Technical Education Department starts online classes for ITI students in the State

The Technical Education and Industrial Training Department has started the online classes to provide training to the students of the Industrial Training Institutes of the State. The E-Learning content of theoretical subjects has been identified for 34 trades by constituting the committees of the Principals and Instructors.

Disclosing this here today Mr. Anurag Verma Principal Secretary Technical Education & Industrial Training said that as per the directions of Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi Technical Education Minister the department has taken this initiative so that the studies of the students do not suffer and also to safeguard their academic interests.

Mr. Verma said that the E-Learning material has been identified from the various sites such as Bharat Skills, National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI), YouTube etc.. The E-Learning material has been arranged week wise as per the syllabus prescribed by NCVT, Director General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

While briefing the methodology of teaching Mr. Verma said that the E-Learning Material would be sent to the trainees one day before till 4.p. m via whatsapp.  Next day from 10.30 to 4 p.m. the Instructors would take a online class of 40 to 60 minutes and give assignments to the trainees.  The Assignments are to be submitted back till 6 p.m. at whatsapp.  A test would be conducted on the weekend. Engineering drawing and workshop calculation & Science classes would be conducted every day at 3 p.m. for students of engineering trades.

He said that this methodology was finalized after successful trial of on line classes in five ITIs.   He told that in every district a nodal officer and a master trainer were deputed who imparted training to the Instructors  about usage of Internet for providing online training on 10-4-2020 and 11-4-2020 to the trainers and they further trained all the trainees of their respective districts.   Nodal officers and master trainers taught the methodology / usage of video conferencing for providing training to the trainees.  Thereafter all the Instructors taught their students about ‘studying through online sources’ via video conferencing.

Mr.Verma further said that he himself attended online classes in four ITIs  i.e  Bhatinda, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Chudiyan and Patiala.  Although a few difficulties are being faced in implementation of this system as of now, but the trainees and trainers are very enthusiastic about this online system. Student Gurbeer Singh of Preet Nagar (Dugri) was found attending the class from the roof top of his home due to network problem but the process would be improved constantly by taking regular feedback from all stakeholders.
