Department of CEDS, PU, Organized Webinar on “Challenges to Inclusion : Practical Approaches of Inclusive Model”

            Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized Webinar on “Challenges to Inclusion: Practical Approaches of Inclusive Model” on 12th Aug 2022, under AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV.  This Webinar was organized under the patronage of our honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Raj Kumar and chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Navleen Kaur, Chairperson, Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The Chairperson of the Department introduced the Resource Person Padma Shree Prof. (Dr) Uma Tuli, Founder & Managing Secretary Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust, Delhi and Former Chief Commissioner, Disabilities. Prof. Uma Tuli highlighted the demographical structure of persons with disabilities as per census of 2011. India has approximately 27 million persons with disability. Of these, almost 30% are below 20 years of age and 45% below 30 years.  69% live in rural areas and only 49% of the disabled population is literate and 34% is employed. She spoke on many policies related to Person’s with Disabilities at the national and international level. She touched upon the various challenges that are faced by the Children with Special Needs (CWSN) such as lack of support, attitudinal barriers, scarcity of special educators and training programs etc. She emphasized on the skills required by the special educators to assess, screen, plan, educate and rehabilitate the child with different category of special needs in inclusive setting of schools. Respected speaker stressfully focussed on the major components of adaptive model of curricular and co-curricular activities facilitated in inclusive education.

In her presentation, the honourable resource person threw light upon infrastructural needs for various disabilities such as visually impaired, learning disability, orthopedically challenged people, and multiple disabilities. She had beautifully explained the Individualized Education Plan I.E.P. in which she elaborated upon its preparation process. She also emphasised the application of a holistic approach towards inclusive education. She also emphasized on skill development. She shared the success story of the Amar Jyoti School, Delhi, established by the Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust Delhi. She told about various activities related to education, sports and cultural activities etc. She sight examples of various courageous specially-abled children. She also shared about the work of Amar Jyoti Rehabilitation Centre which tirelessly works for the upliftment of children with special needs. Her interaction generated lot of interest in the students.  

Students shared their experiences with the resource person. It was completely an interactive session. She shared a beautiful poem related to inclusion with the participants. Around 100 participants like: rehabilitation professionals, research scholars, students, parents, and other stakeholders attended the Webinar. The participants were very enthusiastic throughout the session. The skills of inclusive model learnt in this webinar can be utilized in the facilitation of children with special needs to improve academic and non-academic abilities.  The webinar ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr Md. Saifur Rahman, Assistant Professor in the department. The webinar was coordinated by Dr Md. Saifur Rahman, Mr Nitin Raj, and Mr Taukir Alam.

A.C. Joshi Library, P U celebrated the Librarian’s Day on 12th August

A.C. Joshi Library, Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated the Librarian’s Day on 12th August on the 130th birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, Father of Library Science.  Dr. Neeraj Kumar Singh, Deputy Librarian welcomed Dr. V.K. Anand, Former University Librarian who was the guest speaker on this occasion, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, University Librarian and all the library professionals.

 Dr. V.K. Anand talked on the topic “Ranganathan’s Contribution in Library Science”. He stated Dr. Ranganathan’s contributions in the field of colon classification, facets of library science, prolegomena to library classification, five laws of library science.  He stressed upon Dr. Ranganathan’s work which was well appreciated all over the world and had formidable influence on the growth of library science in the academic field. He also sensed that it is high time to relook Dr. Ranganathan’s works in relation to the modern age.

Prof. Sudhir Kumar, University Librarian also talked about Dr. S.R. Ranganathan as an academician and mentioned his contribution which was equally valid in terms of indexing, classification, cataloguing. Even google has admitted about the theories and principles laid down by  Dr. S.R. Ranganathan , he added.

            Dr. Suman Sumi, Assistant Librarian proposed the vote of thanks.

