Shabad Vichar Manch at Panjab University Chandigarh Shabad Vichar Manch – A Talk show on the book entitled ‘Shabdik Sabhiyachar: Siddhant Te Vihar’ of Dr. Labh Singh Kheeva was organized in the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Panjab University Chandigarh. In his welcome address, Prof. Gurpal Singh Sandhu, Academic Incharge of the department said that culture and especially verbal culture is an essential part of human life. Culture manifests through verbal expressions. Man lives, nourishes and dies only in the words, behavior and culture; He can never live without culture. Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, in his research paper, urged that culture can’t be a singular activity. It encompasses many aspects and approaches like social, anthropological, psychological etc. Religion and culture, man and religion, religion and society are interrelated. He said that present book consists of three main aspects of Punjabi culture namely Diaspora or migration, Music and anthropology. In the other research paper, Parmveer Singh raised the questions regarding boundaries of literature and culture in the modern context in light of the book.
In his introductory note Author expressed his views in detail, told that such books are need of time because we are living in the age of globalization and cross cultural world. Man can’t be separate from the others; this is a time of coexistence. Without our culture we are nothing. In his presidential address Prof. Gurmeet Singh (Rtd.), School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar said that Punjabi culture is very rich and in-depth. Punjabi music, literature and art impressed whole the globe very deeply. He urged that we should preserve our culture and should spread across the world.
