श्रीगंगानगर के राजकीय कृषि महाविद्यालय में सीटें दुगुनी हुई-एमबीए भी मंजूर

 स्वामी केशवानंद राजस्थान कृषि विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति (वीसी) प्रो0 रक्षपाल सिंह ने यहां के सरकारी कृषि महाविद्यालय के लिए बिजनेस एग्री मैनेजमेंट में एमबीए मंजूर कर दिया है, इसी के साथ कृषि महाविद्यालय में सीटों को भी दुगुनी करते हुए 120 कर दिया है।

 विधायक गौड़ ने बताया कि कृषि महाविद्यालय में इसी सत्र से सीटों की संख्या बढ़ा दी गई है, एमबीए भी प्रारम्भ हो रहा है। कृषि अनुसंधान केंद्र परिसर स्थित कृषि महाविद्यालय के लिए आठ प्रयोगशालाओं एवं चार हाॅल का निर्माण प्रगति पर है। छात्राओं के लिए छात्रावास की व्यवस्था हो गई, अन्य जरूरी काम भी करवाए जा रहे हैं। स्टाफ आदि की नियुक्ति की प्रक्रिया भी चल रही है। विधायक ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत श्रीगंगानगर क्षेत्र के विकास की अपेक्षाएं पूरी कर रहे हैं। कृषि महाविद्यालय के बाद मेडिकल काॅलेज की सौगात भी दी जा चुकी है।

वीसी एवं वरिष्ठ कृषि वैज्ञानिकों ने विधायक गौड़ से उनके निवास पर मुलाकात कर इन सब के लिए आभार जताया। उनका कहना था कि विधायक श्री गौड़ के सहयोग से कृषि महाविद्यालय के काम ने गति पकड़ ली है। वीसी ने राज्य सरकार से 6 करोड़ रुपए की राशि और 30 हेक्टेयर भूमि दिलवाने का आग्रह भी किया।

 विधायक से मुलाकात करने वालों में विश्वविद्यालय के निदेशक (शोध) डाॅ0 प्रकाशसिंह शेखावत, अधिष्ठाता डाॅ0 आई.पी. सिंह, श्रीगंगानगर के प्रभारी अधिष्ठाता डाॅ0 राजेश शर्मा, कृषि अनुसंधान केंद्र के क्षेत्रीय निदेशक डाॅ0 आर.पी.एस. चैहान, वरिष्ठ कृषि वैज्ञानिक डाॅ0 विजयप्रकाश आर्य, डाॅ0 सुबोध कुमार बिश्नोई भी शामिल थे। इस मौके पर विकास गौड़, विशाल गौड़, किन्नू क्लब के अध्यक्ष श्री राजकुमार जैन भी उपस्थित थे। 

PU Resumes full day Working wef 10th June

 Panjab University, Chandigarh, after reviewing the status of COVID-19 cases in the campus and on the basis of recommendations of the Committee, constituted for this purpose, the Competent Authority  has resumed the office timings of the University  from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. with full strength wef 10th June,2021.

The competent authority has approved following measures to contain the spread of ongoing Corona pandemic, to be observed by all the offices of the Panjab University: –  

  1. The Office timings of the University shall be resumed to normal working hours, i.e. from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. with full strength.  However, depending upon the staffing pattern and laydown of the office space, etc. if the Head of the Office/Department is of the view that staggering of timings/attendance is required to ensure proper compliance of COVID – 19 protocols, then he/she may stagger the timings and attendance of staff by issuing proper office orders giving appropriate justification for the same, subject to the condition that the normal day to day work as well as time bound assignments relating to the offices may not get affected.   
  2. . There shall not be any public dealing up to 25.06.2021 except with the prior appointment of the concerned HOD that too for urgent issues only. 
  3. The Office staff shall avoid community lunch and any kind of get together to ensure proper physical distancing.   
  4. All staff must ensure appropriate COVID-19 compliant behavior, i.e., proper wearing of masks (covering both mouth and nose), proper physical distance, regular handwashing/sanitization, etc. 
  5. The entry and exit points shall be properly regulated to avoid any crowding.  
  6. The lifts shall work with the capacity of only two passengers and one operator. 

