Centre for Social Work, Panjab University marks Science Week with outreach activities

Dental Camps, Talks on Menstrual Hygiene and competitions on themes of Science and Technology held with school students to create awareness and enthusiasm for the Science Week.
Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh, celebrated the glorious science week called, ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate’ (in Sanskrit, which means Science and Technology is revered all over) at Government Model Senior Secondary School RC-1, Maloya, Chandigarh today. As a part of the celebrations of 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahaotsav Panjab University, Chandigarh and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology in collaboration with GMSS, RC – 1, Maloya school organized various events at the school to create awareness about health and science.
Ms. Manjit, School Principal, inaugurated the event and said that such events help in creating awareness and stimulate the curious minds of students. The events for the day included organization of Dental Camp through Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Various parallel sessions took place during the day. The Menstrual Hygiene Management session was organized for the students of class 6th and 7th. The sessions on ‘Interesting Science Facts’ were also organized for the students of class 11th and 12th. The videos of Women Scientists were also screened for the students of classes 9th to 12th. A poster making competition was held for the students of 6th to 9th classes on the themes of Science and Technology. Total 291 students participated in these events. The prizes of the poster competition were distributed to the students and certificates of appreciation were also given to the coordinators of the school.
Various sessions and competitions helped the students in gaining knowledge about the science and technology and India’s contribution and role in making science and technology accessible to all.
