City marked its presence in COP 24 organised at Katowice city of Poland

 

 

Chandigarh, 7th December, 2018:

            COP-24 is the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It takes decision which are necessary to ensure the effective implementation of the provisions of the convention and regularly reviews the implementation of these provisions. During the current year COP 24 has been organised at Katowice city of Poland from 2nd  to 14th December 2018.

            Shri Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests and Director Science, Technology and Renewable Energy represented Chandigarh at the conference on 6th December, 2018 at India Pavilion in Katowice (Poland) and made an elaborate presentation at the international forum on various steps taken by Chandigarh Administration to fight the malice of climate change.  How a city in pursuit of development has not compromised on the greenery was highlighted before the August gathering from various countries.The aggressive steps taken by the Chandigarh Administration to make Chandigarh a model solar city was highly appreciated and applauded.

            A short video film was screened highlighting the steps taken to harness solar energy in Chandigarh. The conference was attended by representatives from various Ministries of Govt of India, other State Governments and international delegates from across the world.