UIET Gets grant of 2.13 Crore For Skill Development

University Institute of Engg and Technology, Panjab University bags Rs 2.13 crore grant for skill and entrepreneurship development in Electronic waste management from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), which will  be supervised by Dr. Vishal Sharma, Assistant Professor, UIET, Dr. Manish Dev Sharma, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics and Dr. Amit Chaudhry, Assistant Professor, UIET.

Panjab University is one of the premier universities providing technical education in India today. In its endeavor to provide modern education preparing students for the future, the university under the leadership and guidance of Prof Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor has now initiated with the support of MeitY, a certificate program on e-waste dismantling. The Project is to be implemented at UIET with the collaboration of Private Recycler M/s Exigo Recycling Pvt Ltd, Noida.

Electronic waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the world today and India ranks among the top 3 countries in terms of the quantum of e-waste generated on an annual basis. More than 90 percent of this waste is managed in the informal sector which leads to environmental and health hazards. Panjab University conceptualized first of its kind project whereby such actors and others can be formally trained on dismantling techniques through a certificate course. This will not only lead to addition of workforce in this sector leading to Atma-nirbhar Bharat but also add to skilled workforce under Skill India. This will lead to creation of resource efficiency and a circular economy in the country providing a boost to the electronics sector as a whole.

SOCIAL WORK IS A GLOBAL PROFESSION AND WE SHOULD HAVE A NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR SOCIAL WORK EDUCATION: Prof Sanjai Bhatt.

Social Work is a global profession and Social Work is taught in more than 145 countries all across the world.

In India, we have more than 526+ Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions which are offering the education in Social Work discipline and now we should have a National Council of Social Work Education in our country  at the earliest,  said Prof Sanjai Bhatt, Former Head of Delhi School of Social Work and Ex-President, NAPSWI( National Association of Professional Social Workers in India) while giving his Presidential Remarks to the audience in a National Webinar organized by Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh today. 

Prof Sanjai Bhatt gave a seven step guide to the Social work practitioners and especially to the students. Prof Bhatt emphasized the importance of networking and joining the Professional bodies of Social Work for the beginner’s and the students. He urged participants to come forward and join the campaign and make it more popular and visible.  

Prof Archana Dassi, Head, Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi while giving her opening remarks shared the importance of having a National Council of Social Work Education in our country. She highlighted the five key attributes  for the development and flourishing of any profession. She said that having a Council of the discipline I.e. Social Work is  the need of the hour and is the fifth attribute. She said that ” With the help of this National Council of Social Work, the Social worker’s would get proper recognition and due visibility of  all the hard Work they do. 

Dr Shewli Kumar, Associate Professor, School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and member of the drafting committee of the National Council of Social Work Bill, 2020 gave a detailed and thought provoking presentation to the audience about the various Chapters and Provisions kept under this drafted bill. She clarified the difference between the Registration and  Licensing. She said the present bill suggests only voluntary Registration for Social Workers. She focused on the importance of regular Curriculum development and updates by the Social Work institutions and it should cater to the local needs of the region and to the market as well. She also shared the Code of Ethics to be followed by the Social Work practitioners. 

Dr.Gaurav Gaur, Faculty, Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh moderated the whole  discussion.

Prof Ashutosh Pradhaan, Head, Department of Social Work, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dr Aditya Parihar, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr Atul Partap Singh, Assistant Professor, B R Ambedkar College, New Delhi along with other teachers also joined the webinar. 

The online slot had 100 participants from Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Delhi, Maharashtra, Telangana, Bihar and Tamil Nadu etc.

“Preparing Roadmap for Implementation of NEP-2020” Discussed at PU

A webinar series on ‘Preparing Roadmap for Implementation of NEP-2020’ was jointly organized by Department of Education and University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, Panjab University, Chandigarh which was inaugurated by Prof Raj Kumar Vice Chancellor.

In his Inaugural address, PU VC stressed upon revision and revamping of  the education structure, as per NEP2020.. He focused on the importance of national and international collaborations through MOU and the Research and Student exchange programmes etc.which bring visibility of  the University. He also stressed that based on these series, a policy document shall be prepared which will be sent to Ministry of Education for reference.  

