प्रो स्पोर्टीफाई के फाउंडर और राज्यसभा के लिए निर्वाचित सदस्य कार्तिकेय शर्मा को उनके खेल जगत को दिए अतुलनीय योगदान के लिए इंडियन स्पोर्ट्स फैन अवॉर्ड-2022 से सम्मानित किया गया। हरियाणा के खेल मंत्री और पूर्व भारतीय हॉकी कप्तान संदीप सिंह ने उन्हें चमचमाती ट्रॉफी देकर सम्मानित किया।

कार्तिकेय हरियाणा से ही राज्यसभा के लिए चुने गए हैं। इस अवसर पर राष्ट्रीय स्तर के 50 से ज़्यादा दिग्गज मौजूद थे।

कार्तिकेय ने भारत में कई खेलों की लीग शुरू करके भारतीय खिलाड़ियों को बड़ा एक्सपोज़र दिया जिससे उनके मन से ओलिम्पिक और वर्ल्ड चैम्पियन खिलाड़ियों के डर को दूर करने में मदद मिली। इस बात को कई राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार विजेताओं ने इसी मंच से स्वीकार भी किया।

PU faculty awarded with SERB International Research Experience fellowship

Dr. Tanzeer Kaur, faculty at the Department of Biophysics, Panjab University, Chandigarh has been awarded SERB International Research Experience for the year 2022-2023 supported by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), a statutory body of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The fellowship will allow Dr. Tanzeer Kaur to pursue a collaborative research project to study the molecular mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease, with Prof. Allen Kaasik, at the Institute of Biomedicine and Translational Medicine, University of Tartu, (Estonia). Dr. Tanzeer Kaur has been working in the field of neurodegeneration and she has handled various research grants funded by ICMR, SERB, and DST in the previous years. Her research focus is to develop drugs and find novel drug targets for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. The award will boost an international collaboration of Panjab University, Chandigarh with University of Tartu, Estonia where Dr. Tanzeer Kaur will be spending next six months to accomplish the objectives of this research project.

केन्‍द्र सरकार ने देश का विजन तैयार किया है। राज्‍य सरकार ने राज्‍य के विकास के लिए विजन तैयार किया है। अब आवश्‍यकता है कि प्रदेश के विश्‍वविद्यालयों का विजन तैयार किया जाए। विश्‍वविद्यालय के विजन को राज्‍य के विजन के साथ जोड़ कर समग्र विकास की पहल की जा रही है। उच्‍च शिक्षा से जुड़े विद्यार्थी आने वाले कल को समाज में नेतृत्‍व देने के लिए तैयार हो रहे है। उन्‍हें सही दिशा में ले जाने का कार्य विश्ववि़द्यालय का है। उक्‍त बातें हरियाणा राज्‍य उच्‍च शिक्षा परिषद् के अध्‍यक्ष परिषद् कार्यालय सभागार में सोमवार को आयोजित ब्रेन स्टॉर्मिंग सत्र में विधिक सेवा से जुड़े व्‍यक्तियों को संबोधित करते हुए कहीं। उन्‍होंने कहा कि सभी की इच्‍छा है कि लीगल प्रैक्टिस में भारतीय परंपरा के अनुसार कार्य हो। हमारी समाज की व्‍यवस्‍था को सुचारू रूप से संचालित करने के लिए जो प्राचीन काल से व्‍यवस्‍था व्‍याप्‍त है, उसे नये परिवेश में लागू किया जाएं। इस विधिक परंपरा में जो अच्‍छी है उसे स्‍वीकारने के साथ जो समाजहित में नहीं है उसे नकार दिया जाए।

प्रो. कुठियाला ने क‍हा कि डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर विश्‍वविद्यालय ने विगत चार वर्षों में उत्‍कृष्‍ठ कार्य किया है। आने वाले समय में वहां से न्‍यायिक अधिकारी, अधिवक्‍ता, जज आदि तैयार होकर समाज में आयेंगे। उनके लिए बेहतर परिवेश उपलब्‍ध कराना हम सभी का दायत्चि है। प्रो. कुठियाला ने कहा कि शैक्षणिक संस्‍थानों को प्रोफेशनल से एक कदम आगे होने चाहिए। हम सभी जाहते कि न्‍यायिक व्‍यवस्‍था में बदलाव की आवश्‍यकता है। आयोजित ब्रेन स्टॉर्मिंग सत्र में परिषद् के उपाध्‍यक्ष डॉ. कैलाशचंद्र शर्मा ने कहा कि भारतीय दृटिकोण से विधिक सेवा और विधिक शिक्षा को देखने की आवश्‍यकता है। उन्‍होंने कहा कि विजन डाक्‍यूमेंट किसी भी संस्‍थान के लिए भविष्‍य की कार्य योजना होती है।

