल सत्यदेव नारायण आर्य द्वारा हरियाणा के अन्य कई कर्मचारियों के अतिरिक्त हिप्पा पंचकूला के अधिकारियों श्री राजपाल नासा कंसल्टेंट, को हरियाणा सिविल सर्विसेज रूल्स को बनाने और उन्हें अंतिम चरण तक पहुँचाने में दिए गए सराहनीय योगदान देने, *श्री सुनील बहल* प्रोग्रामर वित्त विभाग द्वारा गेस्ट फैकल्टी के रूप में ऑनलाइन बजट , ई  गवर्नेंस, ई ग्रास, ई स्टम्पिंग, तथा HRMS इत्यादि विषयों में प्रशिक्षण हेतु सराहनीय योगदान देने तथा श्रीमती अंजली तुली उपाधीक्षक द्वारा सभी प्रशिक्षण प्रोग्राम को सफल बनाने में दिए गए योगदान हेतु उन्हें प्रशंसा पत्र दे कर सम्मानित किया गया । इस अवसर पर  सांसद रतन लाल कटारिया, हरियाणा के मुख्य सचिव श्री डी एस ढेसी व पुलिस महानिदेशक श्री बी एस संधू भी उपस्थित थे ।
