2 SHOs among 6 Punjab cops suspended for being soft against drug trade

Chandigarh, July 8, 2018:

Adopting strict attitude towards involvement of cops in drug peddling, 6 more Punjab police cops including two SHOs have been suspended for not taking keen interest in anti-drug campaign.

SSP Sangrur Mandeep Singh told Babushahi.com that ‘SHO City 2 Malerkotla, SI Nirmal Singh was suspended and transferred to the district Police Lines Sangrur for not taking keen interest in anti-drug campaign. He was also not taking action against Satta operators in Malerkotla city area.

Another SHO Sherpur police station Rakesh Kumar was suspended with immediate effect and transferred to the district Police Lines for not taking effective action against drug peddlers and loose control over subordinates, added the SSP.

He further told that similar action was taken against four police personnel of Sherpur Police Station ASI Darshan Singh 2139 / SGR, Driver HC Nirmal Singh 1120 / SGR, HC Deepak Kumar 658 / SGR and HC Karnail Singh 300 / SGR for not sharing information and lack of interest in the campaign against drug trade despite having knowledge of  drug peddlers in the Sherpur area.
