25 Properties, 2 Wives & Kids With Same Name Noida Engineer Claimed IT Department

On Thursday, the Income Tax Department busted a Noida Authority engineer who was found to be in possession of five cars (including a Jaguar), Rs. 8 lakh in cash, and at least 25 properties in Noida and Faridabad.

The man, Chaudhury Brijpal Singh, also happened to have two wives, and had two boys and a girl with each of them.

Singh’s properties will be sold off after the investigation

“We will start seizing his properties once our investigation is over. Apart from these 25 properties, we have found documents of properties which have already been purchased and sold. He hasn’t declared any of those properties,” said, Amrinder Kumar, director of the I-T Department’s investigation wing.

I-T Department had its eyes on Singh for six months

The I-T Department had been gathering information about Chaudhary Brijpal Singh for the past six months.

The 59-year-old Singh was working in the Noida Authority’s work circle 1 as an assistant project engineer and is slated to retire in 2019.

The department started search operations after it received several complaints alleging that Singh amassed assets by helping private contractors get government projects in Noida.

Singh had children with same names for easy transactions

Now it gets interesting.

During the investigation, the department found that Singh owned 25 properties registered under the names of family members.

Subsequently, sleuths found out that both sets of children in Singh’s two families – one in Faridabad, the other in Noida – had identical names to make property transactions less suspicious.

The children are adults now, but couldn’t be reached for comments.

Singh was “shocked” when his dual life was uncovered

“He was shocked when we found out about his two wives and children. He kept the same names for his children from both the wives to make the property buying and selling procedure suspicion free,” said Kumar.

How did Singh manage two families at the same time?

Singh lives with his legally wedded wife, their two sons and daughter, in a house in Noida’s Sector 27.

His second family lived in Faridabad, and he reportedly visited them regularly.

It’s not clear whether the two sets of families knew each other and were okay with it.

However, owing to Singh’s regular visits to Faridabad, his legal wife might have harbored suspicions.

“I felt humiliated. I cried the whole day,”Arundhati (Trans Gender)

Picture for reference only

“It is a human rights violation to force trans people to undergo medical tests to verify their gender,” 25-year-old Arundhati said on Friday, four days after she was subjected to apsy chological test to determine if she was a trans woman, as she claimed, on the orders of the Kerala High Court. A trans woman is one who is assigned male at birth but identifies as female.

Expressing the hope that she is the last trans person forced to undergo medical tests to verify gender identity, the resident of Ernakulam district in Kerala added, “I wish the courts would not resort to the practice again.”

The High Court’s order on Monday was in response to a habeas corpus petition filed by Arundhati’s mother on May 25. In her petition, the mother stated that her “son” suffered from a “mood disorder” and that he was being held against his will by the transgender community since the second week of May.

A habeas corpus petition empowers a court to order that a person reported to be illegally detained be presented before it. The court then determines the veracity of the petition and sets the person free according to the law.

The petition followed Arundhathi’s statement to the judicial first class magistrate in Aluva on May 19 that she was a woman and not a man and that she did not wish to live with her parents. She also told the magistrate that she was not being kept against her will by the transgender community.

On Monday, Arundhati was taken to the Kusumagiri Mental Health Centre in Kakkanad, Ernakulam. Doctors at the centre examined her for two days and informed the High Court on Thursday that she had no psychological disorder and that she had chosen her gender by her own will. Following this, the court on Friday declared her mentally stable and said she was free to live as she pleased.

‘I cried the whole day’

Despite the court ruling in her favour, Arundhati says its decision to order a medical examination left her feeling humiliated and ignored.

“I felt humiliated. I cried the whole day,” she said. “I had declared my gender earlier. But the court was not convinced. It took my mother’s petition seriously and ignored my statement that I was a trans woman.”

She also said the Kerala High Court’s actions went against a four-year-old Supreme Court order that assured individuals of the power to determine their gender. “The Supreme Court upheld the rights of [the] transgender community and recognised them as a separate gender in 2014,” she pointed out. “But the Kerala High Court acted against the apex court.”

In its order, the Supreme Court had said, “Gender identity, therefore, refers to an individual’s self-identification as a man, woman, transgender or other identified category.”

Hospitalised and confined

The court-ordered medical tests were not the first time Arundhati received phychological treatment. She says her parents admitted her at the Stella Maris Hospital in Ernakulam last year against her will. “I was tortured at the hospital,” she said. “I was denied access to go out. I was confined to a room for two months. My phone was confiscated. The doctors cut my hair. They gave me a lot of medicines.”

She said her mother had mentioned the treatment in her petition.

Arundhati now plans to sue Stella Maris Hospital. “The tests conducted at Kusumagiri Hospital proved that I am a mentally stable person. I am planning to sue Stella Maris Hospital for unscientific diagnosis and treatment,” she said.