Prof. Amit Kauts, Dean Faculty of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the resource person of the day. His topic was “Digital initiatives, their integration and use for improving quality in education’. He emphasized on a more holistic and multidisciplinary education, internationalization with an aim of restoring India’s position of Vishwa Guru, technology use and integration etc.

Further, an initiative of ICT enabled teaching learning pedagogy improves the visibility of self and of the university one is working with. He emphasised that in NEP, technology is the centre of various programs like Swayam, Swayam Prabha, National Digital Library etc. and through the use of ICT,  teaching and learning will improve as technological interventions will be thrust area for every academic body. 

The webinar was attended by 70 participants which were a mix of  students staff and faculty from varied institutions. The webinar was convened by Prof. Kirandeep Singh Chairperson Department of Education ,PU and the vote of thanks  was presented by Dr. Anish Slath Director University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management 

Age Relaxation Demanded in Defense Recruitment by ABVP

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad Haryana unit wrote a letter to the Defense Minister for providing additional relaxation in the age of the candidates for recruitment in the army.

 7 June 2021 :

           Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad demands to provide one year relaxation in the age of the candidates who are recruited in Haryana Army.  It is known that while public life was disturbed due to Corona-borne circumstances, on the other hand the recruitment process could not be conducted at regular intervals.  Due to Covid-19, the candidates trapped in the restricted areas missed the recruitment examinations.  Due to being deprived of such an unexpected examination, the dream of hard working students joining the army and serving Mother India is not being fulfilled.  To do justice to the examinees, they should get one extra attempt.

          State Co-Minister of ABVP Haryana, Mr. Sunny Nara said that, “The passion to protect the country by joining the army resides in the youth of India since childhood.  In the last years, due to Corona, regular examinations could not be conducted and the candidates also could not appear in the examination due to health problems.  Keeping this in mind, an opportunity should be given to the examinees.

         ABVP Haryana State Minister Sumit Jaglan said that, “Keeping in mind the interest of the students who have been deprived of the examination, ABVP demands from the Honorable Defense Minister that one year should be given to the candidates for all types of recruitment processes in the Indian Army.  age relaxation should be provided, so that the candidates who missed their last chance due to corona situation can participate enthusiastically in their last attempt.

Destiny deported  Panipat to influence the course of our Political and literary history in a big way, said Dr. Ali Abbas, Coordinator of the Department of Urdu, Panjab University, Chandigarh while speaking at the 6th online meeting of the Bazam-e-Adab organized by the Urdu department here today, Dr. Ali Abbas Said that Babur laid the foundation of Mughal empire in India after the first battle of Panipat in 1526.  Akbar provided stability after the second battle of Panipat in 1556 and the Marathas were annihilated in the third battle of Panipat in 1761 by Ahmed Shah Abdali.  “On the political front all these three battles are very important as they changed the course of our history”  he added.

According to Dr. Ali Abbas, it was Panipat again but this time on the literary front when it played the all important role in the flourshment of Urdu language in Punjab in particular and in India in general.  Firstly, Afzal Panipati introduced Baramasa in the domain of poetry.  Secondly, around 1857 HaliPanipati, versatile genius and a great disciple of legendary Urdu poet Mirza Galib opened vistas of  new disciplines including literary criticism and mushairas in the domain of Urdu literature.  Thirdly, there is yet another Panipati, popularly known as Wahidudeen Saleem Panipati whose tremendous contributions have already earned him pride of place.

In her presidential address Prof. Rehana Parveen (Retd.) said that the Political history of India & literary history of Urdu literature would remain incomplete without mentioning the name of Panipat.

Mr. Mohd. Sultan, a research scholar in his paper elaborated that the colossal contribution  of Saleem Panipati to various disciplines of Urdu literature shall always be held in high esteem by the coming generation.

Tree Plantation by PU VC

The Horticulture Division of Panjab University today organized plantation drives at various places in Panjab University, under the able guidance of Prof. Raj Kumar,  Vice Chancellor, Panjab University to celebrate the World Environment Day.

