Annual Function for all the international Students at PU

        The Office of the Dean International Students, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised Annual Function for all the international Students studying in various Teaching Departments of Panjab University and its Local Affiliated Colleges, here today.

                        Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, PU in his address said that the international students are the ambassadors of PU while sharing that PU is the platform of knowledge sharing, urged the international students to grab the opportunity to explore and use the facilities available at the Campus. He urged the international students for joining in the higher education programmes stressing that PU has a strong research base and being part of the research and innovation will re-open the opportunities for them to expand the horizons of knowledge. He added that not only academics but these international students add colour, flavour and diversity to the Campus.

            Prof. Nandita Singh, Dean International Students, in her welcome address said that it is a day to celebrate the presence of International students and their achievements in the year gone by. She further informed that currently there are 161 international students studying in various departments of the PU Campus, out of which, 36 are pursuing Ph.D, 28 enrolled in various post graduate courses and 97 in the under graduate programmes. There are 226 international students studying in various colleges of Chandigarh. She further added that it is a great honour for PU to have students from as many as 17 countries who bring with them the richness and beauty of their cultural values. She also gave details about various programmes held during the year keeping in mind the need and interest of students.

            International Students from Afghanistan, Tibet, Nepal, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Thailand made presentations and performed dance on their cultural songs and music. The lively performances were interspersed by honouring and appreciating final year students for their contribution to the academic and cultural life in India. It was time for students to showcase their own culture and values to other students.

PU Professor nominated to the editorial board of a prestigious forensic journal

            Dr Kewal Krishan, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, has been nominated to the editorial board of Forensic Science International – one of the topmost and highly ranked journals in the field of Forensic Sciences. The journal is published from Netherlands by a world known and prominent publication house ‘Elsevier’. This is one of the oldest Speciality journals of the forensic sciences which was established in the year 1972. Forensic Science International is the flagship journal in the prestigious Forensic Science International family, publishing he most innovative, cutting-edge, and influential contributions across the forensic sciences.

            For the very first time, an Indian scientist has been nominated to the editorial board of this journal. Dr Krishan has got this opportunity because of his immense contributions to the development of forensic anthropology in India. He has been a regular reviewer/referee of this journal. Dr Krishan has to his credit more than 182 publications most of which are in international journals of repute. He has also contributed chapters to the most coveted and famous encyclopedias. Dr. Krishan’s articles have been cited by more than 3000 studies worldwide.

ताइवान ने चीन के लड़ाकू विमानों को दौड़ाया

चीन की उकसावे की हरकतें बढ़ती ही जा रही हैं। वह पाकिस्तान से मित्रता निभाते हुए भारत विरोधी गतिविधियों में संलिप्त है साथ ही साथ वह विश्व में खास कर एशिया में अपनी सीमा से सटे छोटे राष्ट्रों को भी यदा कडा सामरिक छेड़छाड़ से धमकाता रहता है। सभी राष्ट्र वह चाहे भारत हो या ताइवान कोई भी अपनी संप्रभुता के आड़े किसी को भी नहीं आने देना चाहता और फिर यह तो ताइवान है। सलाह तो यही है की चीन दु:साहस न दिखाये।

ताइपे: ताइवान ने सोमवार को कहा कि उसके विमानों ने ताइवान जलडमरूमध्य में मध्य रेखा को पार करने वाले चीनी सेना के विमानों को चेतावनी दी है साथ ही उसने चीन के इस कदम को उकसावे वाला करार दिया. ताइवान के रक्षा मंत्रालय ने बताया कि चीन के दो जे-11 लडाकू विमानों ने रविवार सुबह करीब 11 बजे रेखा को पार किया और द्वीप के दक्षिणपश्चिमी हवाई क्षेत्र में घुस गए. मंत्रालय ने बताया कि ताइवान ने चीन के विमानों को चेतावनी देने के लिए अपने विमान भेजे. चीन के दोनों विमान ताइवान में 185 किलोमीटर तक घुस आए थे.

ताइवान के राष्ट्रपति त्साई इंग-वेन ने सैन्य पुरस्कार समारोह में अपने बयान में कहा, ‘‘चीनी सेना के विमानों ने ताइवान जलडमरूम की मध्य रेखा को कल पार करके अलिखित समझौते का उल्लंघन करके हमें उकसाया.  हमारी वायु सेना की चेतावनी के बाद वे मध्य रेखा के पश्चिम की ओर चले गए.