सोमवार को डॉ.भीमराव अंबेडकर विधि विश्‍वविद्यालय के कुलपति डॉ. अर्चना मिश्रा ने हरियाणा राज्‍य उच्‍च शिक्षा परिषद् द्वारा आयोजित ब्रेन स्‍टॉर्मिंग सेशन में विश्‍वविद्यालय के बेहतरी के लिए विधिक सेवा से जुड़े व्‍यक्तियों के समक्ष विधिक विश्वविद्यालय का विजन डाक्‍यूमेंट प्रस्‍तुत की।  डॉ. मिश्रा ने परिषद् के अध्‍यक्ष से निवेदन करते हुए कहा कि परिषद् द्वारा प्रत्‍येक छह माह में एक बार ऐसे सेशन का आयोजिन किया जाना चाहिए। जिससे विश्‍वविद्यालयों को नयी विजन प्राप्‍त हो सके और प्रदेश के बेहतरी में विश्‍वविद्यालय का योगदान सुनिश्चित हो सके।  इस सेशन में राज्‍य में न्यायिक व्यवस्था से संबंधित अधिकारी, अधिवक्‍ता, सेशन जज, कानून विभाग के प्रोफेसर आदि शामिल थे। सत्र के अंत में परिषद् के परामर्शदाता श्री केके अग्निहोत्री ने सभी का धन्‍यवाद ज्ञापन किया। कार्यक्रम में प्रदेश के विभिन्‍न न्‍यायलयों में कार्यरत सेशन जज, अधिवक्‍ता, विधि विषय के प्रोफेसर एवं हरियाणा राज्‍य विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरण के साथ परिषद् के सभी अधिकारी शामिल थे।

Japanese scientists along with the Secretary, Economic Section

 A delegation of Japanese scientists along with the Secretary, Economic Section, Embassy of Japan in India visited the Panjab University. The Japanese scientists are currently working in collaboration with Dr. Suman Mor, Department of Environment Studies in Aakash project (An Interdisciplinary Study toward Clean Air, Public Health and Sustainable Agriculture: The Case of Crop Residue Burning in North India), which focuses on the reduction of air pollution in North India from crop residue burning.

The Director, Research & Development Cell (RDC), Panjab University, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, interacted with the delegation and discussed with Mr. Yoshida Yuki, Secretary, Economic Section, Embassy of Japan in India, to strengthen collaborations with the Panjab University in the field of science, technology, art and culture through dual degree program including student exchange. Director RDC, Panjab University, apprised the efforts of Dr. Mor for her continuous work and contribution in the environmental research, science and communication field.

Prof. Yutaka Matsumi, Nagoya University, Japan and Dr. Tanbir Singh, Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN), Kyoto, Japan, mentioned that they have recently set up air quality monitoring sensors over the Indo-Gangetic Plain of India under the guidance of Dr. Suman Mor, Panjab University and Prof. Ravindra Khaiwal, PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Panjab University recently has developed a ‘Super Urban Monitoring of Air Pollution and Networking Site’ in Sector 25 near the continuous air quality monitoring station. This super site has partnered with the NASA citizen science project, USA; Aakash project, Japan; CSTEP, India and the University of Leicester, UK. Dr. Mor highlighted that this is the unique site for validating and standardizing near-real-time air quality sensors.

The Indo-Japanese delegation also discussed strengthening the joint scientific research for the common public’s benefit. The delebration focused on identifying practical solutions for the seasonal air pollution issues and how to minimize its adverse impacts for the overall improvement of the environment and human health.

Newsletter Documenting the Deliberations of two-day Social Work Conference released

Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, today released a newsletter documenting the activities and deliberations conducted during the two-day national conference jointly organized by Centre for Social Work, Panjab University and Indian Society of Professional Social Work (ISPSW)  on 27th- 28th May 2022.  The theme of the conference was ‘Co-building a new eco-social world: Leaving no one behind in Indian Perspective’.  “Documenting the messages of dignitaries who visited the conference and making a verbal and visual record of all the important activities and academic sessions helps in giving concrete shape to the efforts made during the conference” said Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work, Panjab University and Convener of the Conference. “Documenting the important deliberations of the conference in the form of newsletter also helps in sharing the message of the conference with the wider public”, he added. The eight-page newsletter comprises the messages of important dignitaries, the inaugural, valedictory and academic sessions. It also has sections on media coverage and wider outreach besides sharing the memorable moments of the event. The Newsletter has been designed by Dr. Bhavneet Bhatti, School of Communication Studies, Panjab University and Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work, Panjab University.

