Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case: Even though Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said on Friday that no leniency will be shown to those involved in the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav will launch a protest against the Nitish Kumar government at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday evening. Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal are expected to join the stir.

Congress Working Committee Meeting: The core committee of the main Opposition party will meet once again today to chalk out its plan for 2019 Lok Sabha Election. Sources in Congress have indicated that the party may announce Priyanka Gandhi’s candidacy from Rae Bareli in the 2019 polls.

Congress-JD(S) to fight separately in local body elections: Congress and JD(S) have decided to separately contest the local bodies elections in Karnataka, which will be held on 29 August. Even though they have put up a united front at the Vidhan Soudha and for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, both parties are likely to be seen contesting and criticising each other in the local bodies election. Polling will be held in 29 municipal corporations, 53 town municipalities and 23 town panchayats. Has the rift widened between the alliance partners? It may be a too early to say that, but Congress leaders have left it up to the local leaders to decide whether they want to tie-up or fight individually.

Article 35-A in Jammu and Kashmir: The ongoing debate over the validity of Article 35-A in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to heat up with National Conference holding a protest march today against tampering in Article 35A today at 11 am from Nawa-e-Subah complex in Srinagar. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association has termed the provision an aberration and is planning to file petition challenging the validity of Article 35-A before the Supreme Court.

29th GST Council Meet: Finance Minister Piyush Goyal will chair the meeting today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The council meeting is convened mainly to discuss issues, concerns and suggestions of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the GST regime among others.

UIDAI Number: The morning of 3 August saw many Indians confused and angry, as the UIDAI toll-free number had mysteriously slithered into their phone-books. The issue came to light when the French hacker by the pseudonym Elliot Anderson took to Twitter about the UIDAI contact listed on his phone. UIDAI had denied responsibility for the same and there is no information about who made this happen. Who put the number? How do they have access to our contacts? Besides adding, does it also mean that they can collect information from it? These are some of the questions that will be answered hopefully in the days that follow.

XiaomI Qin AI: Chinese smartphone maker Xiomi just launched its first feature fone series, called the Qin AI. Two Android-powered phones, the Qin 1 and the Qin 1s have been launched at CNY 199 (about Rs 1,990) and CNY 299 (about Rs 2,990). They also feature real-time translation for 17 international languages. The only difference is that the Qin 1 is a 2G only phone, and the Qin 1s has 4G LTE and VOLTE support. If launched in India, the phones could be the most affordable feature phones with AI capabilities.

India vs England, 1st Test, 4th Day: The equation is fairly simple — India need 84 runs to clinch victory in the first Test, whereas England need five wickets. सांगली और जलगांव दोनों महानगरपालिकाओं में बीजेपी का झंडा फहराने में कामयाब रहे देवेंद्र फडनवीस

मराठा आरक्षण पर हिंसक आंदोलन के कारण प्रचार पर नहीं जाने के बावजूद महाराष्ट्र के सीएम देवेंद्र फडणवीस सांगली और जलगांव दोनों महानगरपालिकाओं में बीजेपी का झंडा फहराने में कामयाब रहे. दोनों जगह बीजेपी ने करीब 35 साल बाद जीत हासिल की है. इससे फडणवीस को खुद को मजबूत करने में बड़ी मदद मिलेगी.

इस जीत के बाद बीजेपी कार्यकर्ता जमकर जश्न मानते नजर आए. सांगली और जलगांव की जीत बीजेपी और सीएम फडणवीस के लिए बड़े मायने रखती है. दोनों ही महानगरपालिका बीजेपी ने बरसों बाद जीती है, वो भी तब जब मराठा बहुल इलाकों में मराठा आंदोलन की लहर चल रही है. साफ है बीजेपी का जलवा कायम है. जल संसाधन मंत्री गिरीश महाजन ने कहा कि कई सालों बाद मिली यह जीत बीजेपी के लिए बहुत मायने रखती है.

