UT’S WEEKEND CURFEW REMAINS IN FORCE

Chandigarh on 28th May,2021 registered the lowest number of daily count of Covid-19 cases in the last 10 weeks with positivity rate further receding to 7.5%. The city may have seen reduction in the cases, but the night curfew still remains in place until further orders. The decision was taken at the Covid review meeting chaired by UT administrator VP Singh Badnore.
Serious concerns about the spiking number of Covid-19 cases in the city and higher fatality rate were raised with strict guidelines to be followed.
• Curfew timings starting from 10pm on Friday till Monday 5am. • Shops dealing with essential services allowed to operate till 2pm while the non-essential shops continue to remain shut during the curfew. • No curbs on inter-state movement of essential and non-essential goods. • All vaccination centers and testing labs will continue to operate. • Manufacturing units shall be allowed to remain open.
• ATMs, hospitals, veterinary hospitals and all medical related establishments including their distribution centers both public and private are allowed to function.
• Restaurants and eateries will continue delivering food till 9 pm only. • Marriages with prior permission allowed to take place with not more than 20 people.
• Funerals allowed with up to 10 people.
Any person or persons flouting the guidelines will be booked under Section 51 and 60 of the Disaster Management Act and Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