विदेश मंत्री जोसेफ वू ने संवाददाताओं से कहा कि रेखा को पार करना अंतरराष्ट्रीय कार्य है. उन्होंने उसे उकसावे वाला और खतरनाक कदम बताया. उन्होंने बताया कि ताइवान ने घटना की जानकारी ‘‘क्षेत्रीय सहयोगियों’’ को दे दी है. 

Tanvi attended a conference on Dental Hygiene at Budapest

          Tanvi Samujh, an intern of Dr Harvans Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Panjab University, Chandigarh attended the 3rd Euroscicon Conference on Dental & Dental Hygiene at Budapest (Hungary) from March 25-26,2019.

         She was awarded the Best Paper Award in the meeting for her paper entitled ”Autotransplantation: An evolving treatment modality in modern dentistry patients.” Autotransplantation is a new technique which provide patients with all the benefits of a natural teeth. This technique involves the transfer of impacted, embedded, or, erupted teeth into extraction sites or into surgically prepared sockets. She has also moderated one full day scientific session on March 25,2019.

        Apart from her, 3 other interns namely- Ms Tanvi Thakur, Ms Arshdeep Kaur, Ms Anisha also attended the conference and presented papers. Earlier in October 2017, she received the Best Research Award in the 29th Annual World Congress of Dental Medicine and Dentistry held on October 16-18,2017 at New York (USA) on her paper entitled “A step ahead in Periodontal Regeneration on Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)- Second generation Platelet concentrate.”

        Tanvi gives the credit of this honour to her College Principal Dr. Jagat Bhushan  for his continuous encouragement and support, to her teachers who helped her to prepare the paper. Tanvi has all the praise for her parents who constantly motivated her to attend the international and national conferences. Her father Dr. Ram Samujh is working as Professor and Head, Department of Pediatric Surgery at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

भारत कि बढ़ती सामरिक शक्ति से परेशान पाकिस्तान

स्वयं परमाणु हथियारों कि दौड़ में अग्रणी रहने वाला और अपने क्षेत्रफल के अनुरूप परमाणु बमों के जखीरे पर बैठे पाकिस्तान को डर लग रहा है. भारत की बढती सामरिक शक्ति और उसकी वैश्विक स्वीकार्यता पाकिस्तान और उसके मित्र देश चीन को हज़म नहीं हो रही. तभी तो कल चीन के पश्चात् भयभीत पाकिस्तान ने न केवल भारत को नसीहत दी अपितु संयुक्त राष्ट्र का नाम न लेते हुए उन्हें भी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अन्तरिक्ष कानूनों में बदलाव कि मांग कर डाली.

भारत द्वारा उपग्रह भेदी मिसाइल ए-सैट के सफल परीक्षण पर पाकिस्तान ने बुधवार को कहा कि अंतरिक्ष के सैन्यीकरण से बचा जाना चाहिए था. पाकिस्तान के विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता मोहम्मद फैसल ने मीडिया से कहा, “पाकिस्तान बाह्य अंतरिक्ष में हथियारों की दौड़ रोकने का एक मजबूत समर्थक रहा है.” फैसल ने कहा, “अंतरिक्ष मानव की सामूहिक विरासत है और प्रत्येक राष्ट्र की जिम्मेदारी है कि इस क्षेत्र का सैन्यीकरण करने वाली गतिविधियों से बचा जाए. ” उन्होंने कहा कि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष कानूनों में कमियों को दूर करने की जरूरत है, ताकि कोई भी देश सामाजिक आर्थिक विकास की अंतरिक्ष प्रौद्योगिकियों के अनुप्रयोगों और शांतिपूर्ण गतिविधियों के समक्ष खतरा पैदा न कर सके.

भारत के ए-सैट के सफलतापूर्वक पृथ्वी की निचली कक्षा में एक जिंदा उपग्रह को निशाना बनाए जाने के बाद उन्होंने कहा, “हमे आशा है कि जिन देशों ने अतीत में अन्य देशों द्वारा प्रदर्शित की गई इसी तरह की क्षमता की निंदा की थी, वे बाह्य अंतरिक्ष से संबंधित सैन्य खतरों को रोकने के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय तंत्र विकसित करने की दिशा में काम करेंगे.”