चार दिवसीय योग महोत्सव का हुआ समापन

पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी, चंडीगढ में एन.एस.एस की तरफ से आयोजित चार दिवसीय योग महोत्सव का आज अंतराष्ट्रीय योग दिवस के उपलक्ष पर आधिकारिक रूप से समापन हो गया है। आज सभी एन.एस.एस स्वयं सेवकों के द्वारा यूनिवर्सिटी जिम्नेजियम हाल में योगा दिवस के अवसर पर प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी के द्वारा दिए गए संबोधन को सुना गया। इसके उपरांत सभी स्वयं सेवकों ने पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी के कुलपति प्रो. राज कुमार की अध्यक्षता में योगा के सभी आसनों को बड़े ही अच्छे ढंग से किया। इस चार दिवसीय योग महोत्सव की संयोजिका व कार्यक्रम अधिकारी डॉ.रिचा शर्मा ने सभी स्वयं सेवकों के द्वारा इस योग महोत्सव में बढ़ चढ़कर भाग लेने की सराहना की और कहा की हमें योगा को केवल यही तक सीमित नहीं रखना है। बल्कि इसे हमें अपनी हर रोज की दिन चर्या में शामिल करना होगा। तभी हम भविष्य के अंदर एक अच्छा जीवन व्यतीत कर पाएंगे। इस अवसर पर सीनेट मेंबर प्रो.प्रवीन गोयल व स्टाफ के अन्य सदस्य भी मौजूद रहे।

Yoga Awareness Rally Organized by NSS Volunteers in PU

A Yoga Awareness Rally was organized inside Panjab University by all NSS volunteers on the second day of the four day special yoga festival under the Guidance of Dr. Richa Sharma, NSS Program Officer at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The rally was flagged off by Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma, Director, Department of Youth Welfare, Panjab University as the chief guest. On this occasion Dr. Mohinder Kumar from Government College of Yoga, Sector 23 was present as a special guest. He appreciated this awareness rally being taken out by all the volunteers.

The main objective of this rally was to educate all the citizens about the importance of Yoga. So that everyone can place yoga in their daily routine and lead a healthy life. During this awareness rally, all the volunteers of NSS visited the whole university and slogans were raised by all the volunteers for the awareness of yoga with great enthusiasm. All the students were led by Dr. Richa Sharma, the coordinator of this program and while giving this information, she said that it was very important to organize such an awareness rally on the second day of Yoga Mahotsav. Because there are many such people inside the society who do not understand the importance of Yoga. But such a rally which has been organized by the volunteers, is very commendable and in the same way, in the coming days of Yoga Festival, International Yoga Day is celebrated with great solemnity by organizing various activities. Other staff members were also present on this occasion.

Daily Yog is Most Important : Mohit Vasudev

On the first day of the four day Yoga Festival at Panjab University, Chandigarh, Shri Mohit Vasudev, Chief Guest from Swami Vivekananda Study Center explained to all NSS volunteers that how we can adopt Yoga in our life and how we can go through our life from serious diseases by doing yoga. He told that if we adopt yoga in our daily routine, then it will definitely make our body and mind completely healthy in the coming time and India will become a disease free nation in the coming time. But he has to make his own identity. During the same session NSS volunteers also interacted with the visiting chief guest and who had curiosity related to yoga in their mind that how we make mistakes while doing yoga, how to rectify them and how to do yoga correctly. Amit Kumar, the student coordinator of this four-day special yoga festival, told the students about the importance of yoga and motivated them to do yoga daily. The coordinator of this program and NSS Program Officer Dr. Richa Sharma said that in the coming three days, various activities will be organized in the same way and Yoga Mahotsav will be celebrated in a very good manner. At the end of the program All the guests who came thanked by Senior NSS volunteer Sartaj Singh. In this program Prof. Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh, Senate Member Prof. Praveen Goyal and other staff members were present.

The Annual function of Mata Gujri Hall, Girls Hostel No. 1, Panjab University

The Annual function of Mata Gujri Hall, Girls Hostel No. 1, Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated. The function started with lamp lighting by the Vice Chancellor Prof.Raj Kumar. In his address Prof. Raj Kumar elaborated on the facilities being provided in Panjab University hostels and encouraged the students to treat the hostel like a second home. 

Dr Jayanti Dutta, Deputy Director, Human Resource Development Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest and Dr. Gaurav Gaur, DPR, Panjab University was the Guest of Honour. 

Dean Students Welfare Prof. Jagtar Singh, DSW (W) Prof. Roopali Garg and Associate DSW Prof. Ashok Kumar graced the occasion which was also attended by  Dr Arun Thakur (Warden Boys Hostel 7),Dr. Naveen (Warden Boys Hostel 4), Dr Anupam Bahri(UILS), Dr. Ravneet Kaur (Zoology) and Dr Rajesh Chander (Women Studies and Development).

The event was organised in the hostel after a gap of more than two years and got a very good response from the residents. 

Sonia Katariya MSc(Hons) Botany got distinction by securing 115 th rank in Civil Services
