CSSEIP at Panjab University Organised One day Webinar organized

Chandigarh February 11, 2022 

            A One day Webinar was organised on 11-02-2022 by Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) Panjab University, Chandigarh on the Topic “Educational Position of Muslim Community” under the Speaker Dr. Ali Abbas, Assistant Prof. Dept. of Urdu, Panjab University Chandigarh. The Welcome address was done by Prof. Ashok Kumar, Director – CSSEIP & Professor in Hindi, Panjab University.

            The session was moderated by Dr. Kanchan Chandan, teaching faculty, CSSEIP, Panjab University. The speaker discussed about the education system of Muslim community. The speaker started his lecture by talking about the situation of Muslim community in the context of education. He argued that Muslim community gives importance to education which is very significant for all. It is only education which can act as a way to self-emancipation. It is only education which can lead to improvement in mind set of the society. The speaker discussed about the education system of Muslim community. He talked about the ‘Madrassa’, the religious Islamic school. Here the Muslim children attained their basic education in their mother tongue like Urdu, Persian etc. After attaining the primary education into Urdu, due to their economic scarcity and incapability to understand the other languages like English, they drop out their school. He also discussed about the issue of corruption. He also discussed in detail various issues such as the issue of unity in diversity and changes seen in this since independence, secularism and many more. Only honest person can contribute in the development of the nation. We should not blame the government for not taking care of Muslim community. India is our country. We should respect and to love our country.

            Dr. Kanchan Chandan expressed her views by stating that the feeling of belongingness is required for our overall development. Dr. Kamala expressed her views. She suggests that we should implement the moral values in practice in our daily life Prof. Ashok Kumar, Director CSSEIP extended vote of thanks and concluded by concluded by Quoting Mahatama Gandhi’s line that we cannot change the world but we must be the change we want to see in the world.
