Panchkula, February 11:
Deputy Commissioner, Mahavir Kaushik directed to ensure that all children in the age group of 0 to 5 years in the district are administered polio drops during the Pulse Polio National Immunization Day (NID) February 2022 round to be held on February 27, 28 and March 1. The district has 70,603 children of 0-5 years which includes 41,775 in rural areas and 28,828 in urban areas.
Mahavir Kaushik was presiding over the meeting of District Task Force for Pulse Polio National Immunization Day (NID) February 2022 round in Mini Secretariat here today.
The Deputy Commissioner said that it is necessary to administer polio doses to the children so as to protect them from this dreadful disease. He directed that besides urban and rural areas, special focus should be given on children living in slums, brick-kilns, poultry farms and crasher zones so that no children in the age group of 0 to 5 years remain deprived of the polio dose. India has been declared polio free nation in the year 2014 by World Health Organization (WHO).
He directed the BDPOs of all four blocks to conduct meetings with eminent persons of the concerned areas to create awareness among the general public of every village regarding mobilizing the children to give polio drops at nearest booths. He also directed that the Anganwadi workers and helpers would create awareness among the parents visiting the Anganwadi Centres regarding polio days and ensure administration of hundred per cent polio drops to the 0-5 year beneficiaries.
It was informed in the meeting that 509 fixed booths would be set up by the Health Department at different places in the district to administer polio drops to the children, which include 341 in rural areas and 168 in urban areas. Apart from this, 30 mobile teams would also be formed for door-to-door coverage, he added.
House to house activity will be conducted in these slum areas of urban Panchkula under Covid-19 protocol Indira Colony, Rajiv Colony, Budanpur, Haripur, Abheypur, Fatehpur and Kundi huts, Saketri huts, Bhainsa Tibba huts, Nada huts, Ashiyana Sector-19, 20, 28, 26, Pocket A and B, Industrial Area Phase-1 and 2 , Sector-19.
Among those present in the meeting included SDM Panchkula Richa Rathi, SDM Kalka Ruchi Singh Bedi, ACP Mamta Sauda, Tehsildar Punyadeep Sharma, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mukta Kumar, Deputy CMO Meenu Sasan, Dr. Shivani, Dr. Rajeev Narwal, DFSC Neeraj Sharma and other officials of the concerned departments.