हर घर तिरंगा आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव के नेतृत्व में एक अभियान

स्वतंत्रता के 75वें वर्ष में एक राष्ट्र के रूप में ध्वज को सामूहिक रूप से घर लाना न केवल तिरंगे से हमारे व्यक्तिगत संबंध का एक कार्य है बल्कि यह राष्ट्र-निर्माण के प्रति हमारी प्रतिबद्धता का प्रतीक भी बन जाता है। आजादी के अमृत महोत्सव में हर घर तिरंगा अभियान 13 से 15 अगस्त, 2022 तक आयोजित किया जाएगा।

हमारे देश के 75वें स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर हर घर में तिरंगा फहराया जा रहा है। आइए जानते हैं हमारे देश के राष्ट्रीय ध्वज तिरंगे के बारे में।

झंडा किसी देश का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण प्रतीक होता है। इसी तरह, भारत का राष्ट्रीय ध्वज भारत के लिए सर्वोच्च महत्व का प्रतीक है। भारत का राष्ट्रीय ध्वज देश के सम्मान, देशभक्ति और स्वतंत्रता का प्रतीक है। यह भाषा, संस्कृति, धर्म, जाति आदि में अंतर के बावजूद भारत के लोगों की एकता को दर्शाता है। सबसे विशेष रूप से, भारतीय ध्वज एक क्षैतिज आयताकार तिरंगा है। इसके अलावा भारत के झंडे में केसरिया, सफेद और हरा रंग होता है।

भारत के राष्ट्रीय ध्वज का इतिहास

15जिसे तिरंगा भी कहते हैं, तीन रंग की क्षैतिज पट्टियों के बीच नीले रंग के एक चक्र द्वारा सुशोभित ध्वज है। इसकी अभिकल्पना पिंगली वैंकैया ने की थी।इसे 15 अगस्त 1947 को अंग्रेजों से भारत की स्वतंत्रता के कुछ ही दिन पूर्व 22 जुलाई, 1947 को आयोजित भारतीय संविधान-सभा की बैठक में अपनाया गया था

1921 में महात्मा गांधी द्वारा भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस को ध्वज का प्रस्ताव दिया गया था। इसके अतिरिक्त, ध्वज को पिंगली वेंकैया द्वारा डिजाइन किया गया था। झंडे के केंद्र में एक पारंपरिक चरखा था। फिर केंद्र में एक सफेद पट्टी को शामिल करने के लिए डिजाइन में एक संशोधन किया गया। यह संशोधन अन्य धार्मिक समुदायों के लिए भी हुआ और चरखे की पृष्ठभूमि बनाने के लिए भी।

रंग योजना के साथ सांप्रदायिक जुड़ाव से बचने के लिए, विशेषज्ञों ने तीन रंगों को चुना। सबसे खास यह कि ये तीन रंग केसरिया, सफेद और हरा थे। केसरिया रंग साहस और बलिदान का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। इसके अलावा सफेद रंग शांति और सच्चाई का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। इसके अलावा, हरा रंग विश्वास और बहादुरी का प्रतीक है।
आजादी से कुछ दिन पहले विशेष रूप से गठित संविधान सभा ने एक महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय लिया। निर्णय यह था कि भारतीय ध्वज सभी समुदायों और पार्टियों को स्वीकार्य होना चाहिए। हालांकि, भारतीय ध्वज के रंगों में कोई बदलाव नहीं आया। हालांकि, चरखे को अशोक चक्र से बदल दिया गया था। इसके अलावा, यह अशोक चक्र कानून के शाश्वत चक्र का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।

भारत के राष्ट्रीय ध्वज का प्रदर्शन

ध्वज का प्रदर्शन सभा मंच पर किया जाता है तो उसे इस प्रकार फहराया जाएगा कि जब वक्ता का मुँह श्रोताओं की ओर हो तो ध्वज उनके दाहिने ओर हो। ध्वज किसी अधिकारी की गाड़ी पर लगाया जाए तो उसे सामने की ओर बीचोंबीच या कार के दाईं ओर लगाया जाए। फटा या मैला ध्वज नहीं फहराया जाता है।

नियमों में कहा गया है कि जब दो झंडे किसी पोडियम के पीछे की दीवार पर क्षैतिज रूप से फैले होते हैं, तो उनके झंडे एक दूसरे के सामने होने चाहिए। साथ ही केसर की पट्टियां ऊपर होनी चाहिए। जब फ्लैग डिस्प्ले एक छोटे फ्लैगपोल पर होता है, तो माउंटिंग दीवार के कोण पर होनी चाहिए। साथ ही, कोण ऐसा है कि उसमें से झंडा लिपटा हुआ है। जब एक पार किए गए कर्मचारी पर झंडे दिखाई देते हैं, तो लहराते हुए एक दूसरे की ओर होना चाहिए।