According to her lawyer Maya Krishnan, it is common practice to brand members of the transgender community as psychologically unstable. “It has been going [on] for quite some time,” she said, adding that she hoped Friday’s verdict would encourage more trans people to come out and assert their gender identity.

Arundhati also spoke of how she had hoped her mother would support her. She said she had wanted to come out as a trans woman seven years ago but had held back, fearing a backlash from the family. However, she had confided in her mother way back then.

“I discussed my gender preference with mother seven years ago,” she said. “I told her of my intention to go for sex rearrangement surgery when I grew up. She listened [to] it all. I thought she would help me and [stand] by me when I decided to come out.”

Fresh beginnings

All set to start a new life without her parents, Arundhati says her top priority now is to complete her graduation. She has also thought of a career for herself. “Being good at singing and dancing, I think I can make money from stage shows,” she said.

Arundhati said she had studied music for 12 years and Bharatanatyam for five. She has also been giving performances across the state since 2014.

But her dreams do not end just there. “I don’t want to limit myself to stage shows,” she said. “My ultimate aim is to become a renowned playback singer.”

While she has lost the support of her family, Arundhati said she was lucky to have the transgender community on her side during the court case. “I hid my gender identity for 25 long years,” she said. “I have just begun a new life. I must thank the transgender community in Ernakulam for helping me find peace.”

Three coaches of Howrah Mail train derailed near Igatpuri railway station

New Delhi, June 10: Three coaches of Howrah Mail derailed near Igatpuri railway station in Maharashtra in the wee hours of Sunday. As soon the mishap was reported, security forces rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.  The reason behind derailment is yet to be known.

Coach S-12, S-13 and pantry car of the train were derailed.  The rail traffic was affected for some time but Railway officials said it will be restored soon. Seven trains were initially diverted due to the affected line. Reportedly, 12 trains on the route have been cancelled, one short terminated due to the derailment.

According to reports, Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, said that 3 coaches of 12809 Mumbai-Howrah Mail via Nagpur derailed near Igatpuri on Mumbai Division at 2:05 am on Sunday. There are no injuries to any passenger.

In a similar incident on May 13, the engine of Patna-Kota express train derailed after it hit a fallen tree in Dariyabad town in Barabanki. The accident happened when the train moving towards Lucknow from Patna via Faizabad, collided with a tree that had fallen on the track due to the thunderstorm that struck Uttar Pradesh a few days ago.

The passengers who were inside the train escaped unhurt. Train operations have been affected due to the incident.

In April, five coaches of the Katni-Chaupan passenger train derailed between the Salhna and Piparia Kalan stations in Madhya Pradesh, leaving at least six people injured. The derailment occurred around 10 pm, about 30 km away from the Katni railway station.

Shahela Accuses Media Haunting Khalid Over a Tweet

JNU student rights activist and former vice president of the JNU students union Shehla Rashid took a swipe at Union Minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari saying the minister is getting “worked up” about a sarcastic tweet while another JNU scholar Umar Khalid, Rashid claims, is being hounded by the media.

Early Sunday, The Hindu is reporting that Umar Khalid has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police alleging that he received death threats from a man who identified himself as fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari.

Although Shehla Rashid does not specify which “sarcastic” tweet she is referring to, the recent stream on her Twitter handle points to her sharp reactions after news trickled in, via the Pune police, about an alleged assassination plot against Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.

Responding to Nitin Gadkari’s tweet saying he plans to take “legal action on anti-social elements who have made bizzare comments; attributing personal motives to me, regarding the assassination threat to PM @narendramodi”, Rashid asks: “Mr. Gadkari, will you also take action against Rahul Shivshankar?”

The Twitter brawl began with another Rashid tweet earlier Saturday saying that the RSS and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were planning to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rashid has told India Today that the letter about a Modi assassination is “fake and to divert attention from government failures”

Rashid’s tweet comes in the context of a letter, allegedly written by Maoists, that carried details of plans to launch a ‘Rajiv Gandhi type incident’ to target Modi: “Looks like RSS/Gadkari is planning to assassinate Modi, and then blame it upon Muslims/Communists and then lynch Muslims #RajivGandhiStyle”.

Pune police claim to have seized a letter dated 18 April this year from five people arrested in connection with the Bhima Korean violence in which they talk of a “plot” to assassinate India’s prime minister Narendra Modi in a “Rajiv Gandhi-type” attack. Former Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was killed in Sriperumbedur, Tamil Nadu, on 21 May, 1991 by a Sri Lankan suicide bomber.

Pune Police said the letter they intercepted was written by R to “comrade Prakash” was found in the laptop of Rona Wilson, an alleged Maoist. Wilson, Sudhir Dhawale, Surendra Gadling, Mahesh Raut and Shoma Sen were arrested Wednesday.

