                        The Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized two special lectures in the Department.  Prof. Neeta Das, Former Professor of Architecture, Lucknow University & presently visiting faculty at the School of Architecture, CEPT University, Ahmedabad delivered a talk on the Conservation of Monuments. In her illustrated talk she highlighted that conservation is a continuous process.  In her view, the monumentalizing  a  monument does not help  so the monument should remain in use always. 

            The second lecture on Technical Aspects of Conservation and Application of Lime Mortar was delivered by Mr. Tapan Bhattacharya, Former Deputy Superintending Archaeological Engineer. He dwelt on the aims of conservation.  In his view authenticity, originality durability and structural strength of a monument should be kept in mind always while conserving it.  He stressed that there should not be any physical intervention in the monument while conserving it.

            The lectures were attended by faculty and students from the allied Departments also.