जलगांव में बीजेपी 36 साल बाद खुद के दम पर जीती है. अब तक वहां सुरेश दादा जैन की खानदेश विकास पार्टी का कब्जा रहा है. लेकिन बीजेपी वहां 75 में से 57 सीटों के साथ बहुमत में आ गई. वहां पर बीजेपी से नाराज चल रहे पूर्व मंत्री एकनाथ खडसे घर से निकले तक नहीं, फिर भी बीजेपी जीत गई. यहां बीजेपी से अलग होकर जैन के साथ चुनाव लड़ने वाली शिवसेना को बस 15 सीटों पर ही संतोष करना पड़ा जबकि कांग्रेस-एनसीपी का तो खाता भी नहीं खुला.

वहीं, बीजेपी दिवंगत पूर्व मंत्री पतंगराव का किला सांगली भी छीनने में कामयाब रही. सांगली में 78 सीटों में से बीजेपी को 41 सीटें मिली, जबकि कांग्रेस-एनसीपी गठबंधन को 35 सीट मिली. अन्य के खाते में दो सीटें आईं और शिवसेना का खाता भी नहीं खुला.

इन चुनावों का संदेश साफ है कि बीजेपी का परचम लहरा रहा है. शिवसेना अलग होकर भी कुछ खास नहीं कर पाई. एनसीपी कांग्रेस की हालत खराब है. इन चुनावोंं के बाद अब बीजेपी अपने शतप्रतिशत लक्ष्‍य के और करीब पहुंचती जा रही है. जाहिर है शिवसेना को भी इससे बड़ा सबक मिला है.

कांग्रेस ने दावा किया कि अगर उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार और महाराष्ट्र में ‘सही से’ गठबंधन हो गया तो बीजेपी सत्ता में नहीं लौटने वाली है लेकिन महाराष्ट्र में शिवसेना से गठबंधन की संभावना से पर कहा कि विचारधारा अलग होने की वजह से शिवसेना के साथ गठबंधन नहीं हो सकता

‘उत्तर प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र और बिहार में सही से गठबंधन हो गया तो बीजेपी की 120 सीटें अपने आप कम हो जाएंगी और उत्तर प्रदेश में तो सत्तारूढ़ पार्टी पांच सीटों पर सिमट जाएगी.’

लोकसभा चुनाव से पहले बीजेपी के खिलाफ मजबूत गठबंधन बनाने के विपक्षी दलों के प्रयास के बीच कांग्रेस ने तय किया है कि फिलहाल पूरा ध्यान विपक्षी पार्टियों को एकजुट कर नरेंद्र मोदी को हराने पर लगाया जाएगा और प्रधानमंत्री पद के बारे में निर्णय चुनाव नतीजे आने के बाद होगा.

पार्टी के शीर्ष सूत्रों ने इसकी पुष्टि की है. सूत्रों ने यह भी कहा कि उत्तर प्रदेश में गठबंधन के लिए एसपी, बीएसपी और अन्य बीजेपी विरोधी दलों के बीच भी ‘रणनीतिक समझ’ बन गई है.

उन्होंने दावा किया कि अगर उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार और महाराष्ट्र में ‘सही से’ गठबंधन हो गया तो बीजेपी सत्ता में नहीं लौटने वाली है.

लोकसभा चुनाव से पहले प्रधानमंत्री पद के लिए चेहरा पेश करने के सवाल पर सूत्रों ने कहा कि कांग्रेस फिलहाल दो चरणों में काम कर रही है. पहला चरण सभी विपक्षी दलों को एक साथ लाकर बीजेपी और नरेंद्र मोदी को हराने का है. दूसरा चरण चुनाव परिणाम का है जिसके बाद दूसरे बिंदुओं पर बात होगी.

सूत्रों ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री पद को लेकर चुनाव से पहले बातचीत करना ‘विभाजनकारी’ होगा.

उन्होंने कहा कि सारे विपक्षी दलों में यह व्यापक सहमति बन चुकी है कि सभी को मिलकर बीजेपी और आरएसएस को हराना है.