Lack of political will, delayed our space program for a dacade: G Madhavan Nair

Hyderabad: Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman G Madhavan Nair said on Wednesday that India had the anti-satellite missile capability more than a decade ago but there was no political will at the time to demonstrate it.

He said when China shot down an ageing weather satellite by launching a missile in 2007, India had the technology to undertake a similar mission. “…now (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi has taken the initiative and he had the political will and courage to say that we will do this. We have now demonstrated this to whole world,” Nair said.

He had headed the ISRO space commission and was secretary in the department of space from 2003 to 2009. Nair joined the BJP in October 2018.

Asked if India could have demonstrated the anti-satellite missile capability in 2007 itself, Nair said “certainly”, but it could not be done due to absence of “political decision” to go ahead with it at that time.

“Now, Modiji has courageously taken the decision,” he said.

The prime minister on Wednesday announced India had demonstrated the capability by shooting down a live satellite, describing it as a rare achievement that puts the country in an exclusive club of space superpowers.

India is only the fourth country to have such a specialised capability after the US, Russia and China.

भारत के “मिशन शक्ति” ने अन्तरिक्ष किया सुरक्षित

  प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने बड़ा ऐलान करते हुए कहा कि कुछ समय पूर्व भारत ने अभूतपूर्व सिद्धि हासिल कर ली है. स्‍पेस पावर के रूप में भारत ने अपना नाम दर्ज करा लिया है. अब तक दुनिया के तीन देश अमेरिका, रूस और चीन को यह उपलब्धि हासिल थी अब भारत चौथा देश है, जिसने आज यह सिद्धि प्राप्‍त की है. यह हर भारतवासी के लिए गर्व का विषय है. हमारे वैज्ञानिकों ने स्‍पेस में 300 किमी दूर एलईओ ऑरबिट को मार गिराया है. यह एक पूर्व निर्धारित लक्ष्‍य था. इसे ए सेट मिसाइल द्वारा तीन मिनट में मार गिराया गया. मिशन शक्ति अत्‍यंत कठिन ऑपरेशन था. पीएम ने साफ किया कि भारत हमेशा अंतरिक्ष में हथियारों की होड़ के खिलाफ रहा है. 

उन्‍होंने कहा कि भारत ने मिशन शक्ति को तीन मिनट में पूरा किया. एंटी सैटेलाइट ए सेट मिसाइल भारत की विकास यात्रा की दृष्टि से देश को नई दिशा देगा. यह किसी देश के विरुद्ध नहीं था. यह किसी भी अंतरराष्‍ट्रीय कानून या संधि समझौतों का उल्‍लंघन नहीं करता है. हम आधुनिक तकनीक का उपयोग देश के 130 करोड़ नागरिकों की सुरक्षा के लिए किया है. एक मजबूत भारत का होना बेहद जरूरी है. हमारा मकसद युद्ध का माहौल बनाना नहीं है. 

उन्‍होंने कहा कि हमारा उद्देश्‍य शांति बनाए रखना है. हम निसंदेह एकजुट होकर एक शक्तिशाली और सुरक्षित भारत का निर्माण करेंगे. मैं ऐसे भारत की परिकल्‍पना करता हूं जो अपने समय से दो कदम आगे की सोच सके और चलने की हिम्‍मत भी जुटा सके. सभी देशवासियों को आज की इस महान उपलब्धि के बहुत बधाई. इस पराक्रम को करने वाले मेरे साथियों को बहुत धन्‍यवाद.

हालांकि तय समय में पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी का संबोधन सामने न आने के बाद न्‍यूज एजेंसी एएनआई ने दोपहर 12.16 बजे ट्वीट कर कहा कि पीएम मोदी अगले 8 मिनट के भीतर राष्‍ट्र को संबोधित करेंगे.

इससे पहले सुबह 11.23 बजे पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी ने ट्वीट कहा था, मेरे प्यारे देशवासियों, आज सवेरे लगभग 11.45 – 12.00 बजे मैं राष्‍ट्र के नाम एक महत्वपूर्ण संदेश लेकर आप के बीच आऊंगा. टेलीविजन, रेडियो या सोशल मीडिया पर मेरा संदेश सुनें.

