Media Bulletin on COVID – Haryana
World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared the Novel Corona virus, COVID-19 as Pandemic. Till now it has affected 206 countries, infecting 8,96,450 people and caused 45,526 deaths. Most severely affected countries are the U.S.A, China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Germany and U.K. Till date in India, it has infected 2300 people including 56 deaths.
In order to contain the spread of the virus, Haryana Government has strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease.
The Detailed Status of Surveillance Activity for COVID-19 as on 03rd April, 2020 is given below:

- Two samples taken at Delhi.
• Till date 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19 has been reported.
• One case belongs to Punjab which is reported in Ambala.
• Three cases belong to Kerala which are reported in Nuh.
• 15 in Gurugram, 6 in Faridabad, 4 in Panipat, 4 in Palwal, 3 in Sirsa, 3 in Ambala, 3 in Nuh, 2 in Panchkula, and 1 each in Hisar, Sonepat, Karnal & Rohtak. Out of which 9 patients of Gurugram, 2 patients from Panipat and 1 patient each from Faridabad and Palwal and Sonepat are discharged.
• One death of COVID patient from Ambala at PGI Hospital Chandigarh.
Major Activities undertaken by the State of Haryana to control the spread of COVID-19
• State Helpline no. 8558893911(Panchkula, and Faridabad district), 1075 (other districts) and 108
(Ambulance services) launched which are available for 24*7 days.
• The State Government notified ‘The Haryana Government Epidemic, COVID-19 Regulations,
2020’ under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897 on 11th March 2020.
• MHA GoI has issued orders vide no.: 40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated: 24.03.2020 to take lockdown
measures to prevent the spread of COVID 19 in the country.
• Two labs, one each at PGIMS, Rohtak and BPS Khanpur Kalan, are already functional for
testing of COVID-19. Five private labs at Gurugram (Modern Diagnostics and Research Lab,
MolQ Lab , SRL, CORE and Strand life Sciences) approved by ICMR for COVID-19 testing.
Establishment of five more Government Labs in District Nuh, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak and
Panchkula is in process.
• 6 Government/ Aided Medical Colleges namely PGIMS, Rohtak, BPSGMC, Khanpur Kalan,
Sonepat, SHKMGMC, Nalhar, Nuh, KCGMC, Karnal, MAMC, Agroha and 27 Hospitals will
have dedicated exclusive wards/blocks for COVID-19 patients only. ESIC Medical College,
Faridabad is under process for COVID-19 hospital.
• All Government/ Government aided/ Private Medical Colleges in the State have been asked to
reserve at least 25% of the beds.
• Isolation wards and Quarantine facilities are established as given below:
✓ 7344 Isolation beds identified in 373 government and private facilities.
✓ 13,324 Persons Quarantine facility identified in 3389 rooms/dormitories.
• Order issued under Food and Safety Act, 2006 regarding ban on consumption/ sale of Pan
Masala, Gutka, Chewing-Bubble gum etc..
• Instructions issued regarding ban on smoking in public places and ban on consumption of Khaini
etc. at pubic place.
• Advisories issued:
✓ For identification of isolation, quarantine and ventilator facilities.
✓ For Sample collection and patient management, infection prevention, dead body
management.
✓ For Social distancing like to stay at home for children <10 years of age and Senior
Citizens.
✓ For disinfection of offices and work from home for employees.
✓ Elective surgeries including dental procedures postponed
✓ OPD of Dermatology (Skin) Eye, Orthopedics, Surgery, Physiotherapy, Psychiatry and
Dental etc. have been suspended.
• 162 Inter-state border nakas have been placed on inter-state borders to prevent cross border
movement of people.
• DSP Rank officers have been deputed at 15 important inter-state entry points on National/State
Highways in the State from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM everyday till further orders to sort out various
issues if they so arise regarding lockdown.
• Police Control Rooms in every district is also supporting the fight against COVID.
• Several needy persons who were facing difficulties in reaching the hospitals for treatment were
also got transported by the Police Department to various hospitals in the State and also AIIMS
New Delhi in Police Vehicles to assist them.
• Daily wage earners who are stuck in various parts of the State are being facilitated by police
taking them to shelter homes and providing them with food and other essential items required fortheir daily living.
• Total 4539 no. of violations of lockdown/Curfew have taken place. 948 no. of FIRs have been registered against such violators, 1374 people have been arrested, 5401 vehicles have been seized and a fine of Rs. 6.3 Cr. has been imposed upon them under the M.V. Act.
• Haryana COVID Relief Fund has been set up for providing assistance to all those who are economically affected by the present situation. The fund has invited contributions from all those who are capable of supporting those economically affected.
• All BPL families are being provided their monthly rations for the month of April free of cost. This will include rice or wheat as per their entitlement, mustard oil and 1 kg sugar.
• Financial packages have been given to MMPSY beneficiaries, BPL families, construction workers etc.
• In view of MHA order no. 40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated 29.03.2020. Adequate arrangements of temporary shelters and provision of foods etc. for the poor and needy people are made. Free food packets are being served.
• The migrant people, who have moved out to reach their home States/ home towns are being kept in nearest shelters after proper screening for a minimum period of 14 days as per standard health protocol. Accordingly, Department of Health is conducting screening of migrated labour.