उत्तर प्रदेश में महागठबंधन के सवाल पर कांग्रेस के सूत्रों ने कहा, ‘बातचीत चल रही है, लेकिन इतना जरूर कहा जा सकता है कि गठबंधन को लेकर रणनीतिक सहमति बन गई है.’

क्या है कांग्रेस का दावा?

उन्होंने कहा, ‘उत्तर प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र और बिहार में सही से गठबंधन हो गया तो बीजेपी की 120 सीटें अपने आप कम हो जाएंगी और उत्तर प्रदेश में तो सत्तारूढ़ पार्टी पांच सीटों पर सिमट जाएगी.’

कांग्रेस सूत्रों ने यह भी दावा कि आगामी लोकसभा चुनाव में मध्य प्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ़, राजस्थान, पंजाब, हरियाणा और कई अन्य राज्यों में पार्टी की लोकसभा सीटों में काफी इजाफा होगा.

शिवसेना के साथ तालमेल की संभावना के सवाल पर कांग्रेस सूत्रों ने कहा कि हमारा गठबंधन समान विचाराधारा वाले दलों के साथ हो सकता है और शिवसेना और कांग्रेस की विचाराधारा अलग है, इसलिए उसके साथ गठबंधन नहीं हो सकता. उन्होंने कहा कि महाराष्ट्र में कांग्रेस और एनसीपी के बीच पुराना गठबंधन है और वह आगे भी जारी रहेगा.

पिछले महीने अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी ने कहा था कि एक राष्ट्र एक चुनाव में कोई दम नहीं है, यह सिर्फ जुमला है, इसका मकसद लोगों को बरगलाना और मूर्ख बनाना है

कांग्रेस ने शुक्रवार को लॉ कमीशन से कहा कि वह लोकसभा और विधानसभा चुनाव एकसाथ कराए जाने के विचार का ‘पुरजोर’ विरोध करती है क्योंकि यह भारतीय संघवाद के बुनियादी ढांचे के खिलाफ है. कांग्रेस शिष्टमंडल ने लॉ कमीशन के प्रमुख से मुलाकात की और पार्टी के रुख से उनको अवगत कराया.

इस शिष्टमंडल में मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे, पी चिदंबरम, अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी, आनंद शर्मा और जेडी सेलम शामिल थे. सूत्रों के अनुसार कांग्रेस शिष्टमंडल ने कहा कि पार्टी एकसाथ चुनाव कराने का ‘पुरजोर ढंग’ से विरोध करती है.

पिछले महीने अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी ने कहा था कि एक राष्ट्र एक चुनाव में कोई दम नहीं है. यह सिर्फ जुमला है. इसका मकसद लोगों को बरगलाना और मूर्ख बनाना है. एक साथ चुनाव की बात सुनने में अच्छी लगती है. इस विचार के पीछे इरादा अच्छा नहीं है. यह प्रस्ताव लोकतंत्र की बुनियाद पर कुठाराघात हैं. यह जनता की इच्छा के विरुद्ध है. इसके पीछे अधिनायकवादी रवैया है.

कांग्रेस समेत अन्य दल पहले भी कर चुके हैं इसका विरोध

इस साल जनवरी में कार्मिक, लोक शिकायत, कानून और न्याय संबंधी संसद की स्टैंडिंग कमेटी के सामने कांग्रेस, कम्यूनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ इंडिया, कम्यूनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ इंडिया (मार्क्सिस्ट) और तृणमूल कांग्रेस के सदस्यों ने पीएम मोदी के वन नेशन-वन इलेक्शन के विचार का विरोध किया था.

एकसाथ चुनाव के लिए लॉ कमीशन ने एक दस्तावेज तैयार किया है. दस्तावेज में कमीशन ने 1951 के जनप्रतिनिधि कानून में कई संवैधानिक और अन्य संशोधन सुझाने के साथ ‘एक देश-एक चुनाव’ के नियम और प्रकिया बताई है. कमीशन ने एकसाथ चुनाव के लिए दो चरणों में चुनाव का प्रस्ताव रखा है.

सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता अन्ना हजारे पहले भी लोकपाल की नियुक्ति के लिए भूख हड़ताल कर चुके हैं, जिसके कारण पहले भी केंद्र सरकार को झुकना पड़ा था। अन्ना हजारे को ये आश्वासन दिया गया था कि जल्दी ही लोकपाल बिल की नियुक्ति कर दी जाएगी, लेकिन काफी समय बीत जाने के बाद भी लोकपाल नियुक्त नहीं किया गया।

आम आदमी पार्टी के प्रदेशाध्यक्ष नवीन जयहिंद का कहना है कि हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री मनेाहर लाल को अपने स्वास्थ्यमंत्री का ईलाज करवाना चाहिए। यहां अगर कोई अस्पताल में बढिय़ा न होता हो तो फिर उन्हें इस मंत्री को आगरा भेजना चाहिए,क्योंकि उन्हें इस समय इसकी सबसे ज्यादा आवश्यक्ता है। उ नकी दिमागी हालत ठीक नहीं लग रही। वैसे वह उनके मन व दिमाग की शुद्धि के लिए उन्हें हरिद्वार से लाया हुआ गंगा जल भी देंगे जोकि वह और उनके साथी हरियाणा के सभी विधायकों व सांसदों को दे ही रहे हैं।

जयहिंद आज यहां भाईचारा कांवड़ यात्रा कार्यक्रम के तहत अपने पंचकूला प्रवास के दौरान पत्रकारों से बात कर रहे थे। पंचकूला के जिला प्रधान योगेश्वर शर्मा के साथ पत्रकारों से बात करते हुए एक सावाल के जबाव में उन्होंने कहा कि यह अनिल विज या भाजपा के नेता ही हैं जोकि लोगों के  डूबने की बात करते हुए प्रदेश के लोगों को डुबोने का काम करते हैं। जबकि आप पार्टी प्रदेश के लोगों को आपस में जोडऩे का काम करती है और सबके भविष्य की मंगल कामना करती है। उनका कहना है कि हम किसी का बुरा सपने में भी नहीं सोच सकते और हमारी सोच तो प्रदेश व प्रदेशवासियों के कल्याण की रही है।

नवीन जयहिंद ने आगे कहा कि वैसे आप प्रदेश का भाईचारा बने रहा इसी प्रयास के तहत यह कांवड़ यात्रा की जा रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि वह प्रदेश के सभी विधायकों एवं सांसदों के लिए गंगा जल लेकर आएं हैं और वह या उनके साथी उन्हें भेंट कर उन्हें इस बात की याद दिलांएगे कि वे प्रदेश की जनता से किए अपने वायदों को पूरा करें। उन्होंने कहा कि उनकी यह कांवड़ यात्रा पूरे पांच सौ किलोमीटर का सफर तय कर रेाहतक में समाप्त होगी और वहीं एमडीयू में शहीदस्मारक वह जलाभिषेक करेंगे।

आप के जिला पंचकूला के प्रधान योगेश्वर शर्मा ने कहा है कि अनिल विज हरियाणा के एक वरिष्ठ नेता हैं और लंबे समय से राजनीति कर रहे हैं। उन्हें अपनी आयु और अपने राजनीतिक अनुभव को ध्यान में रखते हुए भाषा को मर्यादित करना चाहिए। योगेश्वर शर्मा ने आगे कहा कि माना कि उनकी अपनी ही सरकार में नहीं चलती और उनके द्वारा कहे गये काम नहीं हो रहे, इसका मतलब यह नहीं कि वह इसकी भड़ास विपक्ष के नेताओं पर निकालें। उन्होंने कहा कि विज को विपक्ष पर कटाक्ष करने से पहले अपने विभाग की ओर ध्यान देना चाहिए जिसमें रेाजना लेागों की शिकायतें सामने आती हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि हरियाणा भर में कहीं तो अस्पताल में डाक्टरों की कमी की शिकायत है तो कहीं पर दवाएं ही पूरी नहीं मिल रही। इतना ही नहीं उनके ही विभाग में गड़बडिय़ों का जिक्र भी आए दिन सामने आता रहता है।

 

Seventeen Opposition parties demanding use of ballot papers in 2019 Loksabha elections

New Delhi: Seventeen Opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress, are planning to approach the Election Commission, demanding that ballot papers be used to conduct the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

The 17 parties would meet next week to discuss the plan.

