TWO DAY NATION WIDE STRIKE BY BANKERS
CHANDIGARH – 1 Feb, 2020
On the call of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the apex co-ordination of 9 trade unions of Bank employees and Officers, observed strike today i.e. 01/02/2020. This is the 2nd day of two day strike called by UFBU ON 31/01/2020 and 01/02/2020. More than 2500 members of UFBU from the tricity participated in the massive demonstration held in front of PNB, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The two day strike has been called by UFBU against the pending Wage Revision, 5 day Banking as well as other demands. The wage revision of Public sector Bankers is done after 5 years. The present wage revision is due since 01/11/2017. The loud sloganeering by the participants showed the anger of the members. The participation by more than 700 lady members in the demonstration and the slogan shouting by them was a proof of their anguish against the non fulfillment of their demands.
Sanjeev Bandlish, Deepak Sharma, Jagdish Rai, Aashish, Kranti Rai, Sanjay Sinha, B S Gill, T S Saggu, Gurbax Singh, Ashok Goyal, Harvinder Singh, A P Sharma, Shri Pankaj Sharma, T R Gupta, Devinder Singh participated in the demonstration. All the speakers deplored the rigid as well as anti employees attitude of the IBA, conveyed their grievance about the inordinate delay and rejecting the 5 days week demand. In view of the above, the members were left with no alternative than to go on strikes. The speakers aplogised to the general public/customers of the Public sector banks for any inconvience caused and appealed to them to bear with us for the disruption of services due to the strike which has been forced on us by the bank managements and IBA. Public as well as our customers will appreciate that we have patiently negoiated for the past 30 months with a view to settle our demands amicably without creating any industrial relation problems and without affecting banking services.
