चंडीगढ़ हाउसिंग बोर्ड सीएचबी के नॉन ऑफिशल मेंबर्स के नामों पर प्रशासक ने मुहर लगा दी है। इनमें प्रेम कौशिक, तरसीम चंद गर्ग और सुबीना बंसल को नॉन ऑफिसियल मेंबर्स बनाया गया है। काफी समय से रुकी हुई लिस्ट को फाइनल कर दिया गया है । अब जल्द ही चंडीगढ़ हाउसिंग बोर्ड की बैठक हो सकती है।

Children with hearing impairment were taught POSCO act by sign language

Committee Room, Ground Floor, UT Secretariat was full of children with hearing impairment and their respective teachers from their schools. The occasion was to launch the audio video CD containing provisions of Juvenile Justice Act 2015, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences in sign language for these special children.

The event was organised by Chandigarh Commission  for Protection of Child Rights. B.L. Sharma, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare chair the press conference. Dr. Mrs. Nishtha Jaiswal and Mrs. Harjinder Kaur they also intracted with the media persons.

Special kids(Children) sang The National Anthem in Sign Language.

NCC PU in collaboration with CPA organized a cleanliness drive in the Center for Police  Administration

NCC Panjab University in collaboration with Centre for Police Administration,   Panjab University organized a cleanliness drive in the Centre for Police  Administration. The drive was started with cleanliness at the Emerging Areas Building and the participants were encouraged to promote cleanliness around their surroundings and the
statues installed in the University. Lt.(Dr.) Kuldeep Singh Coordinator NCC & Chairperson Centre for Police Administration, Col Rohit Thakur CO 2 nd CHD Bn, Col V K Sheoran CO 1 st CHD Bn, SUO Bipul Raj along with 40 participants were present.

Mediation and Negotiation Competition at UILS Begins

The first day of the UILS Mediation and Negotiation Competition 2018 began with the preliminary round 1 in the morning. 50 teams participated in the 1st round and other 50 teams participated in prelims round 2 in the afternoon. The rounds were judged by 40 senior members of the legal profession who are trained mediators from the Punjab & Haryana High Court. Prof. Rattan Singh, Director UILS and Dr. Shruti Bedi  were highly obliged with the warm and cooperative support from the Panjab and Haryana High Court Meditation center and welcomed the judges .

The judges appreciated the conduct of this competiton and were pleased to know that 300 students took part in the competition . The participants were judged on their communication skills, their relationship with the opposite party and the mediator and their ingenuity of ideas for possible solutions.

16 teams made it to the octa final rounds. The day concluded with octa finals round and the 4 teams  made it to semi-finals which will be conducted tomorrow.

International Workshop on “Monitoring Agriculture and Climate from Space”

International workshop on “Monitoring Agriculture and Climate from Space” was jointly organised by Department of Environment Studies,Panjab University and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh in collaboration with University of Leicester, United Kingdom.

Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University and Chief Guest of the event mentioned that UK-India collaboration will generate a pathway to develop future inter-disciplinary collaborative research. He stressed that such kind of platform provide all stakeholders an opportunity to collectively deliberate on issue of societal cause. He
emphasized to take the research to the ground level, so that benefit could reach to every section of the society.

Sh. Dharminder Sharma, IFS Chief Conservator, Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Punjab, was the guest of honour and mentioned that remote sensing and Geographical Information System techniques can be applied to effectively manage the natural resources and land use. He stresses to focus on precision farming in agricultural sector to preserve soil and water resources.

Dr Suman Mor, delivered a lecture on Monitoring Water Quality from space stated that satellite data is very useful for management of lakes and rivers water. She highlighted that recently pollution episode of river Beas by sugar mills in Punjab could be easily detected using remote sensing techniques.

Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, School of Public Health, PGIMER Chandigarh delivered a lecture on the ‘Impact of Agriculture Fires on Air Quality‘. He highlighted that remote sensing technology offers cost effective solution to better understand the linkage between the air pollution and human health. He further highlighted that satellite data is being used to control the burning of crop residues of paddy in agricultural fields of Punjab and Haryana.

Dr.Harjinder Sembhi from University of Leicester, UK, highlighted that remote sensing data is very useful to understand temporal and spatial variation of crop waters uses and offers potential for drought monitoring and management. She stated that radiometer data will help to understand how change in atmospheric and land parameters affect crop conditions and yields. This will help farmers and policy makers to enhance crop production in changing climate.

Dr. Darren Ghent, University of Leicester, UK, mentioned that land surface temperature is good indicator of energy balance at the earth surface. Hence University of Leicester with Panjab University and PGIMER is installing a radiometer at Fatehgarh Sahib to monitor impact of climate change. This radiometer will be used to generate novel new datasets on heat stress, climate variability, water availability and irrigation scheduling.

Over 30 participants form various institutions of north India were trained to utilize large scale satellite data sets to manage environmental resources and further provided hands-on training.

Sh. Surinder Paul, Director, Indian Metrological Department chaired the valedictory session.

This training workshop was aimed to provide Scientiests, Researchers, Ph.D. scholars an overview in Earth Observation applications for a better understanding of Earth’s landscape and climate. The training course was delivered by UK and Indian experts including Dr. Harjinder Sembhi and Dr. Darren Ghent from University of Leicester, Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal from PGI, and Dr. Suman Mor from Panjab University.

23 से 25 को आरम्भ होगा राज्य स्तरीय खेलों का महा कुम्भ: अनिल विज

चंडीगढ़, 20 सितम्बर- हरियाणा के खेल मंत्री श्री अनिल विज ने कहा कि प्रदेश में खेलों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए 23 से 25 अक्तूबर तक राज्य स्तरीय खेल महाकुम्भ का आयोजन किया जाएगा। इससे पहले 11 से 13 अक्तूबर तक इन खेलों का आयोजन जिला स्तर पर होगा।
श्री विज ने बताया कि इस महाकुम्भ के दौरान विभिन्न खेलों की राज्य स्तरीय प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन अम्बाला, पंचकूला, करनाल, रोहतक, भिवानी, गुरूग्राम तथा हिसार में करवाया जाएगा। इनमें जिला एवं राज्य स्तर पर 15 खेलों को शामिल किया जाएगा, जिनमें सभी वर्गों के खिलाड़ी अपनी प्रतिभा का प्रदर्शन करेंगे। इन आयोजनों के लिए करीब 5 करोड़ रुपये का बजट मंजूर किया है, जोकि खेलों के आयोजन, पुरस्कार राशि व अन्य कार्यों पर खर्च होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि इन खेलों से राज्य के गांव स्तर के खिलाडियों को भी आगे बढऩे का अवसर मिलेगा और वे भविष्य में अच्छे खिलाडी बन सकेंगे।
खेल मंत्री ने बताया कि गत वर्ष भी इस प्रकार के खेल महाकुम्भ का आयोजन किया गया था, जिसमें राज्य के खिलाडिय़ों ने बढ़चढ कर भाग लिया था। इस आयोजन से खिलाडिय़ों को अच्छा प्रोत्साहन प्राप्त हुआ और उन्होंने जिला स्तर एवं राज्य स्तर पर बेहतरीन प्रदर्शन किया था। उन्होंने कहा कि हमारी सरकार आने के बाद से न केवल खेलों को बढ़ावा दिया गया है बल्कि अनेक राष्ट्रीय स्तर की प्रतियोगिताओं की शुरूआत की है। इसके तहत प्रतिवर्ष शहीदी दिवस के अवसर पर राष्ट्रीय कुश्ती दंगल तथा पंडित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय की स्मृति में राष्ट्रीय कबड्डी प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन करवाया जाता है।