“Jo meri sabse pyaari cheez thi wo Allah ke paas bhejni thi” Qureshi

Nawab Ali Qureshi confessed to murdering his daughter.

Jodhpur Rural police on Saturday arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly murdering his four-year-old daughter, a day after she was found dead at their home. Nawab Ali Qureshi’s daughter Rizwana was sleeping with her parents and an 11-month-old sister on Thursday night, when she was found murdered.

The family, which lives in Pipar City, approached the police with Qureshi’s wife Shabana (22) submitting a complaint.

Considering the “sensitivities, and heinousness of the crime”, Jodhpur Rural SP Rajan Dushyant constituted multiple teams to probe the case, while teams from Forensic Science Laboratory and dog squads were also brought in.
“Investigation revealed the suspicious role of the father. His psychological questioning helped reveal clues. Ultimately, he confessed to his crime,” the police said in a statement.

The SP quoted Qureshi as saying, “Jo meri sabse pyaari cheez thi wo Allah ke paas bhejni thi (I had to offer my most prized possession to Allah).” As per Islam, the month of Ramzan is observed to practice tolerance and selflessness. Qureshi told the police that he believed the devil had entered him.

“I am a devout Muslim and love my daughter more than my life. For several days she was at her grandmother’s place and returned on Thursday. I took her to the marketplace and bought sweetmeats and fruits. In the night I took her to the courtyard downstairs, recited a kalma, killed her, and then went back to sleep upstairs,” Qureshi told the police.
Rizwana’s post-mortem and burial took place on Friday.

Shareef Banjara Encountered : Police Claims

Sitapur police claimed to have gunned down an alleged criminal in an encounter in Ramkot area early on Saturday. Two policemen, too, were injured in the alleged encounter. A total of 58 people have been gunned down in alleged encounters since the Yogi Adityanath government came to power in the state last year.

According to police, 40-year-old Shareef Banjara, hailing from Lakhimpur Kheri, had 20 criminal cases against him, including attempt to murder, dacoity and theft. He carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, they added. He was wanted in connection with three dacoity cases lodged in 2016, said police. Sub-Inspector Mahesh Pathak of City Kotwali police station said a team, led by Inspector Jainudeen Ansari, was patrolling near Gaura village when they spotted three people on a motorcycle.

He claimed the team signalled the motorcycle to stop but those on it opened fire instead. “Police retaliated in self defence,” he said. In the crossfire, a motorcyclist and two policemen — Inspector Ansari and constable Ravi Verma — were injured. The other two motorcyclists escaped, he said. The three injured were rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared the motorcyclist dead.

The injured policemen had suffered gunshot injuries on their hands, but their condition was stable, said S-I Pathak. Shareef Banjara was identified from a driving license found on the body, said police. They added that a .12 bore gun, a country-made pistol, cartridges and a motorcycle were also recovered from the spot of the incident.

Hindu Mahasabha Arranges Ghar Wapisi for Daughter

An Aligarh woman Friday accused her in-laws of forcing her to embrace Islam, and her brother-in-law of rape. The 27-year-old also accused another brother-in-law and her father-in-law of molestation, and her husband and his mother of allegedly threatening her when she brought the matter up with them. On Friday, the Hindu Mahasabha arranged her “return to Hinduism” at an Arya Samaj temple in Aligarh. Police said they have registered the case and launched a probe. Till the time of filing this report, no one was arrested.

The couple have two sons, who, the woman said, are currently at the husband’s home in the district. She alleged she was not allowed to take them along with her when she was thrown out of the house in January this year. “In 2008, I met my husband who had introduced himself Kabir Chauhan. We fell in love, eloped and got married in a temple the same year,” said the woman. “It is only when I reached his home that I got to know that they are from the Muslim community and that Kabir Chauhan was not his real name. A few days later, I was forcibly converted to Islam.”

“My in-laws harassed me over petty issues,” she alleged. “My eldest brother-in-law raped me once when other members of the house were in another room. My husband’s father and younger brother used to molest me often. I was threatened with harm to my children if I shared this with anyone.” “I did not return to my parents’ home after I was thrown out because they had snapped all ties with me as I had eloped. I took shelter in a women’s hostel in Aligarh and started teaching children to earn my living,” she said adding that “Recently, I met members of the Hindu Mahasabha who assured help.”

The accused could not be reached for comment. Civil Lines police station house officer (SHO) Javed Khan confirmed the FIR against the husband’s family. “The husband and his mother were booked for harassment while her younger brother-in-law and father-in-law were booked for molestation,” said a police officer, adding that the eldest brother was booked for rape.

The FIR, the SHO said, includes IPC sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 376 (rape). Hindu Mahasabha national secretary Dr Pooja Shakun said, “Three days ago, the woman contacted us. We decided to fight her case. We got her converted at a temple yesterday.”