अधिक पासपोर्ट के कारण नीरव मोदी की मुसीबतें बढ़ी

लंदन: भगोड़ा हीरा कारोबारी नीरव मोदी के पास तीन पासपोर्ट हैं. लंदन पुलिस की गिरफ्तारी के बाद जब उसे शहर के वेस्टमिंस्टर मजिस्ट्रेट की अदालत में पेश किया गया, तब उसके पास तीन पासपोर्ट होने का पता चला. लंदन पुलिस (स्काटलैंड यार्ड) ने भारतीय जांच एजेंसियों की तरफ से कारोबारी को गिरफ्तार किया है. नीरव मोदी के वकीलों की टीम की अगुवाई कर रहे जार्ज हेपबर्न स्काट ने अदालत से जमानत के लिये आग्रह करते समय कई यात्रा दस्तावेज होने की बात कही. जमानत अर्जी को जिला न्यायाधीश मारी मैलोन ने खारिज कर दिया.

भारतीय एजेंसियों ने 48 वर्षीय हीरा कारोबारी का पासपोर्ट को रद्द कर दिया था. उसके पास जो पासपोर्ट हैं, उसमें एक अब मेट्रोपोलिटन पुलिस के पास है, दूसरा पासपोर्ट ब्रिटेन के गृह विभाग के पास पड़ा है. इसकी समयसीमा समाप्त हो चुकी है. तीसरा पासपोर्ट ब्रिटेन के ड्राइविंग एंड व्हीकल लाइसेंसिंग आथोरिटी के पास है.

अदालत को यह भी बताया गया कि नीरव मोदी के पास पासपोर्ट के अलावा कई निवास कार्ड भी हैं. इनमें से कुछ की मियाद समाप्त हो गयी है. उसके पास जिन देशों के निवासी (रेसिडेंसी) कार्ड हैं, उनमें संयुक्त अरब अमीरात, सिंगापुर तथा हांगकांग के हैं. यह अभी साफ नहीं है कि करीब 2 अरब डालर के मनी लांड्रिंग आरोप का सामना कर रहे हीरा कारोबारी के पास कैसे इतने पासपोर्ट आये. 

स्वामी असीमानंद के दोषमुक्त होने पर पाकिस्तान में मची खलबली

भारत के प्रति 1000 घाव जो रिसते रहें की नीति वाले पाकिस्तान ने हमेशा अपनी सरजमीं पर आतंक को पोषित किया है। दाऊद हो, मसूद अज़हर हो या फिर हफीज हो पाकिस्तान हमेशा इन्हे अपने सुरक्षा घेरे में रखता रहा है और आगे भी रखेगा। आज जब भारत की सरजमीं पर हुये एक आतंकवादी हमले में जिसमें दो पाकिस्तानी नागरिकों की संदिग्ध संलिप्तता भी कही जाती रही है उस मामले में निर्दोष लोग जो 10 साल तक बिना सज़ा के कैद भुगतते रहे, भारतीय कानून के अनुसार दोष सिद्ध न हो पाने के कारण उन्हे दोषमुक्त किया गया तो पाकिस्तान तिलमिला उठा।

पाकिस्तान ने समझौता ट्रेन में विस्फोट के आतंकी मामले में सभी चार आरोपियों के बरी किए जाने को लेकर भारतीय राजदूत को तलब किया. पाकिस्तान विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार, पाकिस्तान ने भारतीय राजदूत को तलब किया और समझौता ट्रेन में विस्फोट के आतंकी मामले में सभी चार आरोपियों के बरी किए जाने को लेकर कड़ी निंदा करते हुए विरोध जताया है. 2007 में हुए इस धमाके में 68 लोगों की मौत हो गई थी, जिनमें ज्यादातर पाकिस्तानी थे. भारत-पाकिस्तान के बीच चलने वाली इस ट्रेन में 18 फरवरी 2007 को हरियाणा के पानीपत के नजदीक धमाका हुआ था. 