The Vice Chancellor planted about 51 trees near Girls Hostel no. 5 in the presence of security guards, mallies, cleaners, drivers of the university to boost the morale of all the frontline workers who have worked exceptionally during the COVID 19 phase.

Prof. S. K. Tomar, Dean Student Welfare; Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean Student Welfare (W); Prof. Ashok Kumar, Associate Dean Student Welfare, Prof. R. K. Puri, Chairperson, Department of Physics and students of Panjab University graced the occasion. Trees of gular, peepal, neem, barghad, kaner, morpankhi, ficus, chandni, sukchain, saru were planted. The Vice Chancellor said on this occasion that all sections of the society should come forward for such initiatives and try to make the campus greener.

The plantations were also carried out at various departments which were presided over by Prof. V. R. Sinha, Dean of University Instruction. At Dental College, Prof. Hemant Batra, Director, Dental College and at UIET, Prof. J. K. Goswamy, Director, UIET alongwith Prof. Parveen Goyal planted trees. The plantations at Departments of Microbiology and Biotechnology were attended by Prof. R. C. Sobti, ex Vice Chancellor, Panjab University; Prof. Kashmir Singh, Chairperson, Deptt. Of Biotechnology; Prof. Deepak Rahi, Chairperson, Deptt. Of Microbiology and other faculty.

Er. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer(H), Panjab University expressed his gratitude to all the attendees to make this event successful and said the Horticulture Division has plans to do large no. of plantations during the coming monsoon season in a planned manner to make the campus look more beautiful.

UIPS,PU Celebrated World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2021, MHRD’s Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a Webinar on “SIGNIFICANCE OF ECOSYSTEM DURING DESIGN PHASE IN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY” by Dr Rakesh Kumar Bhasin, Vice President & Head R & D (Formulation), Biocon Pharma Ltd, Bengaluru, Karnataka, under the UIPS Expert Talk Series, today.

Professor Indu Pal Kaur, Chairperson, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Chandigarh extended a cordial welcome to all the participants and introduced the dignitaries. 

Dr Suman Mor, Chairperson & Associate Professor, Department of Environment Studies, graced the occasion as a Guest of Honor. Dr Mor enlightened that we are celebrating 47th year of World Environment Day on the theme “Ecosystem Restoration” with a focus to strengthen our relation with nature and for year 2021 Pakistan has been declared as global host. She stressed upon the importance of 3R strategies i.e. Reimagine, Recreate and Restore for the sustainable future. Further she encouraged participants, that the responsibility of pharmaceutical professionals is bigger, therefore students and industry should try to commit to zero emission, zero discharge, reduced carbon footprints, and green pharmacy practices for Clean and healthy NATURE. 

Dr Bhasin sensitised the participants that building a smart ecosystem is a regulatory requirement in the Pharmaceutical Industry. He addressed the need to preserve the ecosystem during the design phase and its upgradation, according to the current regulations. Failing this, can lead not only to the disasters in terms of health, safety, environmental hazards but also heavy business losses, which could completely wipe out existence of any organization. 

Dr Bhasin is a proud UIPS alumnus with more than 25 years of Executive and Industrial Experience in R&D, Regulatory, Quality, Compliance and Operations. The session evoked excellent response among participants witnessed by an interactive Q/A session.

Professor Poonam Piplani, Professor Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Convener, Lecture organising team concluded the session by extending vote of thanks. More than 100 participants attended the talk.

PU Library Science celebrated World Environment Day

Department of Library and Information Science in collaboration with Horticulture Division, Panjab University, carried out Plantation Drive today on the eve of World Environment Day which is observed on 5th June every year. 

The theme of the event for 2021 was “Reimagine. Recreate. Restore”.   Dr. Shiv Kumar, Chairperson initiated the event by planting saplings. All the faculty members, non-teaching staff and some local research scholars also participated in the plantation drive. 

The faculty members emphasized the importance of tree plantation for the society and accentuated that such initiatives will go a long way in inculcating awareness among the public about environment conservation and reconciliation of humans and nature. These trees are an investment for future generations and health of the environment is as important as health of an individual. They said that plants should be grown to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy. Students were also encouraged to plant more trees and take care of their plantations thereafter.