भारत के राष्ट्रीय ध्वज का इस्तेमाल कभी भी टेबल, लेक्चर, पोडियम या इमारतों को ढंकने के लिए नहीं किया जाना चाहिए। जब ध्वज को घर के अंदर प्रदर्शित किया जाता है, तो यह हमेशा दाहिनी ओर होना चाहिए। इसका कारण प्राधिकरण की स्थिति है। इसके अतिरिक्त, ध्वज हमेशा वक्ता के दाहिने हाथ पर होना चाहिए जब ध्वज वक्ता के सामने प्रदर्शित होता है। सबसे विशेष रूप से, जब भी ध्वज प्रदर्शित किया जाता है, तो इसे पूरी तरह से बढ़ाया जाना चाहिए।
अंत में, भारत का राष्ट्रीय ध्वज हमारे देश का गौरव है। इसके अलावा, भारत का झंडा देश की संप्रभुता का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। सबसे विशेष रूप से, राष्ट्रीय ध्वज को फहराते हुए देखना हर भारतीय के लिए गर्व और खुशी का क्षण होता है। भारत का राष्ट्रीय ध्वज निश्चित रूप से भारत के प्रत्येक नागरिक से बहुत सम्मान का पात्र है।

Prem Lata and Professor D VS Jain Research Foundation, Department of Chemistry, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh organized6thBest Research Award Ceremony for the year 2020 on 3rdAugust 2022 at 11 am.The Research Foundation has come into existence in year 2015 with Rs. 50 lakhs endowment fund donated by Prof. Jain’s family. Professor Raj Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Panjab University presided over the occasion. In his presidential address, Prof. Raj Kumar congratulated the awardees, and exhorted other faculty members and young researchers to carry out meaningful research, not only for wider scientific reach but also for societal impact. The Vice chancellor expressed gratitude and appreciation towards the generous contribution of the Jain family. Prof. Raj Kumar believes that such endowment funds will really support and accelerate the university research activities in multifaceted ways.

“Inauguration of Workshop on Employability and Soft Skills being conducted by Central Placement Cell”

A workshop on “Employability and Soft Skills” being organized by the Central Placement Cell, Panjab University Chandigarh  was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor today . More than 100 participants across various university departments e.g  Bio technology, human genome, community education, geography, UBS, Library science are attending the workshop.  

Prof. Raj Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University addressed the event as Chief Guest. He appreciated the efforts of the Central Placement Cell for organising the student oriented activities for the career growth of the students. He emphasised on the need for conducting such workshops for grooming and honing the skills of students. 

The session started with an introductory address by Dr. Monica Bedi, Course coordinator. Prof. Meena Sharma, Director Central Placement Cell, welcomed key note speakers and highlighted the need for today’s session. She apprised the audience about various activities undertaken by central placement cell like webinars, workshops, placement drives focussed on overall development and welfare of the students of Panjab University.

Mr. Vivek Atray, Ex. IAS was Guest of Honor in the function. He highlighted the importance of communication skills in improving the overall personality of students. He explained in detail how overall personality of students can be helpful in  enhancing their employability  skills.

The Department of Biophysics, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility, inaugurated the seven days Hands-on training programme entitled “Advanced Trends in Biomedical Sciences: Research and Skill development” under the aegis of Synergistic Training Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure(STUTI) on 1st August 2022. Dr Sanjeev Khosla, Director IMTECH, was the Chief Guest of the event.

            Dr. Arindam Bhattacharayya,(Scientist F) the Nodal Officer for DST-FIST and DST-STUTI schemes of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India was the Distinguished Guest of the event. Also, Present as special guest was Dr. Pramod Prasad from SERB, DST, New Delhi. The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor,Panjab University,Chandigarh. The Chief guest Prof. Meena Sharma, Director, Central Placement Cell and Former DSW(W) and female guests graced the event. The students (around 150) and staff decorated the hostel on the theme and participated in all the events enthusiastically. The students showcased their talent by applying Mehandi, making beautiful rangolis and decorating pots in various competitions.

Around 50 students participated in the cultural event and Miss Teej competition. The winners Ms. Manisha (GH-10), Ms. Sonam (GH-10), Ms. Mandeep (GH-10), Ms. Alka (GH-10) and Ms. Jashandeep (GH-10) were felicitated with prizes. The event provided a stage to showcase the artistic qualities of the residents and encouraged them for future endeavours.

The wardens were present at the occasion and thanked the organizing team of students for their efforts.