असीमानंद को बरी किये जाने पर बोलीं महबूबा- दोहरा मापदंड क्यों?
उधर पीपुल्स डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टी (पीडीपी) की अध्यक्ष महबूबा मुफ्ती ने बुधवार को एक अदालत द्वारा समझौता ट्रेन धमाका मामले के आरोपियों को बरी किये जाने के आधारों पर सवाल उठाया. जम्मू-कश्मीर की पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री महबूबा ने बुधवार को कहा, “महत्वपूर्ण सबूत होने के बावजूद आरएसएस के एक पूर्व सदस्य समेत आरोपियों को बरी कर दिया गया. भगवान न करे, अगर वह कश्मीरी या मुस्लिम होते तो उन्हें दोषी ठहरा दिया जाता और निष्पक्ष सुनवाई के बिना ही जेल में डाल दिया जाता. भगवा आतंक को लेकर ऐसी नर्मी और दोहरे मापदंड क्यों? महबूबा मुफ्ती का यह बयान हरियाणा की एक विशेष अदालत द्वारा समझौता ट्रेन धमाका मामले में स्वामी असीमानंद तथा अन्य तीन आरोपियों को बरी किये जाने के बाद आया है. 

पाकिस्तान के लिए भी अहम था फैसला
भारत-पाकिस्तान के बीच सप्ताह में दो दिन चलने वाली समझौता एक्सप्रेस में 18 फरवरी 2007 में बम धमाका हुआ था. ट्रेन दिल्ली से लाहौर जा रही थी. विस्फोट हरियाणा के पानीपत जिले में चांदनी बाग थाने के अंतर्गत सिवाह गांव के दीवाना स्टेशन के नजदीक हुआ था. हादसे में 68 लोगों की मौत हो गई थी. ब्लास्ट में 12 लोग घायल हो गए थे. धमाके में जान गंवाने वालों में अधिकतर पाकिस्तानी नागरिक थे इसलिए पाकिस्तान की नज़रे भी इस मामले पर टिकी हुई थी. मारे जाने वाले 68 लोगों में 16 बच्चों समेत चार रेलवे कर्मी भी शामिल थे.

चीनी उत्पाद खरीदना और इस्तेमाल करना भारत की मजबूरी: चीनि मीडिया

हाल ही में चीन द्वारा संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद् में चौथी बार मसूद अजहर को ग्लोबल आतंकी घोषित करने पर वीटो का उपयोग करने और एक लम्बे अर्से से पाकिस्तान की हर प्रकार की मदद करने पर चीन के प्रॉडक्ट्स के बॉयकॉट की उठी थी. चीनी सामानों के बहिष्कार पर चीन की मीडिया ने भारत पर तंज कसा है. चीन की अखबार ग्लोबल टाइम्स ने कहा है कि भारत की मैन्युफैक्चरिंग इंडस्ट्री अभी भी अविकसित है और इसमें प्रतिद्वंद्विता की क्षमता नहीं है. यही कारण है कि भारत में बॉयकॉट चाइनीज प्रॉडक्ट्स मुहिम अब तक असफल रहा है.

सोमवार को प्रकाशित एक ब्लॉग में कहा गया है, कुछ भारतीय विश्लेषक मेड इन चाइना प्रॉडक्ट्स के बहिष्कार की अपील कर रहे हैं. खासकर मसूद अजहर को वैश्विक आतंकी घोषित करने के प्रयास को यूएन में चीन द्वारा रोके जाने के बाद #BoycottChineseProducts ट्विटर पर काफी लोकप्रिय हो गया है. लेकिन इतने सालों से बॉयकॉट का प्रयास असफल क्यों रहा है. ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि भारत खुद प्रॉडक्ट्स का उत्पादन नहीं कर सकता है. इसमें आगे कहा गया है, पसंद करें या नहीं, उन्हें अभी भी चीन में बने सामानों का इस्तेमाल करना पड़ेगा क्योंकि भारत की अभी भी बड़े पैमाने पर उत्पादन करने की क्षमता कम है.

वहीं आतंकवादी मसूद अजहर को लेकर चीन के प्रति गुस्सा प्रकट करने के लिए देश के व्यापारियों के सबसे बड़े संगठन कॉन्फ़ेडरेशन ऑफ़ आल इंडिया ट्रेडर्स (कैट) के आवाहन पर आज दिल्ली सहित देश भर के विभिन्न राज्यों में व्यापारी संगठनो ने 1500 से अधिक स्थानों पर चीनी वस्तुओं की होली जलाई और चीन के बने सामान का बहिष्कार करने का संकल्प लिया. साथ ही सरकार से चीन के आयात पर प्रतिबंध लगाने की भी मांग की. अखबार ने कहा, भारत के भीतर मौजूद ताकतें ही देश में सुधारों की प्रक्रिया को रोक रही हैं.