“This is a matter on which all Opposition parties agreed. We are planning to meet next week. We plan to go to Election Commission and demand that the EC conduct the coming Lok Sabha elections using ballot papers,” TMC leader Derek O’Brien told reporters.

The initiative to solicit the support of all Opposition parties on the matter was taken by TMC chief Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, when she visited Parliament to meet Opposition leaders and invite them for her planned rally in Kolkata on 19 January.

Banerjee was heard appealing to opposition party leaders who visited her in the TMC office in Parliament, to send a joint delegation to the Election Commission over reports of EVM tampering and to demand that the 2019 general election be held on ballots.

“All opposition parties should go to EC on this matter. There should be a joint delegation of opposition parties to EC,” Banerjee was heard telling opposition party leaders, including from the Congress.

The TMC had staged protests outside Parliament, questioning the neutrality of electronic voting machines, and demanded that ballot papers be brought back for the 2019 Lok Sabha election. The ruling party in West Bengal said it is a “common programme” that will unite all opposition parties.

Interestingly, Banerjee had also urged the Shiv Sena, a BJP ally, to be a part of the delegation.

Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray previously demanded that the 2019 Lok Sabha election be conducted using ballot papers instead of EVMs.

Women must marry in hinduism instead facing triple talaq or halala: Sadhvi Praachi

Mathura: Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sadhvi Prachi has asked Muslim women who faced triple talaq to join Hinduism.

In provocative remarks in Mathura on Tuesday, she said if women marry in Islam, they will “definitely” undergo a divorce.

This will be followed by the “horrible halala”, she told reporters in Mathura, referring to the controversial form of marriage.

“So kick the culture which ruins lives and adopt Hinduism,” Sadhvi Prachi, who has been booked for hate speech in the past, said.

She said Hinduism binds a couple for “seven lifetimes”.

“In Hindu society, you will get good values and good sons. Please join, you are welcome,” she said, offering Muslim women a “life in heaven.”

The controversial preacher said she wanted to meet activist Nida Khan who is fighting against practices like triple talaq and halala.

Loktantrik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav appealed to the Congress Thursday to take the lead in bringing together all opposition parties on a single platform to dislodge the BJP from power.

Addressing a gathering, he said the country was currently reeling under an “undeclared democracy” in the BJP rule.

“It (defeating the BJP) will not happen without opposition unity. Those getting 31 percent votes are ruling now because 69 percent votes stood divided. The Congress is the biggest opposition party and it should take responsibility to bring all parties on a single platform,” Yadav said while addressing the state-level Lokkranti Sammelan.

“We will have an alliance with the Congress at the national level and also make an effort to have a coalition here (in Madhya Pradesh),” he said in an interaction with reporters after the function.The former JD(U) leader also hinted that parties in the proposed Third Front would forge an alliance with the Congress at the national level and in Madhya Pradesh, where assembly polls were due later in 2018.

He was responding to a query whether the parties under the proposed Third Front would stitch an alliance with the Congress.

“An undeclared emergency is more dangerous than the declared one. At present, there is an undeclared emergency in the country,” he said, alleging that the governments in Madhya Pradesh and Centre were spreading lies.

He said every section of the society was suffering under the BJP-led central government which had caused the “maximum damage” to the country in just four years.

Yadav appealed to the people to vote in the upcoming elections with an objective to save the country and the Constitution and not on the lines of caste and religion.

He said the BJP under leaders like (former prime minister) Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani was different from the present one under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“It is time for the people to ask the government to fulfill the electoral promises made by them,” the socialist leader said.

