Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) of Panjab University, Chandigarh in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII, Punjab) and Chandigarh Administration is organizing CRIKC-CII exhibition in Panjab University on 12th November 2022 (Saturday). Member Institutes of Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) like PEC, IIT-Ropar, CSIO, NITTTR, IMTECH, CCET, etc have been invited to put their stalls in this exhibition. In the exhibition area, scientists/researchers from CRIKC institutes will display their technologies that they wish to commercialize. With support from CII (Punjab), Industry of the region has been invited to visit this exhibition. It is expected that, due to this exhibition some Technologies of Academia will get transferred to Industry.

Vice Chairman of CII, Dr P J Singh shared that to promote Industry-Academia collaborations, 10 Interface clubs have been created with membership from Industry as well as Academia. These Interface Clubs are being led by people from Industry whom we are calling as Interface Champions. These Interface Champions will mobilize people from their respective club for participation in this exhibition. Dr. P J Singh also informed that now industries can utilize CSR funds for conducting R&D in Academic Institutions. It is worth noting that Panjab University has received letter of intent for CSR funding of Rs. one crore to set up battery testing facilities.

Chairman of Management Committee of TEC, Professor C R Suri expressed that there are many technologies that are lying in different labs of CRIKC institutes and through this exhibition many technologies will get mined from labs in a very natural manner.

Mr Jagmeet Bedi, Head CII, Punjab state, urged scientists and industrialists of the region to enthusiastically come forward and participate in this exhibition as participation in this exhibition is a win-win situation for Academia as well as Industry. He opined that Academia wants to sell technologies developed by it whereas Industry wants to purchase technologies at compelling rates and therefore this exhibition is a win-win for all.

Coordinator of TEC, Professor Manu Sharma stressed that “Necessity is the mother of Invention” and therefore a special “Need assessment” session is being organized on sidelines of this exhibition. Giving details he briefed that from 10 AM to 1:30 PM on 12th November 2022, stage time of 5 minutes each will be given to people from industry to share exact issue/concern/problem/pain-point on which they want innovation/R&D to be done by scientists.

Senior Manager of TEC, Er Ankush Gawri apprised academicians that Stalls in this exhibition are available for Rs 10000/stall and for booking a stall in this exhibition scientists of the region are requested to fill online form that is available at https://forms.gle/SDwSAXCBwirCQq3P6. Er Ankush Gawri explained that academicians should fill this form before 30th October 2022 and should let the organizers know about all facilities that they expect in their stall so that organizers can serve exhibitors nicely. He further articulated that based upon technologies that are to be exhibited in this exhibition, specific industry will be invited by organizers of the exhibition to the exhibition so that as many as possible technologies are bought by industry in due course of time. Er Anksuh Gawri introduced his team from TEC comprising of Dr Dinesh, Dr Vaibhav, Er Simerpreet, Miss Davinder and Mr Avikash that will leave no stone unturned for successfully organizing this exhibition.

Very heartening to know that team of Er Ankush is being supported in this much-needed endeavour by a battery of students from campus of Panjab University who are led by student coordinator Mr Puneet. Pertinent to mention here that TEC is a project sponsored by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India with a clear mandate to create an enabling ecosystem in this region for development of technologies.
