E-CONTENT DEVELOPMENT DISCUSSED DURING 3rd DAY of MOOCs WORKSHOP AT PU

The third day of the ongoing MOOCs workshop was dedicated to the latest methodologies used in e-content development under E-PGP(Post Graduate Programme) and pedagogy and developing online courses with Google. Prof. Jatinder Grover, CALEM Coordinator, PU, and Dr. Vishal Sharma, SWAYAM Coordinator PU, introduced the theme and topics to be discussed on the day three of the seven days workshop for developing MOOCs. 

Prof. Vinod K. Garg from Central University of Punjab, Bathinda discussed intricacies of e-PG Pathshala. He informed that there are 22,000 plus modules available for the students for e-learning. He also shared that e-PG Pathshala is free, affordable and provides access of quality self learning study material developed by the subject experts. He also explained that in API the module development carry marks for the promotion of teaching faculty.  He demonstrated the working of Vidyamitra channel on YouTube and various aspects of SWAYAM website.   

            The other sessions were dedicated to Digital Pedagogy and developing online courses with Google and Eliademy respectively by Srinivasa K.G., Prof. (IMCO) from NITTTR, Chandigarh. He shared the importance of Digital pedagogy for developing effective MOOCs. The tools may vary as per pedagogy. He further explained about the other aspects of digital pedagogy viz flipped classroom, blended learning, online education resources, markspace, value based education etc. The MOOC is a very big platform and there are many players in the MOOC, and it is big business nowadays. He also explained the concept of nano-degrees and commercial benefits to educational institutes. He shared that MOOC creators are learning about the learning experience of the learners. The teachers should adopt technology and develop MOOCs for reaching large number of students. He explained the Moodle and Google Classroom for teaching learning process. Besides that the Assessment with the help of Learning Management System (LMS), use of social media, cloud based services, use of mobile phones, setting up of Rubrics for various pedagogies was also discussed in the last academic session.

550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji celebrated

            The celebration of the 550th birth anniversary of Sh Guru Nanak Dev Ji was observed at Sarojini Hall, Girls Hostel no 3, Panjab University, Chandigarh, here today. Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar; Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Prof. Emanual Nahar, Dean Student Welfare(DSW) Prof. Neena Caplash, DSW(W), Dr. Parminder Singh, Director of Sports) and Wardens of other hostels marked their presence on this pious event.

            The programme started with an  imminent “Shri Sukhmani Saheb Path” followed by a devout Shabad Kirtan performed by the residents to commemorate the teachings of  the Divine, Waheguru.

            An inter-hostel calligraphy competition was also organized based on the theme “ Quotes from Guru Granth Sahib by saints other than Sikh Gurus.” Sonepreet Kaur, Girls Hostel-6 was declared as winner of this competition. Sukhmanpreet Kaur, Girls Hostel-3 was 2nd and Akanksha Bhatia (Girls hostel-2) & Komal (Girls Hostel-3) were declared as third. At the end of the programme guests and residents were served langar by the hostel volunteers.

Workshop on “MAKING OF A RESEARCH PROPOSAL” by UILS, PU

            The Criminal Justice Practicum Cell (CJPC) of University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, successfully organized a workshop on “Making of a Research Proposal” under the aegis of Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh (Director, UILS), Dr. Anju Choudhary (Faculty Coordinator, CJPC, UILS), Dheerja Kalra (Student Coordinator, CJPC).

            The workshop was aimed at honing the research skills of the students in making research proposals. The workshop was conducted by the esteemed guest of honour Dr. Jayanti Dutta, Deputy Director, Academic College Staff, Panjab University. She has been one of the main proponents of this program for several years and is a true standout in her field. The workshop holistically developed students efficiency in linguistic, ethnographic and text-based research. It was an interactive comprehensive workshop which dealt with several aspects like scientific ways of conducting research, data analysis, and modern techniques of quantitative and qualitative research. The workshop concluded with fruitful discussions and deliberations. It was received among the students with great enthusiasm.

          A case U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC has been registered in PS-19, Chandigarh against a person who was arrested while consuming liquor at public place on 05.11.2019. Later he was released on bail.

One arrested under NDPS Act

Chandigarh Police arrested Devinder 12, Pabhat Road, Zirakpur, near BDC, Bridge, Sector-26, Chandigarh and recovered 12 injections of pheniramine maleate and Buperanorphine drugs from his possession. A case FIR No. 255, U/S 22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-26, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Action against Gambling/Satta

          Chandigarh Police arrested Mahesh Kumar R/o # 78, Hem Vihar, Baltana (PB) while playing satta near Gate No.3, MHC, Manimajra, Chandigarh on 05.11.2019. Total cash Rs. 2210/- was recovered from his possession. A case FIR No. 188, U/S 13A-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered in PS-MM, Chandigarh. Later he was released on bail. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Chandigarh Police arrested Veeru R/o # 1252, NIC, Manimajra, Chandigarh while playing satta near # 1211, NIC, MM, Chandigarh on 05.11.2019. Total cash Rs. 800/- was recovered from his possession. A case FIR No. 193, U/S 13A-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered in PS-IT Park, Chandigarh. Later he was released on bail. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Murder

A case FIR No. 184, U/S 498-A, 302 IPC has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh on the complaint of Soni Kumar R/o # 2728, Maloya, Chandigarh alleged that Anoop Singh R/o # 3651, Maloya colony, Chandigarh murdered complainant’s daughter namely Sheetal W/o Anoop Singh at his residence on 05.11.2019.  Accused arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Dowry

          A lady resident of Chandigarh alleged that her husband and her in-laws resident of Uttrakhand, harassed complainant to bring more dowry. A case FIR No. 151, U/S 406, 498-A IPC has been registered in PS-Women, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.

Accident

Tejinder Singh R/o # 19, Hallomajra, Chandigarh alleged that unknown driver of car No.HR03U-8771, who hit to complainant’s father namely Sher Singh on Rickshaw near Lekha Bhawan, Sector 20/33 dividing road on 02.11.2019. Resultantly Sher Singh fell down from rickshaw and got injured and admitted in GMCH-32, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 271, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.

Bir Bahadur R/o # 1106, Vill-Kishangarh, Chandigarh alleged that unknown driver of white colour vehicle number not known, who hit to complainant’s Activa Scooter No.CH01BG-0355 near Chandigarh Sweets, Ind. Area, Chandigarh. Resultantly pillion rider namely Ravinder Singh got injured and admitted in PGI, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 284, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-Ind. Area, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.

Balwinder Singh R/o Village Khakla, Distt. Ropar, (PB) alleged that unknown driver of Truck No. HR68A-4279, who hit to complainant’s brother namely Surmukh Singh at Jeeri Mandi, Maloya on 04.11.2019.  A case FIR No. 183, U/S 279, 304-A IPC has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh. Investigation of case is in progress.

Theft

A case FIR No. 256, U/S 380 IPC has been registered in PS-26, Chandigarh on the complaint of Karamjit Singh (JE in Electricity Deptt, Sec-18, Chandigarh) R/o # 1032-A, Sector -28/B, Chandigarh against unknown person, who stole away cash Rs. 30,000/- and photo copy of Aadhar card from his residence on 05.11.2019 by opening the main door lock. Investigation of the case is in progress.