Yadav slammed the Modi-led government over the “non-fulfilment” of the electoral promise of creating 2 crore jobs and for demonetising higher currencies.

Accusing the BJP of dividing the society, Yadav claimed, “Cows seem have become more important than their daughters and mothers.”

He alleged that the Madhya Pradesh government had “ruined” the Narmada and the Tawa rivers by allowing illegal mining.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s “Jan Ashirvad (blessing) Yatra”, Yadav dubbed the mass outreach campaign ‘Jan Abhishap (curse) Yatra’.

“The BJP rule has become an ‘abhishap’ (curse) for the common people,” he claimed.

Yadav said he had coined two slogans, “BJP Bhagao – Desh Bachao” and “Modi Hatao Samvidhan Bachao”. He claimed that 102 people had died in mob lynching incidents in the country under the BJP rule.

Speaking on the occasion, Bahujan Sangharsh Dal (BSD) president Phool Singh Baraiya alleged, “Most of the slaughter-houses exporting beef abroad are run by Hindus.”

He dared the BJP governments to cancel the licenses of these facilities. Congress leader and former East Delhi MP Sandeep Dikshit and Communist leaders from Madhya Pradesh also attended the convention.

जस्टिस संजीव खन्ना और जस्टिस चंद्र शेखर की पीठ ने कहा कि यह साबित करने की जिम्मेदारी चुनाव आयोग की है कि आआपा विधायकों ने लाभ का पद ग्रहण किया और विधायक यह नहीं कह सकते कि वे शिकायतकर्ता से पूछताछ करेंगे

दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने गुरुवार को कहा कि आम आदमी पार्टी के विधायक चुनाव आयोग को इस बात के लिए मजबूर नहीं कर सकते कि संसदीय सचिव के रूप में उनकी नियुक्ति को ‘लाभ का पद’ बताने का आरोप लगाने वाले व्यक्ति से पूछताछ की जाए.

जस्टिस संजीव खन्ना और जस्टिस चंद्र शेखर की पीठ ने कहा कि यह साबित करने की जिम्मेदारी चुनाव आयोग की है कि आआपा विधायकों ने लाभ का पद ग्रहण किया और विधायक यह नहीं कह सकते कि वे शिकायतकर्ता से पूछताछ करेंगे.

पीठ ने कहा, ‘कानूनी स्थिति के अनुसार, आप चुनाव आयोग को (शिकायतकर्ता) प्रशांत पटेल को बुलाकर उनसे पूछताछ करने के लिए मजबूर नहीं कर सकते. विवाद बहुत सीमित है. चुनाव आयोग शिकायतकर्ता की शिकायत पर भरोसा नहीं कर रहा है, वह दस्तावेजों पर भरोसा कर रहा है.’

एक आआपा विधायक की ओर से पेश वरिष्ठ वकील केवी विश्वनाथन ने कहा कि उन्हें पटेल से पूछताछ और गवाहों को बुलाने की अनुमति मिलनी चाहिए. उन्होंने कहा कि वे विधानसभा के महासचिव और प्रशासन विभाग, एकाउंट और कानून मंत्रालय के संबंधित अधिकारियों को गवाहों के रूप में बुलाकर यह साबित करना चाहते हैं कि आप विधायक लाभ के पद पर काबिज नहीं थे.

आयोग की ओर से पेश वरिष्ठ वकील अरविंद निगम ने दलीलों का विरोध करते हुए कहा कि दस्तावेजों की विश्वसनीयता को लेकर कोई विवाद नहीं है और यह पूरी तरह से दस्तावेजों की व्याख्या का मामला है. कुछ समय के लिए मामले की सुनवाई करने के बाद पीठ ने मामले की सुनवाई नौ अगस्त तक स्थगित कर दी.

हाईकोर्ट ने 23 मार्च के अपने फैसले में चुनाव आयोग की आआपा विधायकों को अयोग्य ठहराने की सिफारिशों को ‘कानून की नजर में गलत’ बताया था और उससे मामले को नए सिरे से सुनने का निर्देश दिया था.
