One day national seminar on ‘Criminal Law & Administration of Criminal Justice System in India: Recent Trends’ addressed by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vinod S. Bhardwaj

Rayat College of Law, Ropar organized one day national seminar on ‘Criminal Law & Administration of Criminal Justice System in India: Recent Trends’via digital mode. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vinod S. Bhardwaj, sitting judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court was the chief guest in inaugural ceremony of the National Seminar.
In his very insightful inaugural address Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vinod S. Bhardwaj made the participants aware of many aspects of criminal justice system as well as social aspects of the law. While referring to case laws from Supreme Court decisions, he educated the students on the importance of the judiciary in the administration of criminal justice system. He emphasised the experiences of a few judges as well as their practices. He reminded the participants of their fundamental rights as well as the societal hurdles they face in our society, making use of the Indian Civil and Criminal Codes as examples. He also explained the important topics like constitutional morality, public morality and right to privacy , speedy trial by citing recent judgments of Supreme Court of India. He spokes on the practices of former Chief Justice Hidayatulla.

Earlier, Mr. Nirmal Singh Rayat, the Chairman of Rayat Group of Institutions and Dr. Monika Sharma, the Principal of the College extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, dignitaries and all the participants. Coordinator of the seminar, Dr. Mahender Singh informed that more than 50 research papers were presented by the participants across the states. The best paper presentation award is given to Khushi Bhatia and Vishal Choudhary. Dr. Akashdeep proposed a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and participants. Dr. Sohnu and Ms. Kanchan Jaswal were the organisers of this seminar among others.
