Koral ‘Purnoor’, Demokratic Front, Chandigarh  –  15 December:

The Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (CSDE) at Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a one-day session on ‘Campus to Corporate’ by HCL Technologies Limited in collaboration with University Business School (UBS) for their MBA. The Professional Skills Head at HCLTech, Dr. Manjit Legha, highlighted the exciting opportunities and novel challenges students face while transitioning from the comfortable campus life to the fast-paced corporate life. She engaged the students by asking them what they think is appropriate corporate behaviour and what they foresee as the challenges. Students were apprised of the need for upskilling by mastering language and behavioural skills. The 6-H Corporate World Model was discussed, emphasising honesty, humility, health, human values, hard work, and hunger to perform. Dr. Legha encouraged the students to prepare a Failure Résumé, which lists the times when things have not gone according to plan. Most people do not attempt new things because of the fear of failure. The students appreciated her skill in knitting a story around numbers, stimulating anecdotes and two-way engagement. They were advised to build rather than battle once they moved from campus to corporate. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A round.
